I am now reading, KILLING RED, by HENRY PEREZ, wasnt sure about this one but got it as a gift an now I am so HAPPY that I did!!!!! I cant put it down, thriller, mystery from page one!!!!!
I just started Blood Alone, the third book in James R. Benn's "Billy Boyle" series of WW II set mysteries. I really like the narrative device he's using, which I won't spoil. It shows how valuable a series can be, because I don't think the device would work as well if the readers didn't already know Billy from the first two books.
I just started Gone girl today. Have read mixed reviews about it, but excited to find out for myself how it is.
Yesterday, I finished reading The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath by H.P. Lovecraft and continued reading English Country House Murders: Classic Crime Fiction of Britain's Upper Crust. I also continued listening to The Witness by Nora Roberts and The Shining by Stephen King
I've almost finished The Likeness by Tana French. I think I almost like it more than In The Woods. Really good - she takes a secondary character and develops another story around this character. Can't wait to read the others in the series.
Yesterday, I started reading
(a National Book Award nominee). I also started listening
and continued listening to
I lean toward In the Woods as the best even though The Likeness was quite good. They both kept me interested. I need to read the third one to see how that plays out.
Continuing in France's beautiful Perigord wi the BRUNO series by Martin Walker....book four. Recommended.
Started and finding very thought provoking and a real page turner, Ian McEwan's The Children Act. Perhaps because I worked in family/matrimonial law for years, I am finding this absolutely riveting.

Reaching the end of Ripley's Game
by one of my favorites, Patricia Highsmith, and I don't want it to end even though I've read it — and seen it — before.
I am currently listening to
. Absolutely love this story even though sci-fi/fantasy is not one of my favorite genres.
Hi all. I have published 3 new reviews. Do check out Bells on Her Toes
The Reflections of Snow White
Jesika's Angel
A Madras Miasma - India in the 1920's, a murder mystery. Just over halfway through and enjoying it so far.

I have read mixed reviews about it.
I am still reading Gone girl.I have never taken so long time to read a book and it is not because I don´t like it, it is more because I can´t find enough time now to read :-(
If anyone has extra time to send to me, please do so :-)
Just finished listening to
by Nora Roberts. Would've loved giving it a higher rating, unfortunately I think she pedalled back at the end of the book. You can read my review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished reading
by Greig Beck. It's not that long, a short novella or a long short story, take your pick. But it's a thrilling introduction to the characters and the series. Sort of a Special Forces X-Files.Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

That's great to know - I thought it looked interesting the first time I read the description.
I just finished Byatt's ' Little Black Book of Stories' and am now reading 'Crazy Rich Asians' and listening to 'The Devil Wears Prada.' I need some fluff after a few heavy reads.

Anna, I had not heard of Robert Wilson. I am putting Instruments of Darkness on my to-read list, thanks! Would love to read a thriller set in West Africa.
Number five in the BRUNO series set in the Perigord, France by Martin Walker. Only two after this and will be sorry to leave Bruno and his neighbours, lovers, colleagues, cooking, wine and crimes to solve. Delightful....feel like I'm on vacation

Looking forward to A Madras Miasma too.
Finished another Patricia Highsmith book a while back. Currently reading the classic The Bad Seed by William March, a psychological thriller from the early fifties about a child serial killer. I'm sure Ms. Highsmith read it and saw it as an influence. Shocking in its day. Great writing.
I am currently reading Doctor Sleep by Stephen King. It is the follow up to The Shining with an adult Danny having to deal with his abilities and his inherited liking of alcohol. The True Knot are also truly creepy!
I just finished Dark Star by Alan Furst I enjoyed it. I am now reading Five: A Novel by Ursula Archer This book is a Goodreads giveaway. I am enjoying it. It was published in Austria in 2012 and now translated into English. It takes place in Salzburg with Geo cache clues left by the murderer

Dark Star sounds great. I wonder if it's because I've already read it? I might finally give it a go because I've always been a Furst fan.
Currently reading Havana Bay by Martin Cruz Smith. The writing's as amazing as always.
The Caves of Perigord by Martin Walker.....fabulous standalone with three time lines running. 15,000 BC, WWII and now. Well crafted...taking my time as its my last read by this excellent writer, having just thoroughly enjoyed his seven Bruno Chief of Police books one after the other. He packs everything in and the crimes and murders are usually very challenging and topical. Recommend them highly. French infrastructure, history, markets, cuisine, wine, hunting, horses, gardening, dogs, romances and the crimes and bodies provide plenty of action and intrigue. All in the beautiful Perigord region of France.

I read Havana Bay and enjoyed it. I like Arkady's dark humor. I have read about 6 or 7 of Cruz Smith's books. Dark Star is the second that I have read by Alan Furst. He reminds me of Eric Ambler.
From the great Henning Mankell---I'm halfway into 'The Return Of The Dancing Master'. He creates such interesting characters.
I have just finished Five: A Novel by Ursula ArcherI gave it 4*
I received this book free through the Goodreads First Reads Giveaway program. It was published in Austria in 2012 and translated into English for this edition.
I enjoyed reading this psychological thriller about a serial killer who leaves grisly clues to taunt police by geo caching them. The principal detective is Beatrice Kaspary, a single mother of 2 children, who shares custody with her ex husband. He is a jerk, calling her at 3 am to ask about the children. She neglects her children for a couple of days to pursue this case relentlessly. There are plot lines that could be used in "Mysteries of Laura" or "Criminal Minds."
I did not suspect who the killer was until almost the end. Two small mistakes:
P. 60 "Was Nora sat(seated) next to you?"
p. 152 "Male corpse, 184(cm) six feet tall..."
This book is labeled "Advance Readers edition" so I hope these mistakes can be corrected
An awesome Jewish murder mystery reviewed and absolutely liked Wedding Wipeout by Jacob M. Appel . No matter what the other reviewers say, I am all for the book and honestly hope another one to come out soon. Check out the book at

Nearing the end of The Last Good Kiss
(1978) by James Crumley. Hardboiled crime out West from an underrated author, a writer's writer. Good stuff.
J.K. Rowling's Cormoran Strike detective novels will be adapted for a major new BBC One drama series. The Cuckoo's Calling and The Silkworm were written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith and will form the basis of the serial, which will be made with the assistance of the Harry Potter author.
A three-part adaptation of Rowling's The Casual Vacancy will be aired on BBC One in February 2015.
