Maree | 233 comments No worries, lol. The internet is a wonderful thing! Also, if you don't have contact with any of your old teachers, there are a number of people on this board who are or were teachers, like Kellee, who would be glad to give you some suggestions, I'm sure. :)

I'd be happy to give suggestions! Also if you go to this post: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/5... there are suggestions from me and Kristen :)

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments Mmm. Artemis fowl in very cross-genre. I'd still think of it as fantasy before sci-fi.

message 55: by Amy (new)

Amy I would say it would definitely fit into sci fi because of all the gagets and such. It could probably fit into sci fi, fantasy or even action/adventure.

message 56: by Jesi (new)

Jesi (pwnedkitten) | 198 comments **nods** I consider it more sci-fi than fantasy, as the fairies don't really deal with magic - they're far more into technology. They're only peripherally fairies - basically only fairies because they're called fairies/trolls/so on.

message 57: by Maree (new)

Maree | 233 comments For 4.25, would a fantasy country other than my own count, or does it have to be a country on this planet?

message 58: by Jesi (new)

Jesi (pwnedkitten) | 198 comments @Maree - You live in a fantasy country? :P

message 59: by Maree (new)

Maree | 233 comments Haha, yes, where books and movies come to life and Bean is my best friend, Malcolm Reynolds is my Captain and Buffy and I go around hunting Bella Swan for giving vamps a glittery name. ;)

And no Maree.. it would have to be a country on this planet. :)

message 62: by Maree (new)

Maree | 233 comments Roger that. I suspected as much, but thought I might get lucky. Thanks!

Karis Jacobstein (yalitwit) | 419 comments FYI Everyone... ALA has a new list of nominees up for 2011 (2.5). There's a bunch of 2011 titles on it,so if you're looking to fit a new release that you've read in somewhere, you should look for it there.

Jesi (pwnedkitten) | 198 comments Seeing as how there's a "Diverging Diamond Interchange" traffic ...thing... can the book Divergent work for 4.20?

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Completed Tasks

message 71: by Jesi (new)

Jesi (pwnedkitten) | 198 comments Query not specific to this challenge: Has anyone stepped forward for running challenge #10? (Seeing as we're 2/3 done with this one, I thought I'd ask.)

Good call- thanks :)

Lydia (loverofinformation) | 596 comments Well, when should we post for Challenge #10?

message 74: by Jesi (new)

Jesi (pwnedkitten) | 198 comments Lydia wrote: "Well, when should we post for Challenge #10?"

Personally, *I* would like to get at least *talking* about Challenge #10, but that's because I want to start making lists of books. I enjoy that sort of thing.

message 75: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments I think Divergent is pretty close to Diverging. :)

Someone can start a thread. I've been getting behind on this one so maybe another set of partners?

Making the list is my favorite part too :)

Karis Jacobstein (yalitwit) | 419 comments Okay Ladies,

When we made up this challenge, we forgot to include a section for the ever-important Banned Books Week, which is September 24th-October 2nd... So, we are adding a bonus section called "Banned Books". Below are several links to banned books. You will get 5 points for every book you read and discuss off of any of these lists. There is no limit. The book could have been read any time during the July-September challenge period, as long as you haven't claimed it in a different area of the challenge.

Lydia (loverofinformation) | 596 comments Thanks Karis -- although I don't really think this is fair.

Jesi (pwnedkitten) | 198 comments Lydia wrote: "Thanks Karis -- although I don't really think this is fair."

0.o Considering all of this is purely optional and for our own entertainment, I'm not really sure that "fair" is the appropriate word.

message 80: by Karis (new)

Karis Jacobstein (yalitwit) | 419 comments Lydia wrote: "Thanks Karis -- although I don't really think this is fair."

I'm not understanding what is unfair. Please elaborate? It's just a way way to earn bonus points while building awareness. We overlooked Banned Books Week when we made up the challenge, and I happen to consider it a very important annual event in the book world.

message 81: by Lydia (new)

Lydia (loverofinformation) | 596 comments Banned Books week is very, very important. I am a librarian and that means a lot to me. My children are extremely proud of how many banned books they have read. I guess at so near he end of the challenge, I just feel it's too much. Please don't get overexcited or take offense -- it's just my feeling that so late in the challenge, it doesn't feel fun to ME! That's all.
