Morgan P | 172 comments I know at least one person already metioned them, but the Vampire Diaries were amazing. I would highly recommend them.

Dawn Celmer (bhekadawn) | 20 comments Well, if your into Vampires and you haven't introduced yourself to Anne Rice's Lestat, I would highly recommend you try meeting him.
I liked the Twilight series, but have read "Interview with a Vampire" many, many, many times. I'm always amazed at the fact the whole book pretty much takes place in one evening.

message 53: by Carol (new)

Carol (caroldias) I´m with you Dawn. I read it many many many times too and he is always awesome!

message 54: by Nicci (new)

Nicci Sefton | 1 comments Hey i got a book you could read next. Its called Luxuria by an 18 year old girl from Tulsa, OK.
It's so good. i've asked around so i could get u some reviews and EVERYONE [no lie:] say its BETTER than Twilight!!! Can you believe it?!?!?!?

Annabell Crystal is a 200-year-old vampire, who leads her covenant in a quiet and normal life; as quiet and normal as a vampire’s life can be. She hides a dark past, and continues on with the belief that she is a damned soul that does not deserve happiness.
Derrick Clark is a new student at Madison High that has no family and lives with his adopted guardians. When he first sets his eyes on Annabell, he can’t think of anything else. Though, he does not know what he would get himself into.

Hope you enjoy!!!

JG (Introverted Reader) Looks like you're the author and this is your first comment in the group. Try to get to know us before you push your book on us please.

Suzanne (bellamy22) | 610 comments Uh Oh ... Here comes Lori ... but it might be Fiona ... our club runs on mutual respect, just like JG said...

Shauna | 1 comments I searched for quite a while to find books I enjoyed after the Twilight series. I LOVED The Host! Then I tried many listed in the messages above but nothing stuck. Then I read SHIVER by Maggie Stiefvater and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not about Vampires - but wherewolves. The part II to that is coming out in 2010. I just read Maggie Stiefvater's LAMENT and am just starting BALLAD. I like her work a lot - very poetic and great love stories. I preferred Lament to Shiver - but most I read on it feel the other way....

Lisa | 26 comments If you like YA vampire stories I really enjoy books by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. My favorite was Demon in My View (Den of Shadows, #2). It's a little older (I went through my vampire book phase about ten years ago, haha), butshe has newer books as well. I think her characters are more complex and three dimensional than any of the 'Twilight' characters. And on an interesting side note she published her first book at 16 or something near that.

message 59: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) I really liked Graceling. It's not a vampire book, but is definitely a good sci-fi/fantasy. Or if you are looking for another paranormal type book, A Certain Slant of Light was pretty good. I liked the first 2/3 better than the end, but overall it was an interesting read.

message 60: by Bhumi (new)

Bhumi | 524 comments I don't know if anybody mentioned this yet, but the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead is great. A little edgier than Twilight, but a good read if you want to stick with a vampire theme.

message 61: by Andrez (new)

Andrez (andrez-ssi) Dracula is great.when you start its kind of boring but +- in the middle you start needing to know how it ends

message 62: by Taylor (new)

Taylor Hill | 5 comments i would reccomend that people read the Vampire Diaries. There are five books in the series: The Amakening, The Struggle, The Fury, Dark Reunion and The Return: Nightfall. They are really great books and i think that you would really like them.

message 63: by Andrez (new)

Andrez (andrez-ssi) i read the first but I cant find the second anywhere...-.-'

message 64: by Taylor (new)

Taylor Hill | 5 comments I went on www.booksamillion.com and looked it up. they have it there :)Maybe you could order it.

message 65: by Taylor (new)

Taylor Hill | 5 comments i think there is going to be another vampire diaries book. i just finished the 5th one, The Return:Nightfall. at the end of the book it said that the story is going to be continued in Shadow Souls, the second installment of The Vampire Diaries: The Return. I'm so excited!!

Lostinfiction | 6 comments is that the same Vamp Diaries that was on TV? I saw it a few times and it did look a lot more intriguing for me than Twilight. To get new book recs, I use this sweet little tool called Compatibilities (you can find it on the infloox website). It basically allows you to plug it the authors you *do* like and based on that, it generates a pretty solid list of more that you would probably enjoy.

message 68: by Chay (new)

Chay | 1 comments There is a really great series known as The Mortal Instruments, by Cassandra Clare.
Check them out, they are kind of along the lines of twilight(vampires werewolves) but with a sweet twist.

message 69: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 326 comments Blood Price by Tanya Huff is the person someone mentioned earlier. There was a series on Lifetime based upon the series called Blood Moon/Blood Ties. It reminded me a little of any detective series, Forever Knight and Beauty and the Beast (the TV series not the cartoon)!

It's actually pretty good. I've always been a fan of Bram Stoker's Dracula and Anne Rice's series. Eh on Twilight. The first couple of books by Laurell K. Hamilton in the Anita Blake or Meredith Gentry series are really good but both are MATURE ratings.

Katie MacAlister writes a HILARIOUS romance vampire series that leaves me in stitches. A Girl's Guide to Vampires is the first in her Dark Ones series. And her Guardian series is FANTASTIC fun! You Slay Me is the first book :)

message 70: by Kalin (new)

Kalin | 1 comments i read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead after i read twilight. i loved them the next one comes out Dec.14,2010!!!! i am so excited. but it will be the final one. i fell in love with the characters and the places. i truly think these are almost as good as twilight :).

message 71: by A.M. (new)

A.M. (amharte) | 13 comments If you're look for something fresh in the vampire genre, you should try Intern With The Vampire by Kit Iwasaki -- it's along the lines of True Blood meets Scrubs.

First book of the series is already out, and another one is due out next month.
Intern With The Vampire (Vampire General #1) by Kit Iwasaki

message 72: by Jane (new)

Jane | 27 comments This is WAY old school, but I'd recommend The Last Vampire series by Christopher Pike. I read these back in middle or high school, though they've recently been re-released (and the series continued!) what with the vampire craze. Thirst No. 1: The Last Vampire, Black Blood, Red Dice

message 73: by Amber (new)

Amber Scott (amberscott) | 17 comments I loved Twilight but I adored even more the Mercy Falls Wolves series:
Shiver
Linger
Forever

message 74: by Carly (new)

Carly Svamvour (faganlady) | 220 comments I like The Forest of Hands and Teeth series.

message 75: by LilaBird (new)

LilaBird | 11 comments I second everyone's recommendation of the Sookie Stackhouse books. Anne Rice's books would also keep you busy for a while. But I really recommend Felinian Felinian by M. Clifford , by M. Clifford. Cool concept, new and really entertaining!

message 76: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (Steph89xX) | 1 comments personally i think The Vampire Academy by Richele Mead is the next best thing to Twilight or maybe even better. They are amazing.

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

Is everyone Tired of reading Vampire novels?? Someone told me today they wanted a funny RomCom and were tired of all the Vampire novels out there?? I love nothing more than a Hot Vampire who drinks human blood, so I disagree with my friend. Just thought I'd ask.

message 78: by Tockica (new)

Tockica | 1 comments I have been looking for a book to fall in love with again after the Twilight series, and finally found something that has got me all excited. I mean the Host was good as well, but when is Stephanie finally going to publish the sequel? Anyway, maybe you guys will like this book as much as I did: The Claiming Words by Tricia Drammeh. Just read it this week. And am so in love with Alicia's story.. very very sweet. It's paranormal YA romance/fantasy with Witches, Demons and a human girl in the midst of it all.

message 79: by Julia (new)

Julia | 12 comments After Twilight, the only book that I read with vampires was the Vampire Diaries and I didn't like it at all. I haven't found anything similar to Twilight yet, but I really enjoyed Jane Eyre. Although it's a classic it still has this raw feeling just like Twilight. Not that I'm comparing Charlotte Bronte to Stephenie Meyer.

message 80: by sacm (new)

sacm Try A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. It reminded me a lot of Twilight.
