I'm not sure if I'm even 25% into my book, The Bone People. Let me go look....

18% is all I've read.

On Sunday, when the Toppler starts, I will set it aside for the week if I haven't finished it by then.

Um wait - the race is rigged! You only have 192 pages to read. I have 530. Why, oh why do I do this to myself?

Didn't you do this to yourself in the April Toppler too? heehee :)

message 107: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59981 comments Yes, I did. I was thinking of that when I whined. :)

message 108: by Jane Reads (new)

Jane Reads | 297 comments Rigged, huh? Well, um...

Umm..... ummm........ I kinda sorta haven't read a Bonus book on my hobby, as you have. So you might win the race after all. I haven't a clue what to read for the Hobby book.

message 109: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Jane, what are your hobbies and interests? I bet we coould come up with suggestions.

READING!!

and I haven't come up with a book about reading to read.

I hadn't considered interests, though. That's a good idea.

Maybe a book that involves cooking. Yeah, that's the ticket. A culinary mystery! (Can't get away from my favorite genre - lol)

Thanks, Cheryl!

message 111: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments A culinary mystery sounds like the ticket, Jane!

message 112: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) I've read a lot of books about books/reading/libraries but haven't found a perfect one yet. I do like the Unshelved, Vol. 1 comic strip collections that take place in libraries.

But yes, there are plenty of quick culinary mysteries, I understand. Enjoy!

That does look good. Thanks!! I just placed a request for it at my library.

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

message 114: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59981 comments If you want a book around a culinary mystery, how about Tomato Rhapsody: A Novel of Love, Lust, and Forbidden Fruit?

message 115: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Shadow of the Wind is an excellent story! Enjoy!

message 116: by Janet (new)

Janet Killips Shadow of the wind is a great book. There are seveal books with either authors or libraries/librarians as part of the book. One I really enjoyed is by one of my favourite Canadian authors. Bury Your Dead has the main character spend quite a lot of time in a library, and the main character is a reader, married to a librarian. If you don't want to start with book 6 of the series, try Still Life (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, #1) by Louise Penny . It is book one, and again, books and reading play a part of the story.

message 126: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mpasdonyahoocom) I'm finding this challenge a little late in the year, but it sounds too interesting to pass up! I'm in!

message 127: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mpasdonyahoocom) ooops, didn't notice the dates. :-( Hopefully there's another challenge that's similar that I can tackle!

message 128: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59981 comments Mandy, there is the half year Rainbow challenge ongoing right now. There is a requirement to read an orange book in August, but there will be an opportunity during the October Toppler to read an orange book and have it count towards the challenge.
