Adela Bezemer-Cleverley I bought a four-in-one version of this series at a Library book sale when I was eleven or so, and I've never found anyone who has even heard of them. Will anyone share in my adoration of these wonderfully humerous, entertaining stories?

Kate I read them when I was younger and recently bought a boxed set of the four and re-read them. They are spectacular!

Poppy I read the first one as a child, then picked up the whole series a few years ago when my nieces were the right age to enjoy them, so I could re-read and so I'd have books on hand that they'd enjoy. I have reread these books sooooo many times, anytime I get fed up with how whiny the heroines are in lots of other books, I really want to visit with Cimmorene again.

I recently re-read my copy in April because at the time we were reading "The Shipping News" in my English Lit class and I needed something to cheer me up (by the way that's a horrible book). I love the enchanted forest chronicles, especially the first. I think Morwen and her cats are my favourite characters. Actually no, I quite like Telemain :)

Haniccol Many years after reading them, these books still hold a very special place in my heart. They were some of the first fantasy books that I read and I've never turned back.

Blue Caeruleus All four books when I was fourteen.

Yue the four books (well, maybe the one about Daystar not so much) are among my favorites... it has everything, humor, adventure, romance... i loooove this author, only because of that i searched another books of her and bought "a matter of magic" (which is good, but not as nearly good as the enchanted forest)

Thanks for that! I'll look into it.. My favourite character is Telemain... and I just realized I already said that. I like Mendanbar too.

Alysa I still have memories of sitting in the car reading them because I couldn't bear to stop, they were that charming. I was in love!

thank you so much! whenever I try and describe these books I can never think of the right word, and you've got it. Charming--that's exactly what they are! :D

Chelsea I loved this series. I think the first 2 were my favorites. I have also gone on to try some of her other books. I am currently reading Across the Great Barrier from her newest series Frontier Magic and have also read most of the books from her Lyra series. My favorite book from that series was The Raven Ring: A Lyra Novel.

thanks Chelsea, I didn't realize she wrote so many other books! I'll be sure to look them up

No problem, I hope you find them.

Brenda I got my copy through the Science Fiction Book Club as the Book of the Month. Not only have I read it, but I read it to both my kids, hubby's read it, and of course it's been re-read a couple times on its own. Love it love it love it!

Such wonderful twists on fairy tales!

S.A. Thorup Wonderful books! I read them when I was younger, and it's been a while, but I wouldn't mind going back and reading them again. I've also read her book of short stories based in the Enchanted Forest world, but I cant recall what it's called. Does anyone remember?

Matthew Read it years back in a Science Fiction Book Club omnibus edition. Really very funny stuff. Well written and subtle humor, which is tough to do. Now you've made me want to dig that book out again.

great! I'm thinking of reading it again too :)

Alysa S.A., the book of short stories, which contain some of her Enchanted Forest world stories, is called Book of Enchantments. : )

Chris I read these books as a kid, and later acquired the omnibus edition. Very good series - fun, adventurous, humorous. All and all, a great read for any age

Erica Great set of books, has anyone read anything else by her. I found them when I worked in the bookstore as a teen, I also found The Princess Bride novel, I love these book!! She reminds my of Shelly Laurenston (G. A, Aiken), the adventure, the creatures, the humans and the humor.

Jeffery Moulton I found these books several years ago when I was in high school—and loved them (though I still think the fourth one is pretty weak compared to the rest of the series). When I saw the box set, I bought them for my kids and read the first two to them. They love them.

You should also try The Ordinary Princess. It has a similar feel and is just as fun.

Erica, I also read her magic and marelion duology. very good read

I have read 2 other series by her. I have read all but 1 of her Lyra series, my favorite was The Raven Ring. I have also read her Frontier Magic series.

these are in my top 10 all time favorites ;D I've re-read them so much they're starting to fall apart! I actually adore the 2nd book the most, Cimorene and Mendanbar are so adorable and I like his magic! I do love how tough Cimorene is as well!

Maryclare Fawver I LOVE these books. They are awsome!!!!!!!!!

I agree the second book was great! The third book was a let down for me after the second but the fourth was alright.

Really? I thought the 4th was the biggest letdown but probably because it frustrated me so much that poor Mendanbar is stuck for so long, that made me so sad! I do also not normally like when a book has different characters from the main plot but because Daystar was the son it was ok and he still got to see Morwen and Telemain :3 I can see about the 3rd one though- Cimorene is pregnant and can't be all tough like she normally is- overall though, it's a really well done series :)

Candice My sixth-grade teacher had the first book on the reading shelf and I've loved Patricia C. Wrede ever since. I agree with Laurakhan that the fourth book was not as good as the rest, but that didn't stop me from staying up all night reading it, much to my mother's frustration. Mairelon the Magician and its sequel are also fantastic as well as The Raven Ring (no real need to read the rest of the Lyra series) and Sorcery & Cecelia: or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot.

Adela Bezemer-Cleverley I've have Mairelon the Magician on my to-read list for years, but I can't find it in any library! :(

Maryclare Fawver I LOVE these books. I read them all the time. My favorites are the fist and last book.

Candice Adela wrote: "I've have Mairelon the Magician on my to-read list for years, but I can't find it in any library! :("

Just buy it, you won't regret it.

Tar I may have read each book at least 4 times but I could not find Suze in any of the other books except Talking to Dragons. That was a bit of a let down for me.
All that said - I love Patricia Wrede's works & I love this series.

Celestial My sister got one large book with all four books in it. She read them out loud to me and my other siblings when I was around eight. Since then I have read each book at least four or five times. :)

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles is one of my favorite series.

Cheryl Having received this omnibus from Science Fiction Book Club years ago, I read them aloud on car rides to my 3 children, great for boys and girls as Cimorene doesn't just take care of herself, and her dragon, but also has to trick and get rid of princes who are positive they can take advantage of her and the other princesses situation by "freeing her" from her friend the dragon. I know this helped my children be stronger to stand up for their rights and others, instead of assuming that everyone was brought up the same, it also helped my husband and I stress that there really was no difference between the genders, other than what others believed. It made our boys willing to look at women as equals instead of feeling superior to them. My daughter and I also shared this in our Mother/Daughter book club and we felt it helped open the eyes of some of the women and girls there, for some changed greatly after reading that book, by being more outspoken about what they really felt, thought, etc. If you like her as an author please check out http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/w/p... and find some of the other great series she has written.

My grandma's friend gave the books to me! I loved having them all in one! :>

Cimorene did not take care of Kazul. She HELPED Kazul in her work as a dragon and kept Kazul's cave tidy!/pos

Laura Baumgardner I bought these kindle boxset ages ago. Finally got around to reading then last year - LOVED them!
