What Else are We Reading?

I have found this is an oft-asked question in other group forums while waiting for the next release of a favorite series.
So what else are you reading?
I wanted to mention some other books with male protaganists that might fit your preferences. I already mentioned Mark Del Franco's Connor Grey series. Someone else mentioned Pat Rothfuss and Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden. How about

Jim's stuff is OMGCRACK. Both the Dresden Files and the Codex Alera is GREAT. I'll soon be starting a reread of the Dresden Files in preparation for book 13 at the end of July.

Right now I'm in book 4 of Naomi Novik's Temeraire series.

Nicole Peeler's latest Jane True book just released! These books are a riot, I feel confident recommending them to anyone that likes to laugh when they read.

One caveat: They do have a good amount of romance, which I loooove. But if that's not your thing, you've been warned!

Tempest Rising is the first in the series.

I am currently reading by Blake Charlton, and loving it. The magic system is completely original. The apprentice has an affliction similar to Dyslexia and it is an integral part of the story. I am already engrossed in this book, much like I was for the Patrick Rothfuss books.

Believe it or not, I've never read a Patrick Rothfuss book. So I've started The Name of the Wind. I am loving his writing style

You are lucky that you do not have to wait for the second book, since The Wise Man's Fear is already out.

As for me, I'm reading the Payne and Jones series by Chris Kuzneski. Not sci fantasy, but action adventure. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait for the next one, I'm almost caught up.

Great, so now the only two authors i buy the books for(Butcher and Hearne) each are a part of 3 different anthologies for short stories before their next book. Thank you library.

Does anyone have recommendations for stuff similar to IDC?
Fun, witty, urban-fantasy with mythology?

After about 15 years of trying to get my sister interested in books, I FINALLY succeeded with this series, now she's refusing to read Hunted because she doesn't want it to be over for a year. I'd love to suggest some similar stuff to her.

She's tried Jim Butcher's Dresden Files, and although she liked it, it doesn't start out as well-written as IDC and takes a fair few books to really get into the swing of the series imo, so she was put off.

I am about to read the Felix Castor series since it seems like it could be another strong male-lead fantasy series.

I recently discovered "The Rook" & thought it was a lot of fun. While it seems to be a stand-alone, he is writing a sequel. Unfortunately, no release date, for those of you like me who get twitchy waiting for the next book.

I was curious if anyone could recommend any books similar to Iron Driud ( the strong characters and narrative ). I have enjoyed this series via audiobook so if the book(s) were also read by an amazing performer such as Luke Daniels that would be a huge bonus. Just finished Black Blade Blues, by J.A. Pitts. It's an awesome read, and a very fresh take with the heroine.

I really enjoy Butcher's Dresden Files books, and think the TV show was ended before it's time. My favorite author, though, is probably still David Eddings. I love his Belgariad and Ellinium series', plus each has a second series that follows it. A nice mix of fantasy and action.

For some twisted humor and a similar deity-rich environment, though, I like Simon Green's Nightside series.

The iron druid series is one of my favorite. It is really hard to find something similar because it is so unique covering all mythology at the same time. I did like the Benedict Jacka books (hidden, chosen, fated, and cursed). A series that is a little more mature that is very interesting is the Peter V. Brett (the warded man, desert spear and daylight war). I am also really liking the Riyria Revelations series by Michael Sullivan - Warning though it starts out fairly slow but picks up throughout the series.

I also really loved a young adult book series called the Rangers apprentice.

Okay, I loved reading all the books but I just took a long driving trip and listened to Hounded as a book on tape and it was awesome. Even if you have already read all the books I highly recommend listening to the books on tape. The drive was over in no time. Plus I was pronouncing a lot of the names wrong in my head when I was reading and now I know the correct pronunciation. I can't wait to take another long drive and listen to the second book!

She's a Grim Reaper and a PI. She helps the Albuquerque PD solve some of their cases by talking to the victims directly. Her Uncle is a Detective as was her father before him. Action and hilarity ensue.
