Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments I snarfled this from another group I'm in. It's a fun topic and I thought we could enjoy it here too.

If you could live in any of the homes that are described in the books you've read, which would it be?

For example, I would love to live in Manderley from the book Rebecca as long as Mrs Danvers was not there. I love that it's near the ocean and has sprawling lawn.

Cheryl (cherylllr) How about the home in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, so we could find the Wardrobe?

message 3: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice Janice, I will fight you for Rebecca's house!! :D

message 4: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments We don't need to fight - there's lots of room. We could each have our own wing. :)

message 5: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice Janice, that sounds awesome. Then we could do what? Read together in the awesome drawing/living room!! :D

message 6: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments You bet! We could go out on the patio in the gardens with our tea, go down to the beachhouse and take the sailboat out for an afternoon, and entertain lots of people.

message 7: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice That would be awesome. And the weather would always be great! But we would have the occasional thunderstorm of course!

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments You've got to have the occasional thunderstorm because it would be so awesome to watch over the ocean.

Karendenice Over the cliffs? Right?

message 10: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments Right!

Alison Forde | 269 comments I fancy life in a hobbit hole - I might be a little too tall though.

message 12: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments Yes, wouldn't it be nice not to have to grab a chair to reach the highest cupboard?

message 13: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Or how about Green Gables? I hear PEI is really as gorgeous as Anne sees it.

message 14: by Sandy (new)

Sandy H (sandyquiltz) Oooh--PEI is gorgeous. Been there! To piggy-back on a comment I made in a different thread, I'd be fond of Mole's hole or even Toad Hall, if it could get de-infested. But yeah, come to think of it, I could wander through the woods of PEI reciting poetry pretty easily...

Shannon (sianin) | 453 comments The Burrow from Harry Potter. The happy chaos and all the magic...

There are others too but that is the first that comes to mind.

message 16: by Tina (new)

Tina Green (glaciertina) | 3 comments I would love to live in the mansion in "The Witching Hour" by Ann Rice. I have always wanted to live in a house surrounded by trees like weeping willows with a huge wrap around porch in the South. New Orleans has always been my dream destiniation.

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments That does sound like a great house, Tina. Add a friendly ghost or two and it would be perfect for the area. :)

Kipahni | 144 comments PEI-BEST VACATION EVER! So I vote for Green Gable House.
Runner up would be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Lori Z | 2086 comments My dream home would be Pemberley, and if Mr. Darcy came with it so much the better. :)

message 21: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments Great thread to resurrect, Mariab!

I'm thinking Hogwarts, Weasley's house, or Harry's house that he inherited from Black would be fun places to live.

Not too dark?

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments With a flick of my wand and the command of "luminos", it would be bright in an instant.
