Me: You know what freaks me out? The ghost which presumably lives in my house. You know why? Because it walks on my bed. While I'm in it. All the time.

Me: There is a ghost which lives in my house, in my room (allegedly.) Sometimes--read: often--while I'm trying to get to sleep, the mattress sinks, as if it's under new weight when there's no one in my room but me. Like some has sat on or is crawling around on top of my bed.

Me: That is scary. We used to have ghosts when my mom lived in the house as a teen, but they've gone dormant since then? Sometimes strange things happen, but there's usually an explanation for it. Usually.

Me: I have no idea what Supernatural is. XD But I like watching horror movies. The real horror movie? Soul surfer. I thought I was going to cry, but I didn't because I thought it would have been rude for the friend I was watching it with.
Me: You know you've reached a certain level of apathetic emptiness when you are practically addicted to the Internet but you don't look at (let alone think about getting on) your laptop all day.
I need school to start. Hopefully, roleplaying will start to feel amazing again when I don't have the opportunity to do it 24/7.

Me: Sleep might be a part of it. I'm currently having problems with insomnia. Even though I wake up early and don't take naps during the day, I try to go to bed at midnight and end up lying there for three hours while sleep just kind of lingers in the back of my mind and laughs at me. I want to sleep, it's not like I'm not tired--I just can't. Which is ridiculous.

Me: I hate when that happens. I sit in a very dark room and keep my eyes shut and manage my breathing so it's deep and slow. Chamomile tea helps, or this brand called SleepyTime tea.
If you're entirely desperate, take some sleep medicine.

Me: I've never tried those calming techniques; I have a feeling that they wouldn't work. According to my parents, my problem is that I "can't turn my brain off."

Me: And that happens sometimes. Try your best to clear your head or again, turn to some sort of sleeping thing like tea or ZzzQuil.
Me: I'm not a fan of tea, but I doubt it's the only drink out there. I'll look for others.
I just hope it clears up before school starts. I can't function in an IB setting zombified. *sigh*

That would definitely not be good and the classes would only be harder. :(

Me: Meh, I don't mind. I'm basically a therapist for most of my friends.
Fairly well. Had a lazy day today, I suppose and the family went into counseling today to discuss things together as a last session. It was an easy day today. Anything else with you other than your Insomnia and Internet problems?

Me: I've been reading my Spanish textbook before school even starts. I'm pleased to know that I can read and understand the first two chapters.

Me: Good for you! I haven't done much Spanish over the summer, and I should have. I'm nervous for this year because my teacher before didn't teach us things that were important (for example, I had to translate what you just said, thought I understood what) and this new teacher, I love her to pieces, is more strict but useful. Then college Spanish and that makes me nervous. >.< Hmmph. That's out if the way now.
Is this the first year starting Spanish or have you done a little in the past?

Me: ¿Qué tal? just means What's up? XD
I've never officially taken a Spanish class before, but I've watched quite a bit of online tutorials and I have a couple Spanish speaking friends, so my knowledge is there but minimal. I'm trying to decide whether I want to go in to class and greet my Spanish teacher in Spanish. I could hold a pretty decent (basic, but decent) conversation with her--only I don't want to seem like a showoff.

Me: But for What's up, I was taught ¿Que pasa? Instead. Which also makes it hard because for example, what I would be taught in Spanish class (I think versions used in Spain? Maybe? Not sure) would be different than what Juana or Carlos might have been taught based on where their family came from. There are many different kinds of Spanish. It's all understandable by a native, I suppose, but that makes it more difficult for us to learn as well.
I've heard that the videos are extremely helpful, and I've tried some but didn't find them stellar, though this year I suppose I better try to maintain my high grade.
I'll bet she was impressed, especially knowing it was your first year! You at least know mor than the majority of your class, I'll bet, and that's probably narrowed down to what they've heard from Dora the Explorer. XD She's actually a life saver in high school.

Me: European Spanish, Mexican Spanish, and Latin American Spanish are the three types. There might be more, but I don't think so.
There are lots of different ways to say the same phrase. Kind of like how in English "Yo" and "hi" and "hello" and "what's up?" and "how goes it" all mean the same thing: they're all informal greetings.
So should I do it?

Me: I think you're right? But I'm not sure? Because someone in Ecuador could be saying the same thing to a person in Peru, but the person from Peru would say it differently. Which is why I'm grateful to have my teacher from Peru who knows both types to teach.
True, I just wasn't taught all of the meanings for different greetings. I figured that's what you were saying, but I had to double check because in my school it was Que pasa is What's up and they didn't say anything else about it.
I think you could, so long as you know your boundaries. If you want to impress her but not feel like a show-off an have your classmates think you're a "try-hard" then keep the conversation minimal, but use enough Spanish to demonstrate that yes, I actually know some Spanish and I'm not too horrible at it.

Me: If you look at my progress thing under what I'm currently reading, it's the newest one and there's only two.
I was reading his introduction and the things he said, I'm sitting here and I'm like, "Is Raven or King speaking to me?" It's kinda funny.

Raven: Maybe we're the same person.
Me: Is that possible?
Raven: Anything is possible in the dark. And the mind is a very dark place.

Raven: Clever girl. You certainly learn faster than some.

Me: In fact, I've just realized something. If Raven isn't either smirking, raising an eyebrow, or winking at you while giving you a compliment, your next move should be immediately to tackle him and demand to know who he is and what's happened to the real Raven.
