Me: Hmmm. What if he had an obsession with tying and untying a piece of string? He could also have an obsession with math because some people who are autistic although parts of the brain are considered "weaker" to doctors, other parts of the brain are exceptionally good at counting an math. Like, if you've seen the movie Rain Man the person with autism in the movie can count just about anything. Someone dropped toothpicks, he glanced at them and then announced that the gentleman had dropped 473 toothpicks.

Me: I've heard about people like that. An obsession with numbers sounds like a good thing for calming down. I also like this idea: Perhaps Ishmael dreams very vividly each night (I think there's actually a condition named for it) and has this fixation on the dreams? He writes them down all the time and is generally obsessed with trying to interpret his/other people's dreams.

Me: O.O Oh, god, that would certainly be interesting. Especially when most people think you have dreams as some sort of omen or sign. XD

Oh yeah. I thought of another obsession for Bast's half-brother. I was thinking if you wanted him to be interested in science he could be obsessed with sparklers. Not necessarily having them and lighting them because I'm not sure they would allow it, but figure out what would start the reaction that made then sparkle and finding different chemicals that would cause similar reactions or reactions of different colors.

I like the idea of another obsession, though. Something he could have an impressive amount of knowledge about. Hmmm...
