YA/Chapter book that is a series of short stories all dealing with the same characters [s]

The one thing I really remember from this book is that a new donut maker comes into town and for some reason everyone is suddenly addicted to donuts. I believe that the cover had a boy on a chair holding a donut with a bite out of it. At least, the copy that I read had this cover.
