and it's all the same thing...I found the book once, but alas was too skint to buy it. Must go look it up again some day.

I moved because, after all, it was my laugh and they were being extremely nice about it.

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments good grief what were you up to? Pelting them with broccoli or launching sprouts into their Chianti or something?!

Mind, sometimes things do just bug you and at least if they were nice about they were putting effort in...
So do you laugh like Sibyl? I snort sometimes when deeply amused, though I've almost managed to train myself out of that - not quite, but almost!

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 212 comments I know, I know. If you're going to have a baby and want your body back afterwards, DON'T wait until you're 40. It's like 9 months of carrying mini-man has resulted in 20 years' aging, it's definitely shock but sadly no awe, not any more.

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments Y'know, I'm quite partial to being an Aunty, myself.
I did have to change a nappy a few times, though....

On the other hand when we're all 80, you lot will be cared for by relatives who HAVE to do it and I'll be living in squalor with 28 cats. But I have already worked out several important points towards my plan to be the old lady all the kids think is a witch, so I am a bit ahead of schedule with that.
Silver linings, hey?!
heheheh

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 212 comments Judging by the way the world of work er, works, I doubt mine will be in any position to look after his parents, McOther is 8 years older than me, too, so I suspect I will still be the 80 year old cat lady living in squalor.

I was talking to a friend yesterday and we both agreed that we've never felt so ugly. For me, at any rate, aging is not the issue, it's that my body has changed beyond recognition and assumed an new shape that is just, undressable. None of my old clothes fit and I'm in the middle of a two year weight loss process so buying anything new is unadvisable, not to mention pointless... anyway, I've got a choice of something that looks like a maternity dress (waist just below boobs and floaty bit to 'hide' but it actually accentuates my tum) or skin tight and clingy, really clingy so I look like that woman with the 6 boobs out of Star Wars. I have a lot of clothes which, if they were a size bigger, would actually make me look quite good, it's just that they're in styles that are no longer avaialable in the shops (unless I have them tailor made) while the stuff that IS available is supremely unflattering.

Sigh, so that'll be another 15 years' wait (or is that weight) for the brief 2 year window when I can buy clothes I look nice in rather than clothes I look slightly less awful in (because I have to buy something).

Right then, I'd bettter go, I have a small boy who is hyper active at the best of times and currently going completely, utterly mental. I need to take him out and make him run around for an hour or two so I get some peace this avo.

Cheers

MTM

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments Ah well, I have a set of nice photos (incl the author photo I use) that I got free with a hairdressing deal. So, my view is, given that we know I CAN look halfway decent with the help of 6months' weightloss, proper lighting and a team of talented professional, and given that I have the photos to prove it - well, in my book that means that I am now at liberty to look a total shambles at all times.

Went to a posh dinner the other night and did intend to at least make the gesture of putting on makeup but discovered it has all disappeared - and not only can I not remember where I put it, but I have no memory of the last occasion when I might have worn makeup, so once I've tried the various family members who I might have been visiting, I'm probably going to have to buy some new stuff.

On the other hand it's probably not a bad do as the best-before date on most stuff of that kind is about 5 years and there were bits and bobs in my make-up kit that I bought at Uni....

Cambria (cambria409) | 3305 comments This thread is dusty!!! And I MISS it.
So.... I have been thinking about something for a while I didn't post my thought on FB because peeps will think I am crazy but you all already know I am. SO there. here's what I want to discuss.....

You all heard about the paternity suit against Justin Beiber right? DO NOT GROAN AT ME!!! This isn't really about Beiber. Its a boy girl thing.

So he is/was being sued by this girl who said that they hooked up (for like 30 seconds no less, bah ha ha ha) and she got pregnant and her baby is his and she wants him to claim his baby AKA= she wants all his millions.

So here's my thing: When this illeged hook up happened he was 16. She was 19. No onw has said a word about that.

You KNOW if he was the girl and she was the boy people would be screaming statutory rape. Right? So why not for him? Its hypocritical i think. And yes, he's the guy and.... well *blushes* etc.... but still. Why isn't anyone saying she's a sicko cause he was a minor?????

This is what has been on my mind. Care to weigh in?

Oh my! I thought you were a ghost since this thread has been dead for so long.
First off I can't stand that kid.
Second, I agree with you.
It's another case of he gets props cause he boffed an older chick.
I hope it IS his and he fires back with statutory rape.
Lmao!

Cambria (cambria409) | 3305 comments well now thanks for you 'pinion. lol. I don't hate him but I see your annoyance. My thing would be IF i was his mother I would be soo angry but maybe she's keeping quiet so an not to make this even more high profile? He maintains this kid is not his. The girls lawyers dropped her and I think its bc they know it and Justin is volunteering a paternity test. She did get more lawyers but still.

its messed up frankly.

Billie jean is not my lover, she's just a girl who says I am the one..... <~ that's me singing;)

message 697: by J.A. (new)

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments Oooh hello peeps! Nice to see this thread moving again! Alas I have nothing to add as am totally ignorant of the Bieber thing but it must be a great temptation as a teen boy to ham up the bad-boy thing, esp given the apparent squeaky-cleanness of his image.
But you are right that sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander....
