Sequels you Hate

I loved Furnace: Lockdown by Alexander Gordon Smith but the sequel, Solitary was disappointing in comparison. I'm still going to read the third one. I hope it's better. :)

I loved Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding, but just could not get into the sequel at all! I read a few chapters and just put it down. The first was a fun and entertaining book that made me actually laugh out loud frequently, but the second was just boring as all get out.

Goes back to childhood, but I loved Harriet the Spy, could never get into the sequel, The Long Secret.

my all time hated sequel is Son of Rosemary, the sequel to Rosemary's Baby. I cannot believe THE Ira Levin wrote that shitpile??????!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't hate it, but The Fourth Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants left me a little empty. I knew they had to grow up and move on, but there was something about it I couldn't put my finger on. With that said, I am excited about the 5th one coming out on Tuesday.

That's funny because I loved Scarlett. But then again I didn't actually READ Gone With the Wind. It felt a little like a stand-alone.
I liked the early Anne Rice vampire books but found some of the later ones confusing. It's been a while since I read them, and I just could not get into the Mayfair Witches.

I liked the book The Eight by Katherine Neville The Eight but hated the sequel The Fire . I think she got wayyyyy off mark with the sequel. Maybe it had to do with the years and years in between publishing

The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind got worse and worse as it went on. The first few books were okay, and then somewhere along the line, the author went off the deep end and made the main character a mouthpiece for his Randian-inspired political views. Every other character worshipped him, and the eighth book (when I finally threw in the towel) consisted of getting the point across that you were either with him, or against him. How? By having the main character killing pacifists who just happened to be in his way, with no consequence. Arrrrgh!

Other than that... hm. I loved Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, but didn't like Son of a Witch that much. I'm kind of disappointed with what Jacqueline Carey's doing with her Naamah books, but the last one comes out this month, so I'll read it nonetheless. OH WAIT, I remembered a bad one - Iron Crowned by Richelle Mead. I LOVED Storm Born, recommended it to nearly all of my friends, and enjoyed Thorn Queen, but Iron Crowned was BAD. D: I purchased the three books as an ebook bundle and asdjfasdfadsf. I heard the last one comes out in January, but I'm really not sure if I want to read it.

I loved The Hunger and Catching Fire. I was really sad that Mockingjay did not met my standards on this book.

Love love the Hunger Games. The third may not have lived up to the first two but it had to come to an end. :) Loved them!

I loved the book Knife by R'J' Anderson but I just found the sequels boring and I forgot who the charaters where so I gave up after that

There was a period where Mercedes Lackey was really starting to suck in writing her famous Valdemar series. The newer ones are getting her back on track but still not up to the oldest ones' quality.

HATE EOIN COLFER! I read book one all the way trough. It was ok but I was not reading any further.

TWILIGHT OMFG. Again read one and two. I can not bear to read 3 and 4. Waiting for movies 4 and 5. Sheesh.

Tolkien. His book literally put me to sleep every time I tried to read Fellowship. On the rockys as an audio book and in print form as well.

There is only two sequels I have read that I have really loathed...which is quite puzzling however here it goes:

Cosette: The Sequel to Les Miserables: Ever since I have had an obsession with the book by Victor Hugo and the musical I thought I would love this book. Loathing and not loving of this book made me stop dead in my tracks.

Scarlet: The Sequel to Gone With The Wind: What a total rip off, I wanted to know what happened to Scarlett and instead I couldn't feel her pain...okay like once however I had to stop because of the stupid, stupid, stupid ending to this rotten book!! No spoilers.

What I hate more is when the first book is fun, interesting, enjoyable, and I like it very much, but when I pick up the second book, it suddenly turns into an angst-fest where favourite characters die, relationships are ruined for no good reasons, and generally the tone is 10 times darker and more unpleasant compared to the first book.
Right now what comes to mind are and "Chronicles of the Warlands" by Elizabeth Vaughan and "Kingmaker Chronicles" by Amanda Bouchet, Maybe also "Parasol Protectorate" by Gail Carriger, but I didn't think the first one was amazing either...but the sequels were became practically unreadable to me.

The Red Queen series : The first book was pretty good (a bit ordinary but there was some action and stuff). But then the 2nd book came along and it was just the characters having endless inner debates and doing dumb sh*t. I gave up on the 3rd book because litteraly NOTHING was happening in the first half of the book, I decided to stop torturing myself with it.
