Darthvader | 25 comments Not a harlequin book but the The Unwanted Wife is very similar to the style of HQ's...great read.the hero is a douchebag when the story starts but he redeems himself and changes into a great charecter.the things he does for the heroine through her pregnancy is sweet.I also liked the fact that the heroine just didnt forgive him after 1 apology.he realised the amount of hurt he caused to her and worked to deserve her forgiveness & love.the heroine could have been a less of a martyr but i got over that.

Jen - Reviews | 159 comments Yes indeed, I've read this one and it's one of the longest grovel feats I've ever read in a book!

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments I like to walk down memory lane, so I spend a lot of time reading the Vintage Harlequins versus the newer ones. I just finished Intangible Dream by Patricia Wilson and Wife by Arrangment by Mary Burchell.

message 804: by Tanya (new)

Tanya Mayes | 3 comments The Unwanted Wife is one of my favorite reads. I think I should re-read it soon.

message 805: by Beth (new)

Beth (bscharwath) | 55 comments Amber Lin had a review on Dear Author this week for Tainted Love by Alison Fraser. I thought I had already read it but hadn't. I forgot HPs could be this good. I couldn't put it down. I probably wouldn't have read it if I hadn't read the review. So ignore the blurb...

message 806: by Darthvader (new)

Darthvader | 25 comments read a lot of jacqueline baird books..liked a lot of them.the heroes way too older than the heroines though.16 years difference is too much sometimes.but i liked them all the same.

marriage at his convenience by JB is hot & steamy. the H & h have a lot of sex but the dude gets away with saying and doing lot of things i would never forgive and he doesnt beg for her forgiveness properly either.made me so furious.

message 807: by Darthvader (new)

Darthvader | 25 comments also read price of a bride by michelle reid...fantastic read.great lead chrecters and somewhat different from the usual HP's.

message 808: by Sudakshina (last edited Oct 05, 2013 12:19PM) (new)

Sudakshina I just finished.
Storm's End

It was pretty good. You don't always need a sexy billionaire tycoon, hot sex and a secret baby to fill up the pages. This had a story and though typically HP, it wasn't bad. We all have read worse.

message 809: by Roub (new)

Roub (roubina) | 34 comments just read Promise to Pay. loved it ! it's an old one n really good one. hero forced heroine into marriage

Alison Fraser is an author whose books I really like, and who I would love to read more of, but she has only published 15 in HQ. Makes me wonder what happened to her.

message 813: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Any book I have read by her, I have absolutely loved. I think her books are well thought out, extremely well written and have more dimension than you typically find in a category romance.

I suspect that is why she only wrote 15. Quality more than quantity.

message 814: by Beth (new)

Beth (bscharwath) | 55 comments I'm excited I have a backlist to go through now. I can only reread michelle reid so many times a year and this is the closest I've come to one of hers or old lynne Graham's (better even)
Most if The HPs I've read from the last 24 months feel like they were spit shined and rushed out the door. They aren't developing stories like they used to. :-(

message 815: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments I haven't read any of the newer ones in a long time....They just don't stand up.

message 816: by Sudakshina (new)

Sudakshina I read a very depressing one recently. Marriage Made of Secrets :(

Her last book was published in 2004. Wish more of today's books were as well written. So many are just a total waste of reading time, what I call "me too" or "fill in the blanks".

message 818: by Darthvader (new)

Darthvader | 25 comments Pure Princess, Bartered Bride by Caitlin Crews i liked it..charming lead charecters.

message 819: by Darthvader (new)

Darthvader | 25 comments hi,can anyone suggest HP books like the ultimate betrayal by michelle reid?i mean with similar themes..thanks.

message 820: by Sudakshina (new)

Sudakshina Old angsty romance. Sister-swap. Married by deception. Cold, cruel furious hero. Anybody knows a book that fits the bill?

message 821: by Roub (last edited Nov 06, 2013 07:31AM) (new)

Roub (roubina) | 34 comments just read Chains of Regret. loved it ! if u like vintage HP wid besotted hero, it's ur book. he was beyond jealous n possessive. he was obsessed wid heroine:p

message 822: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm rereading Marchese's Forgotten Bride (Harlequin Presents, #2899) by Michelle Reid

Michelle is hands down my favorite HP author. I hope she's OK. She hasn't produced anything of late.

message 823: by Ruchi (new)

Ruchi Vasudeva | 24 comments @Stephanie, do you mean Michelle Conders?

Roub - You are brave. MP can write very brutal heroes! Not sure I have the courage to reach this one. Sounds good though.

message 827: by Roub (last edited Nov 21, 2013 09:59AM) (new)

Roub (roubina) | 34 comments hi leona ! u're so right abt MP. this hero was a brute, a savage. it's good as fantasy but in real life, the heroine wud have committed suicide. but it's really good, dunt miss it

message 828: by Darthvader (new)

It's on scrib, I'm pretty sure, and I have a copy I can email you. It's out of print, so I don't have issues with sharing/downloading.

message 833: by KatieV (new)

KatieV | 141 comments I have 3 pages worth of Penny Jordan's in my books. I've only read 3 of them. My favorite was Response, I really liked the Demetrios Virgin, and I was kinda lukewarm about The Italian Duke's Wife.

So, any opinions on which Penny Jordan to read next??

message 834: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Katie - for some reason, Penny Jordan is kind of so/so for me. I know many of the ladies love her work.

message 835: by Leona (last edited Nov 22, 2013 12:38PM) (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Just finished Cinderella in Mink by Roberta Leigh. Loved loved this one!!!

I am going to read next The Wrong Man to Love and Confirmed Bachelor

KatieV | 141 comments Leona wrote: "Katie - for some reason, Penny Jordan is kind of so/so for me. I know many of the ladies love her work."

I just love how outrageous her heroes are. I'd never put up with it IRL, but it's so fun to read. I've never read Roberta Leigh, I'll have to look into her.

message 837: by Beth (new)

Beth (bscharwath) | 55 comments I've been re reading Lynne Graham's back list...there is such a difference between her early books and the new ones...

message 838: by Sudakshina (new)

Sudakshina Leona, Cinderella in Mink is one of my favorites too. Really loved the book.

message 839: by Roub (new)

Roub (roubina) | 34 comments i gonna read Cinderella in Mink, seems a really good one :-P

message 840: by Sudakshina (new)

Sudakshina Roub, you must if you are tired of the usual alpha heroes. I also recommend Innocent Deception. Not the usual HP hero. Has anyone read Love in Disguise by Rachel Lindsay

message 841: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Onu wrote: "Leona, Cinderella in Mink is one of my favorites too. Really loved the book."

Onu, I have read Love in Disguise and liked it a lot. I have not read Innocent Deception. Will read that next. Thanks!

message 844: by Sudakshina (new)

Sudakshina Yay! I am so glad you loved it. :)

message 845: by Darthvader (new)

Darthvader | 25 comments The Italian Billionaire's Ruthless Revenge by Jacqueline Baird

so sleazy & sexist.avoid.

message 846: by Roub (new)

Roub (roubina) | 34 comments hi onu !i already have a copy of Innocent Deception. i'll read it

message 847: by Sudakshina (new)

Sudakshina Hello Roub! You must read it. I don't think you would regret it. It was wonderful. :)

I just finished The Devil's Mistress (Harlequin Presents, #552) by Sarah Holland

If the hero in Innocent Deception was too good to be true, the hero in The Devil's Mistress is a nasty piece of work. But if you are like me and enjoy a train wreck, this one is for you.

message 848: by Darthvader (new)

Darthvader | 25 comments innocent deception was quite good...i liked it.

tried to read the devil's mistress..the hero is so overbearing and the constant threats to heroine got tedious.will finish it some other day.

message 849: by Giulia (new)

Giulia | 24 comments I'm reading Sleigh Bells in the Snow (O'Neil Brothers, #1) by Sarah Morgan by Sara Morgan. She's a great HQN author and I'm really warming up to this read.
