I just finished listening to Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers read by Kate Forbes. I have never listened to an inspirational romance so this was a first for me. It isn't a category that I particularly like. I must have read a recommendation of it somewhere, but I don't remember where. In any case, I have to admit that it was pretty good - both the narration and the story.

I don't seem to be in the mood for The Manual of Detection (I really want to give the book a try) so I switched to The Witness.Funny what we talked about in another thread of reading something because it was narrated by a specific person instead of the story. I enjoyed Joyce Bean's narration of 'Cry No More' so much that I just looked for other books narrated by her with decent ratings here in GR, and picked one of those to listen next. I get all my audiobooks from the library and in the past month I've been tired of looking forward to an audiobook and not liking the narration, so going with a known commodity is really freeing.
I finished the audio for
which was really good and have started
the narrator for this one is WAAAAAAAYYYY better then the last one

Re: Gentle Rogue
Sorry! Is that hero's voice just about the worse ever? That laugh! However, this was a DIK for me in print...

Yes! LOL! The heroes voice was just creepy. The library has the book and I've placed a hold on it. The story itself looks fun.
I just started Kitty and the Midnight Hour and I'm enjoying it. The narrator is quite good.
Melinda, which book was it where the narrator mispronounces Kar-MOE-dee? That sent me off into paroxysms of eye-rolling and groaning every time she said it and I had to give up. I've stuck with print ever since for the Troubleshooters. I've finished Raziel and You Belong to Me. Working on reviews.

I don't read inspirational either, but did it for a genre challenge. I found it incredibly moving - her writing is so wonderful that I'm sorry she's pulled all the rights to her pre-inspirational work.
Diana, I'm pretty sure the narrator of Unsung Hero managed to pronounce every name wrong! It was definitely a case of ripping the earbuds out of my ears in shock! However, it has a male narrator. Was it LeaAAR who suggested starting with book 5 or 7 in audio?

I started with Book 3 and never missed a beat. Later I went back and read Books 1 and 2. I didn't care for Book 1, The Unsung Hero, much in audio or print and gave a B to Book 2, The Defiant Hero in print but haven't listened to the audio.
From Book 3 on, I found a style that is unique to Brockmann with her two secondary romances (often from years past). I did not think this would ever work for me since I'm a primary romance type of gal but I found it fascinating. Her latest books seem to be more of a continuation of established relationships in the series and not quite as fascinating to me but I'm a series fan now so I'll take what she sends our way.
Audible just released the 10 year anniversary of American Gods....has been re-recorded with a full cast for the narration...as soon as I finish the book I am listening to my current audio I am going to start it...
When they do a full cast narration - who reads the "narrator" part? I mean does one person read "He said, as he opened the door" then another reads "What are you doing in there" and the first person says "The door squeaked." or what?
I don't know if it varies from book to book, the only other full cast narration I have listened to was The Golden Compass and there was a "main" narrator that read the 3rd person type pov.....then the cast....I would assume it would be the same...
I should be done with my other book tomorrow so will be starting AG later tomorrow or Thurs...I'll let ya know what I think.I liked the original narration but it took a little bit to get used to his voice....I think the full cast (if done right) could be good for this one...

i'm almost done with Sex Lives of Cannibals (maybe and hour and a half left)...next up is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
I just finished Ice Blue on audio and loved it. Now I can't remember why I skipped Cold As Ice. I enjoyed Black Ice. I know there was a reason I skipped the second book, but I can't think of it now. ;-)
Just finished Out of Control, which is my favorite of the series so far. Now listening to Deeper Than Midnight (Hunter's book!).

I couldn't bear to listen to Unsung Hero because the na..."Melinda - after having read others in the series now, it definitely no longer reminds me of the VIrgin River series. That first book did though with the various story lines & characters who were/are in the service & the general feel. This one was pretty laid back, with very little action except for just a little at the begining & some at the end. After that the action definitely picked up in the others, which I was happy to see!

I'm still working my way through DIana Gabaldon. I finally finished Voyager. I don't think it was my favorite in the series like some people have said, but I did end up liking it much more than I did at the beginning. Then I took a little break and listened to Smokin' Seventeen: A Stephanie Plum Novel. I just keep listening to these hoping that they will get better, but they are getting so cookie cutter it's ridiculous. At least in my opinion. Then I listened to the first Lord John short story and the first book, Lord John and the Private Matter. I admit, I got bored. I guess I was expecting something very different. Like Outlander byt featuring Lord John. I thought we'd be following him in his quest for his own love or something more personal. Instead they are more like historical murder mystery stories. Which I guess if that is your thing, they are great, but it's not really mine. Now I'm back on the Outlander wagon- just about to start Drums of Autumn.
I've been wanting to listen to the Lord John books...but then, historical mysteries are my favorite. The cable on my Bose headphones is not working and I haven't been able to listen much in the last two days (I have a cheap headphones but it really doesn't feel the same so I haven't listened much.)
just finished up Curious Incident to close out the month...now prepping the ipod for JulyI need to check out the lord john books - I think I grabbed one of them from audible, so i'll have to see
I just finished the last Molly Harper book. Nice Girls Don't Live Forever (They were all narrated by Amanda Ronconi.) Time to move onto a new author and narrator. I am going to stick to 'humorous' books for a bit. A little laughter does a body good!

I read the Lord John Stories, I didn't like them very much. They usually hit those as the cheapie sales offers at audible. For me it still wasn't worth $5
ITA about Smokin' Seventeen Just freaken CHOOSE already! And I'm getting more and more pissed at her eating EVERYTHING in GREAT detail but staying thin.
