I enjoyed this book alot. I like Lachlain towards the end. I understood his pain of sitting pretty much in hell waiting for his mate and barrelling into her when he saw her. I liked how she teased him with her outfits too.

I got this book because everyone raved about it so much, but I wasn't sure how far I would get into it.

I loved this book, I love all Cole's books. Emma... tsk tsk tsk... at first i thought i'd be annoid with her, since she was so... i dunno... whats the expression i'm looking for... uhm.... "hello Kitty Vampire"? but then i started liking her, especially when she started to get snappy with him... lol! and Lachlian... well, what can i say, He's officially a Gamma male (an Alpha male with serious emotional issues lagging form the past)... and he's Scottish!!! that sold me just there.

Angela, "A Hunger Like No Other" is the first full-length novel in the series, but it's actually the second story in the series. The very first was the novella ("The Warlord Wants Forever") featuring Nikolai and Myst. You can read it for free at the following link:

You're welcome! Should be a quick read. Then the next book is No Rest for the Wicked.
I absolutely loved this book. I just started No Rest for the Wicked
I absolutely loved this book. I just started No Rest for the WickedI liked Myst and Wroths story a lot but I liked Lachlain and Emma's story even better. I can just immagine these books get better and better like J.R. Wards BDB series did.
Happy Reading everyone.
I am just coming toward the end of rereading HLNO, I love this book! It is my fave in the series.

I started this book last night. Honestly, I was not liking Lachlain..still not really but I am sure that will change. At least he is a werewolf. I love werwolves.

I didn't think Emma as whiny, so much as smothered & sheltered by her aunts. Plus, she was confused/bewildered by his actions.

I have only read like 100 pages but Emma seems so weak and fragile and Lachlain is a freaky monster. Weird combo. Not loving it yet but I have the whole series so I will keep going....

Are they (this series) a continuation of the Emma/Lachlain relationship or are there different relationships that evolve?

There are different relationships but with people from previous and future books in them and Nix seems to be in every book. I didn't read them in order, but it didn't bother me with the storyline.

Kiss of a Demon King. Although, it's not really the book itself so much as the couple. I really didn't like Rydstrom/Sabine. But there were some other cool things that happened in KoaDK. I liked Lanthe and Thronos and I'm always happy when Lothaire is around. :) Saying a book is my "least favorite" book in the IAD isn't as bad as it might normally be because I love this series so much.

I didn't really like them as a couple either as I just didn't see it, but I really liked them indivdually, especially Sabine, she was funny and sad at the same time.

I don't know how I feel about Sabine. At first I didn't like her, but I think she grew on me. I really liked Rydstrom when he was first introduced and I think reading KoaDK made me like him less...if that makes sense. LOL. I didn't like what Sabine brought out in him.

I quite liked her it was interesting that KC used someone who was meant to be evil as her heroine.

I get what you mean about Ryd, although you knew he had to be a little crazy kinky underneath all that logical good boy exterior, that is what is yummy about him I think : ) But KoaDK isn't my fave book either, just because I still don't see Ryd and Sabine together.
Yeah, it was hinted that Ryd had a wild side underneath his kingly exterior. LOL.
Yeah, it was hinted that Ryd had a wild side underneath his kingly exterior. LOL. About Sabine, I don't mind a heroine who is supposed to be evil, but something about her rubbed me the wrong way. Though, like I said, she did grow on me once I went back and re-read the book.
I tend to find when I re-read a book it changes my opnion on it, generally for the better for some reason.

Mari is one of my faves, for sure. And Nix, even if she hasn't had her own book yet. I guess we'll see if her book changes my opinion at all. But, truth be told, I've liked almost all of the heroines thus far and all of the heroes. I think KC does a great job with her characters.

I did not like the person Rydstrom became with Sabine (who I truly can not stand) so KotDK is definitely not my favorite in this series. I loved Rydstrom's character in Bowen/Mari's story so was disappointed with KotDK.

I loved Sabine. After the life she led, to be able to have any sort of kindness was amazing. I loved her off kilter sense of humor and how she ended up really caring for Rydstrom and even that little boy. Kiss of a Demon King was my favorite of the series and Sabine and Rydstrom are my favorite couple.

See I am not so convinced by them as a couple, but I do like them indivdually. Sabine especially was very interesting and the scene that I always remember most about her from that book is when she is brought back but buried and has to dig herself up, it always makes me shudder!

I loved both Sabine and Rystrom. I think Rydstrom had to get in touch with his dark side. He was repressing a lot of that. Sabine popped his cork, so to speak. I love all the books. I admit some of the chasing went on a bit long, and there was a lot of tying up. But I had no issues.
I also love A Hunger Like No Other. Lachlain was an animal, and I freaking loved him. But then, I have a soft spot for crazy heroes! Emma didn't bother me at all. My least favorite heroine in the IAD was Kaderin. She worked my nerves. But, she ending up being okay.

I love crazy male heroes like Lachlain. He is my favorite from the IAD series. Plus, he's Scottish. I melt for a Scottish accent. Put him in a kilt and mt knees would go weak. I love the dual personality that he struggled with: the man & the beast.

Lachlain is my favorite from the series as well as well although he is a bit psychotic at first and who can blame him!? I loved the way he came to care for Emma. I also liked Emma and how it showed her becoming stronger throughout the book, ha lachlain didn't stand a chance : )

     Agree with you Suzanne
Agree with you SuzanneWho can blame him if he become crazy cause he has tortured for a hundred years :(
To be chained and then burning in pit like hell. Ahh, cant imagine that :(
(and poor Furie too, to be drowning in the deep of ocean)
Lol, maybe we should do a poll, which do you prefer: Burning to death for all eternity or drowning!?! I persoanlly would pick drowining I think!

That is one downside of being immortal, too much scope for torture. I think if I was immortal me and my Lykae mate would stay off the radar : D

And me and my Vampire mate (a.k.a Conrad, ^^) will travel to anywhere i want, cause he can flashed us in blink of eye ;)

I would like an immortal hero who has all of the IAD guys' traits, since I love them all equally. :)

This is the story of Lachlain MacRieve and Emmaline Troy.
From Kresley Cole's website:
A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her...
After enduring years of torture from the vampire Horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.
A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy...
Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents--until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae--and their notorious dark desire--ebb as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.
An all consuming desire...
Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be...?
