I'm done with my "Author with an 'S'" book:

My review: I should know better by now that if the book says anything about The Hunger Games that I should NOT buy it, but this one was slightly better than the others that I've been duped into buying. This is the story of Vera who lives in a dystopian midwest town. Fresh water is scarce and the government has managed to pit groups of people against each other, but of course, all they want is fresh water. Vera meets Kai, who knows where the water is. He eventually goes missing (duh? he knows where the water is) and Vera and her brother, Will, take an accidental trek across the northern part of the US and Canada to find him. The characters are no where near as developed as Katniss and the HG crew and the Stratcher's message is loud and clear (where Suzanne Collins' message is a bit more subtle)...stop wasting water.

Three stars

I have finished Body of Sin ( June 7th ) and give it 4 stars. The kicker is I can't give a full review cause it isn't due out til August so I can't post it til mid July at the earliest. All I can say is that if you enjoy the Otherkin series you will love this 4th installment and I suggest you pre order it now.

Archangel's Kiss 6.7.11 ***1/2

This book was different than I expected, but not necessarily in a bad way. Based on the blurbs, I thought the book would involve more butt-kicking and action. Lijuan is an ancient archangel who is evolving in a scary, the-world-is-doomed kinda way and I thought the story would focus on Elena and Raphael trying to stop her. Ends up, it's mostly about Elena's recovery from the events of Book 1, developing her relationship with Raphael, and getting to know the folks in Raphael's world. I think Singh's writing style is a little too flowery for my taste, but I enjoyed the story and am curious about the next story.

Nici - since you're rounding up the first categories reads, would you like the honor of posting on the chip placement board?

Our board is still empty (for now), so I would suggest one of the middle slots? D1 or E1. What do you ladies think? And if other teams start placing chips, we can do some plotting before placing ours ;)

finally! I have finished Archangel's Kiss and give it four stars. It was a very good book. As Vivian said, there was less violence than i expected, however i wasn't bored. The story line moved well and the development of characters and the world itself flowed well for me. 6/7

Kristen, if you're still looking/deciding from Steph's list - Called by Blood, Dragon's Blood & Pack Alpha are good, novella length stories. All are first of series.

King of the Unblessed & Last Wolf Standing are mmp length.

My fav of these is Pack Alpha followed by Dragon's Blood.
