no, when those random people attacked his family they killed everyone they could get their hands on, namely Mircea's mother and father, but his wife was living in a separate village, and she didn't die until much later. She died after she went searching for Dory and went to Vlad for help finding Dory, but he had her impaled for telling blasphemous lies about his brother being a vampire etc.

i guess i'm just awesome like that. joke, i just have a really good memory about things i love, and i love the Dory series just as much as the Cassie series ^_^and Dory was away because when her mother saw she was a dhampir, the people in her village advised her to drown Dory in the river. But instead her mother passed her on to a group of travelling gypsies who where pretty mean to her and kept her around to scare off any regular vampires who might threaten them. Then after a while her mother regretted that decision, and when looking for Dory, but she had no idea where the gypsies would be now as they travel so much, which is why she went to Vlad for help, and thus got herself impaled.
speaking of this, why on earth do we never talk more about the Dory series?
i dont know - maybe because theres only 2 books...so not as much has happened.
very true. plus, there's less room for speculation about what will happen the dory series - less of a major plot that's continued through the books. and no god damn cliffhangers!!! i both love and hate the ending to HtM. All this waiting for Cassie to save Pritkin in the next book when it finally comes out kind of makes me feel like Pritkin's also waiting this long it hell O_obut speaking of theories about the dory series, anyone else think Louis Cesare has some awesome master ability like turning invisible? I think it's kind of hinted at by Marlowe...
I'm gone for a couple of days and you guys shoot off without me! But Somnium is correct on all dots. Very good memory, i give you props! :)
As for Dorys book, i'm waiting for them to go into Faeire....i'm thinking maybe Mircea is goimg to try to get her to go after Tony. That and i'm hoping Cademon is going to come back and try to make Louis-Ceasar jealous! :)

I'm hoping Mircea's story is going to invlove meeting Dory's mom, or getting turned into a vamp, or maybe meeting Dory for the firt time. But i really want all of those together. But knowing Karen it'll be with new chacters....
im thinking i should prob re-read the dory series cause i cant remember everything thats happened. :Si cant even remember who Cademon is... even though i could prob guess.

He is indeed. Although I was never too clear on where he ruled all the light fey, or just the Blarestri... And as for Louis-Cesare turning himself invisible, we never see it, but Marlowe somewhat hints about Louis-Cesare's abilities to move undetected in Death's Mistress when he and Dory are discussing whether or not Louis-Cesare could have gotten in to the Consul's home to kill Litkin.
"But he (Louis-Cesare) is quite familiar with the Consul's home and could easily have evaded security."
"Without being seen?" I demanded. "Coming or going?"
Marlowe arched an eyebrow. "It seems that you do not know Louis-Cesare as well as I had thought."
It could easily not be invisibility, that was just a theory I saw on Karen Chance's Q&A.

I'd love to see Pritkin kick someones ass if they brought that up with him there! I loved how Karen made that happen. Shes really good at just using the basis of a myth and creating an in depth story about it. :) I don't think a vamp really needs to be invisible. They're already super fast!
Helena's a really pretty name. I hope Karen does make a short about them.

which is something i have been looking forward to for a very long time! i've always wondered just how much of a factor Cassie's power and position are to him, and how much he manipulates her without her realising it...

fair point ;) Mircea's POV ought to be very interesting - it's the first time we really get to know what's going on inside his head, and what he really thinks as opposed to what he shows of his thoughts to other people. on a random side note, was anyone else a little disappointed in HtM that Mircea and Pritkin where never is the same room together for the whole book? i love the interactions between those two.

I never even thought about that!!! So Mircea knows how Pritkin feels about Cassie!! Which means that if Pritkin was avoiding him then theres no doubt about it!! He loves Cassie!!! I mean it was a tiny bit obvious when A Family Affair came out but still!! It has to be offical!! It will be an amazing scene and im absolutely dying to read it!!!
hooray! i'm really looking forwards to that chat between Pritkin and Mircea. shame that Masks is set before HtM, so it definitely won't be in that :'(but speaking of fun interactions between characters to look forwards to, does anyone know if Louis-Cesare has figured out that Françoise isn't dead? i don't think he has, and i can't wait to see his reaction when he finds out she's running round present Vegas!

Ah thats good to know. Wow i think i need to re-read the series. Its been a while. Do you think Karen is ever going to put them re-meeting in one of the books? And if so which one?
i really hope she does - it would be a good scene, and a nice little crossover between the Cassie and Dory series. no idea as to what book though - possibly one in the Cassie series, as Dory has no idea who Françoise is...
True. :) Sorry its been a while since i've been near a computer. (i don't live in the stone age i swear, my computer has a virus.)So have you guys read Pritkins new short? I LOVED it!!!! Can you believe he acutally smiled?!!!!! But it kinda sucks to see how much he changed. His wife turned him bitter. :'( When did this take place? Because Jonas is OLD!!!!!
Damn old! You know, if he's known Pritkin for over one hundred years, I wonder if he's ever noticed that Pritkin doesn't age - oh, wait, I'm being an idiot. Jonas knows he's half demon *facepalm*. Sorry, blonde moment there. Anyways I don't know when it's set, but I'm pretty certain it's at some point in the 1800s. But it never occured to me that Pritkin had really known Jonas for that long! Do you reckon Jonas knows about what happened with his wife - at least the part that she died and Pritkin's life got shit?
I know!!!!! How is he still alive?! I mean i know that he has spells and stuff but isn't there a limit? He probably does know what happened huh? I loved how Pritkin pointed out Jonas' dandelion poof, and now he has the same kind of hairstyle. :) I loved how KC gave the fence a personality, but I wished there was more to the story. It was just one tiny Pritkin fix :( not nearly enough to keep me from going mad from withdrawl!!!
Aww, I really liked that fence. I want a fence just like it in my garden :) On a random side note, does anyone actually know what kind of fey blood Pritkin has? From the short I got the impression it was light fey, but during HtM he mentioned looking for his 'associate' in dark fey territory, so up to now I'd assumed he was part dark fey...

im pretty sure mages live for about 250 yrs??also i thought pritkin's mother had dark fey blood in her...? but im not sure now after reading the short story about his house....

I just checked when pritkin got back from hell and it was in 1793 more or less. So yup Jonas is around 200. So do you think Jonas knows more about Pritkin than we know?
I don't think Jonas has known Pritkin the whole time since he got back - but it must have been at least 100 years. And it's either EtN or CtD where they mention mages have about double the lifespan of forms, but i think they can only live up to 200 years. Maybe we should ask Karen Chance how old Jonas is and how long he's known Pritkin. I really do love Jonas ^_^

Mircea, because he is hawt!(fans herself)...but then I'd get all shy and freak out because he is a really powerful and centuries old vampire - so maybe not :)
LOL Anna, yeah, I think meeting Mircea would be like meeting a rock star or a movie star or someone like that. (Well, it does say in the books that because of his family name, he's like a rockstar in the vamp world). I'd probably get all tongue-tied and blush and talk nonsense!I think the key to catching Marlowe's interest would be to play it cool, and act mysterious like you're up to no good. That's my theory anyway LOL!
