Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Is the book better than the movie or vise-versa?
The book is much better than the movie. None of the movies even come close to the books, except the first one - that one does a good job of getting almost everything in there. The movies all present the main details of what's actually happening through montages and dialogue whereas the books give you details on what's happening and why.
deffinetley the book, although this is the best movie by far. it follows the book really well and i can't wait to see the second part this summer!
Well, I must admit that I prefer the books. The fact that you can get so much more detail and understanding in a book will always give it step up from any movie. However, I thought they did a fairly good job of translating the book into movie on this one. I am glad they broke it into two movies in order to get as much in as possible. I would have been happy to sit through a longer version of any of the movies, if they could have made them closer to the books.
I expect in the next movie they will extend the battle scene with Harry and Voldemort. I always found that particular scene a bit anti-climatic in the book.
Book. The movie messes stuff up. =P Like the burrow catching fire in number 6! What on earth?!?? The movies aren't bad though.
I've liked all of the books better than the movies.but the movies are really good. And I like that they don't keep things 100% the same as in the book. It gives you an extra something.
I will reserve my answer to that after seeing the second film. I hear there are one or two significant changes from the book (notably a longer Voldemort & Harry duel). How they end it will be the most important shot in the series.
obviously the books are way better because of all the character development and details and so much more but I have to say that the last movie was actually the first movie that I think is a good adaptation of the first part of the last book.
I've watched all the movies in the theater so far and I'll definitely go to the last part but I really don't think they're a good adaptation.. it's just fun to see what you read in the theater.

Books! The movies are a misinterpretation of what actually go on in the books! There is so much detail in the books that actually make you realise what is going on which they didn't represent in the movies! The movies are good but the books are way better! I actually think its time to give the series a second read...
I have to agree with you Emma! The last movie was the only one that was a close representation of what goes on in the books, but I think for people who don't read the books and watch only the movies it's way too late to realise how much detail they actually missed out on...!
Tabu wrote: "Definitely Books.. For any stories, books rules.."That is not QUITE true. Not ALL book/movies the books are better. Haven't met a case like it, but, there is still one (or two).
the book hands down
if the book came before the film the book is ALWAYS better
if the book came before the film the book is ALWAYS better
this issue is not worth discussing..the books are definitely better than the movies...well, this is quite obvious when you compare movie 6 n book 6..duhh..the movie was disappointing~
I agree ^ There's never ever a real competition - the books, in Snape's word "Always."Even if the movies did all the books complete justice (which they didn't, especially the 4-6th movies), the books will forever be a treasure that nothing and no one can replicate to it's ultimate maginificance!
Books are always better in my opinion =]
same here.
ALWAYS the books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ALWAYS the books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although the movies are very enjoyable and stay close to the books in theme and feel, the books are def. better.

I think the movie was absolutley amazing. Althought the book goes into much detail, i was kind of bored after a while. Its like over 700 pages long and I think it would be better if she broke it up into 2 different books and she could start where she left off.
I agree with everyone who said the books are the best! Because they are. I agree with what Anthony said about the movies just being a basic outline. The thing I dislike most about the movies is when they change something that happens in the book or when they add a new scene (the added scenes are usually stupid). I used to hate that they cut out scenes from the books that I liked, but I've realized that obviously it's impossible to have everything from the books in the movies.
Of course the books were better. There were more detail and you got to know exactly what Harry was thinking. Also, the books are long and have a lot in them, so scenes get cut for the movie. While I understand that they have to do this... it sucks. And so I'm totally for the books.
The books were completely amazing and although I do like the films, they aren't nearly as good!
I like both the movies and the books.....it would be boring if the movies were EXACTLY like the books (word for word0 so i like both
