Emma Do you like the movie better or the book?
I liked the book.

Anthony Pinder The book is much better than the movie. None of the movies even come close to the books, except the first one - that one does a good job of getting almost everything in there. The movies all present the main details of what's actually happening through montages and dialogue whereas the books give you details on what's happening and why.

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) Well, they only have so many hours with movies... But definitely the books.

Leanne How can you even compare the two!!??!

Tabu Thevarajan Definitely Books.. For any stories, books rules..

Lucy Definitely the books, even if the movies are goods.

Corin deffinetley the book, although this is the best movie by far. it follows the book really well and i can't wait to see the second part this summer!

Holly Books, all the way!!!!!!

Charlotte Books ALWAYS beat movies. ALWAYS.

David Overmyer Well, I must admit that I prefer the books. The fact that you can get so much more detail and understanding in a book will always give it step up from any movie.

However, I thought they did a fairly good job of translating the book into movie on this one. I am glad they broke it into two movies in order to get as much in as possible. I would have been happy to sit through a longer version of any of the movies, if they could have made them closer to the books.

I expect in the next movie they will extend the battle scene with Harry and Voldemort. I always found that particular scene a bit anti-climatic in the book.

κίρστεν (Kirsten) Book. The movie messes stuff up. =P Like the burrow catching fire in number 6! What on earth?!?? The movies aren't bad though.

Kate I've liked all of the books better than the movies.

but the movies are really good. And I like that they don't keep things 100% the same as in the book. It gives you an extra something.

Steve I will reserve my answer to that after seeing the second film. I hear there are one or two significant changes from the book (notably a longer Voldemort & Harry duel). How they end it will be the most important shot in the series.

obviously the books are way better because of all the character development and details and so much more but I have to say that the last movie was actually the first movie that I think is a good adaptation of the first part of the last book.
I've watched all the movies in the theater so far and I'll definitely go to the last part but I really don't think they're a good adaptation.. it's just fun to see what you read in the theater.

Angelique Books! The movies are a misinterpretation of what actually go on in the books! There is so much detail in the books that actually make you realise what is going on which they didn't represent in the movies! The movies are good but the books are way better! I actually think its time to give the series a second read...

Angelique I have to agree with you Emma! The last movie was the only one that was a close representation of what goes on in the books, but I think for people who don't read the books and watch only the movies it's way too late to realise how much detail they actually missed out on...!

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) Tabu wrote: "Definitely Books.. For any stories, books rules.."

That is not QUITE true. Not ALL book/movies the books are better. Haven't met a case like it, but, there is still one (or two).

the book hands down
if the book came before the film the book is ALWAYS better

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) That maybe true! I hope it is....

Nusreta Illjazovic Book all the way.

Alipz this issue is not worth discussing..the books are definitely better than the movies...well, this is quite obvious when you compare movie 6 n book 6..duhh..the movie was disappointing~

Tas le Fay I agree ^ There's never ever a real competition - the books, in Snape's word "Always."
Even if the movies did all the books complete justice (which they didn't, especially the 4-6th movies), the books will forever be a treasure that nothing and no one can replicate to it's ultimate maginificance!

Books are always better in my opinion =]

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

same here.
ALWAYS the books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) I love the sixth movie! It's my first favorite movie and book! I didn't think it was disappointing.

Isabelle I love them both the same

Jessica The books all the way

BubblesTheMonkey I love the books more than the movies, for sure!

message 31: by Lauren (new) - added it

Lauren Gorczyca Although the movies are very enjoyable and stay close to the books in theme and feel, the books are def. better.

totally

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) The movies are AWESOME. The books are WONDERFUL AND SPECTACULAR.

Laura Emma wrote: "Do you like the movie better or the book?
I liked the book."

I think the movie was absolutley amazing. Althought the book goes into much detail, i was kind of bored after a while. Its like over 700 pages long and I think it would be better if she broke it up into 2 different books and she could start where she left off.

message 36: by Laura (last edited Jun 19, 2011 01:52PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Laura well thats what i think

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) Oh well. I think they did, and are doing okay. Especially with the sixth.

Laura yeah i think so too

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) :) Glad you agree with me about that!

Laura Haha yeah for once we agree!

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) :) Ha ha. I bet we agree about some OTHER things....

Adela Bezemer-Cleverley I agree with everyone who said the books are the best! Because they are. I agree with what Anthony said about the movies just being a basic outline. The thing I dislike most about the movies is when they change something that happens in the book or when they add a new scene (the added scenes are usually stupid). I used to hate that they cut out scenes from the books that I liked, but I've realized that obviously it's impossible to have everything from the books in the movies.

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) I know. Especially HP. Because, it's REALLY LONG! Not that I want it different. ;)

Andrea Wall Of course the books were better. There were more detail and you got to know exactly what Harry was thinking. Also, the books are long and have a lot in them, so scenes get cut for the movie. While I understand that they have to do this... it sucks. And so I'm totally for the books.

Samantha You can't call yourself a true Potterhead until you've read the books. All. Of the books.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

The books were completely amazing and although I do like the films, they aren't nearly as good!

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) True that. But the directors do the best they can.

Anshu The books are way better than the movies. There are always so many details missing in the movies.

Laura I like both the movies and the books.....it would be boring if the movies were EXACTLY like the books (word for word0 so i like both

Laura But i think that the books were better when it came to detail, but the movies were also entertaining
