Is the book better than the movie or vise-versa?

book is much much better than movie......the details are given in it and movies are just summary, they are suitable for kids not teens......but books are good for all age group.....and moreover book reading extends the boundaries of imagination.....sounds boring but true ;)

I definitely like the book better, because they couldn't fit all the details in the book into the movie. As it is, they had to split Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows into two parts.

Definitely the books...

I haven't watched a movie that is better than the books...it just disappoints me sometimes (well most of the times) when the movie adaptation just came short...I mean you've waited for the movie because you want to see a particular scene put on the screen then they just cut it (the whole battle on the lightning struck tower, anyone else disappointed?)

That's hard to say because before I read them in print I audio-read them. The narrator was Jim Dale and they were as entertaining and interesting as the movies. When I print-read them I already had Jim Dale's interpretation of the characters in my head.

As a general rule, I personally think films can't even compare with books, with one exception: The Lord of the Rings! :)

I'm going to be the devil's advocate and admit that I liked Part 1 more than I liked Deathly Hallows. I was borderline for the first half of the book. But, I think that Part 1 has been the best movie so far.

It's also possible that I like the Order of the Phoenix movie more than like the book. I like the book, but there too many parts where it dragged for me, more so than the other ones.

The books are SOOO much better than the movies! They left out so many funny parts from the book... though I must say the "Spiders? Why spiders? Why don't we follow the butterflies?" part WAS pretty funny.
