It's time to nominate books for the June Fantasy theme - First book in a Series .... this will be read starting June 15th and once I have 5 or 6 nominations, we can vote on the specific book.

Nominations
The Iron Lance by Stephen R. Lawhead
The Silent Tower by Barbara Hambly
Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis
The Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin
Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb

Sandra (sleo) Barbara Hambly's The Silent Tower. All her stuff is newly available in eformat.

I'm going to nominate The Iron Lance by Stephen R. Lawhead. This is an historical fiction set in the Crusades and the first of a trilogy.

Charles (nogdog) Not a nomination, but a request: if you want me to even consider reading it, please pick a series that is either (a) short (say 4 books or less) or (b) is not a serial but simply a series of related stand-alone books. I am not going to start some long, Robert Jordanesque epic that just keeps going on and on.

Well, no one said you had to continue on past the first book ;-)

Then don't vote for the Dragonlance series ... :)

stormhawk | 75 comments I'd like to nominate The Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett

(because I didn't want to start a Fantasy Book Order Flame War by suggesting Narnia ... which, of course, starts with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) ;)

Eric (proggyboog) I'll bring it up again, as it got edged out last time we voted on it: The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin.

Not a huge book, self-contained, and book 1 of a trilogy. (Book 2 is already out.) I just finished it, and thought it a four-star, borderline five-star read.

I'd like to second this request.
