This story is set around the beautiful Poinciana tree, with its amazing red flowers.
Suzanne Matthews arrives home from work to find the kitchen in disarray and her daughter missing. After searching the house, her eyes turn towards the garden, drawn to the Poinciana tree. Underneath its canopy she sees her daughter, slumped against its trunk.
When the police are unable to identify Jennifer’s killer, they turn their attention to her husband, Mark. Whilst trying to cope with her grief, she finds herself fighting to prove her husband’s innocence, as her world is turned upside down. She is inspired by another woman, who went with her husband to the Sudan as medical volunteers for a charity organisation.
A tale of raw emotion, desperation and acceptance.

Gaya: A second chance

In a future not so far away, a diverse group of carefully selected people are sent to Gaya, a planet very much like Earth. They want to build a better world: free of war, pollution, racism, and greed.
The settlers find a paradise of undisturbed nature – but they soon meet unknown dangers, poisonous plants, and aggressive animals. Above all, they have to deal with each other: a bunch of people with different ideas and desires, memories and individual quirks. And not everyone is willing to follow the rules.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas time and a great New Year!

It is a science fiction novel centred on the perspective of a horse, who uses technology to communicate with his owners. By doing so, he also attracts all sorts of attention towards himself and his owners -- welcome and unwelcome.

So far, this has been a phenomenal day. I'm profoundly grateful. Unfortunately for me, though, the novel is currently available in Dutch only. But maybe, just maybe, one day... An author can dream. It's part of the job.
Anyway, I'll translate the Dutch book summary for you:
"The morning horizon is still colored byzantine when ornithologist Alphonse 'Fons' van Felius rents a sailing boat in a somnolent French coastal village and sets sail for Les Sept Îles, an archipelago hosting tremendous flocks of ghannets.
During his tempestuous journey Fons inimitably connects the Great Events that have happened throughout and have impacted his life the most. These newfound insights supercharge his feeble presumptions that birds are the harbingers of destiny after all, no matter how inconsolable they turn out to be with the voices of reason. What started off as an innocent sailing expedition gradually turns into a spiritual quest propelling Fons to the brink of collapse, fighting the good fight to avoid tipping over.
Maanscherf is a Bildungsroman about fathers and sons, friendship, identity, and what happens to a fragile mind when life, loaded with certainties and, is minutely dismantled by the relentless forces of nature."
Hope the summary makes some sense, as English is not my mother tongue. Among other vendors, Maanscherf is now available on the Dutch Amazon website.
Here's to you, my colleagues!

I'm Neil, I'm from the UK, and I write stories (mainly for kids) and music. My stories are kind of throwaway, silly stories, but sometimes in life we need some throwaway silliness to raise our spirits.
This is one of my songs, about a character from one of my books:

I was listening to "Real Real Gone" by Van Morrison at the time, so I tried to put a horn section with a similar vibe in the background. I was pleased with it.
