Mary (earth2res) | 81 comments I am not totally sure if this is a book or movie, but I think it is a book. A man with a suitcase is trying to catch a train. He hands his suitcase to a man in the back of the train. The man who has the suitcase smirks because he does not think the other man can catch the train. The man trying to catch the train realizes that he will not get his suitcase back if he does not catch the train so he manages to run faster and catch the train.

Mary, are you still looking for this book? If yes, any idea when it was published?

Mary (earth2res) | 81 comments Yes I am, but I have no idea when it was published. Thank you for your response. I had forgotten my post.

Mary (earth2res) | 81 comments Yes I am. Did anything like that happen in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn?

I can't remember - hopefully someone else will.

Michele | 2488 comments Did the bit with the suitcase and the train happen at the beginning or the end? Does he know the man he hands it to? Any idea where the train was going? Do you have a sense of the general "feel" of the story -- horror, suspense, realistic story? Any idea of the time or place where the story was set, for example 1920s America, 1890s England? Was it a steam engine?

Mary (earth2res) | 81 comments I think it happened in the US, probably New York. The time it took place was probably late 1800's to 1940. I think the man who ran for the train was telling someone else what had happened .

SamSpayedPI | 2306 comments I don't remember that happening in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and I read it several times, FWIW.

Thanks. I didn’t think it was that book, but I think it’s the same time period.

Mary ~~
You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 176 where fewer eyes will see it. Get back in the game! Bump!
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!
