MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments This is the thread to discuss Daemons Are Forever. Be good. Stay on topic at least 25% of the time. Try to mark spoilers.
:-)

I'm going to start reading it today.

Laurel Curses - I haven't even read the first one yet!

I can't separate all the Drood books in my mind, the stories all run together.

@Ala - your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to start reading Monster Hunter International.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Now is a perfect time to knock some TBR lists down by 2!

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments lol! I know the feeling. I'm supposed to read Hounded with someone else. Speaking of Hounded, I need to go buy a copy...

I'm about 100 pages into Daemons Are Forever. The action started early, which I love. Eddie is being a little stupid and thinks he's stronger than he is - which is what men do.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments Oops! Didn't see this had started...I'll snatch it from my shelf and add it to my current reads!

message 11: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I kinda figured that you hadn't started yet, so I paused for a while. :-)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments Got it out and on top of Darkness of the Gods etc. I'll probably start it tomorrow if I can...

message 13: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 28 comments Can I join y'all? I just started it today and am around page 80. It is interesting to see Eddie dealing with the aftermath of the first book and all the politics that entails. He really isn't suited for it.

message 14: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Of course you can join in! The more, the merrier!

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments Otherwise why would they let me in? :) That's why it's a "buddy read. LOL

message 16: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 28 comments Well, I'm up to around pg 130 now and I'm really surprised that Eddie left the house so soon after Harry showed up. I think that's going to come back and bite him in the you-know-where.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments Careful...not a spoiler thread.

message 18: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 28 comments Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "Careful...not a spoiler thread."

But we are suppose to discuss the book here, right? I kept it as vague as I could.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments Right, not being hard to get along with. We usually just do a "spoiler below" warning or something....

message 20: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (last edited May 23, 2011 08:16AM) (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Spolier tags are super easy! all you have to do is: < spoiler> text text text< /spoiler> (remove the spaces and it looks like this: (view spoiler)

But if you don't want to use spoiler tags, just type something like this:

-------- Spoilers below --------

text text text

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

It Is a bit silly when the spoiler tags get out of control tho. I always feel a bit strange when I enter a thread and see 90% of the comments hidden. I'd almost prefer a discussion thread to just be posted as containing spoilers and the conversation to take place freely.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments Well, we can have 2 threads...one can be for people still reading and the other could have spoilers...or not.

I might have peeked at the end. Some days I can't take suspense.

*ducks and hides*

message 26: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 28 comments Well, I finally finished it. I really liked it. It was as good as the first book, but in a different way. I really enjoyed getting to know more of the family. Everything else I'm going to say will be behind a spoiler screen.

(view spoiler)

message 27: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, *good karma* (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Acck! Haven't finished, this has been a slow week or two for me.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments A little more than half way through... depends on how much time I can put into sitting and reading now.

message 29: by carol. , Senor Crabbypants (new)

carol. | 2616 comments I got sidetracked and read The Native Starinstead. While I've read a lot of Green, in some ways his writing reminds me of graphic novels or action movies--characters drawn in broad lines without a lot of subtleties in frankly unrealistic settings. I get it, that's the point, and there's been times I've enjoyed the casually violent mayhem of John Taylor and Susie. Maybe that's partly what bothers me about Eddie and Molly--they remind me too much of the Nightside books.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments ****************** Possible small spoiler ***********

I have the Death Stalker books (or several of them) on my shelves waiting. Thought the cameo was "interesting".

message 31: by Mike (the Paladin) (last edited May 28, 2011 03:51PM) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments Finished it...pretty good. To say more will have spoilers in it. I thought it took a while to get going, mostly because Green seemed to felt he had to "catch everybody up". Then it took off.

message 32: by Amanda (new)

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) I'm seriously late on this but I'm 100 pages in :) I think in a way the reason I like this one so much is that the humor reminds me of Doctor Who. Lots of fast dialogue and back and forth smartassery especially between Eddie and Molly. Love Molly to death btw :)
