As an indie author of time traveling Epic Fables I was astounded to see a newly discovered ancient hearth near my country home. The power company, cutting a new line, left it unscathed.
European settlement began in this region in the 1700's & as it's hand stacked rough stones with no mortar, it may well date from that Time Frame.
What a blast, I've walked near it many times, it's off the path I take to the river, but I never knew I was there.
What great energy this is I wonder, almost gives me an idea for a new book.
There's pics on my fan page & I'm so pleased by this real time distortion I'd post them here if I knew how.
Travel the timestream & check 'em out:

Very cool, I think.
I read both "indie" authors and traditionally published authors. I'm an indie myself. But I'm also publishing ebooks of my father's novels that were traditionally published but are now out of print. So how would you classify his novels?Personally, I don't care who publishes a book. I'm looking for an entertaining read and could not care less if it's published by a publishing house or some guy like me who uploads his ebooks to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.
I could not tell you who publishes the books by my favorite authors, or who published my favorite books. I never look at a book description and say, "Hey, this was published by Random House. I gotta have it!"
BTW, if you're interested in getting more info on my novels and those by my father (William L. Heath), visit my web page.
Merrill Heath
Thanks Merrill, I'm definitely going to check your work out. And I completely agree regarding publishers. In the end it's about entertainment and what makes each if us happy.
Thanks Merrill and E. As an Indie author, I like hearing you say that you read books based on their entertainment regardless of who publishes them. I heartily agree, and have watched the self-published world grow and become more sophisticated. We do need to enforce quality, but self-published books are definitely on the rise!
As self-published myself I might be a bit biased (;But that's exactly why I try and read and review indie and self-published writers. If I want others to give me a chance who am I to close the door on someone who could turn out to be one of my favorite writers. I also don't like relying solely on companies to determine what I am going to like the most.

I missed "The Maze" freebie but here is the link for "Anymore": http://www.amazon.com/Anymore-MacLare...
Here's the current U.S. stats: #1,004 Free in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Free in Kindle Store)

I've now downloaded and tweeted this out. Hope it helps your stats.

I cannot believe, after all that, I only put the ASINs. I definitely need a break from this. I wanted the one freebie to start when the other one had its last day and totally mucked it up. It all looks fine today and the one day for the Maze did better than its last two day. I also made a better cover for Anymore which will put up Thursday. Note to self: this is supposed to be fun.
Virginia, you sound stressed but in the larger Timeframe you journey is on track, even if at moments it may not seem so.Don't be discouraged, we've all been where you found yourself, lost in translation, so to speak.
Hang in Virginia, persistence always pays off.
By the by, the Heroine of my latest Epic Fable is named Ginny & she never gives up or in either.
Virginia, this sounds fantastic but it's true. Both of my books have very strong women charactors & in each case the strongest ones are redheads.
Write what you know.
One is tall, frecklefaced w/ blue eyes & the second is shorter, pale & has green eyes.
Just covering my bases.
Mine are all green eyed, five foot, related to each other, four books so far. SO MUCH FUN...I call it revisionist history.
Virginia, all history is a judgement call.Much better to go there & see for yourself.
By the way, in my second Epic Fable Ginny is an Historian, go figure.
I had 200 downloads the first day and maybe twelve cross sales. For me, good.http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007047VIE
ANYMORE, the fourth in a series of modern love stories.
I said I wouldn't come over here to do promos but I hope you will forgive me just this once....Over on our Goodreads group we have a regular author by the name of Darren Humphries. He has become a really good contributor to the group in many ways. Last week he took part in a 'live' chat on the group. They tend to be a bit mad because Goodreads doesn't really do that very well. Anyway, at the end of the interview he announced the release of his new book : Goodnight Dear: The Unsentimental Diary Of A Bereaved Husband
It is currently FREE on Amazon. It is not Darrens usual genre but I think it is a very brave diary and one that has rather knocked our group for six. I thought some of you might like to read it.
Goodnight Dear: The Unsentimental Diary Of A Bereaved Husband
Blurb :
Maïté Humphries-Farge died on January 14th 2011, quite suddenly and without warning.
She was not targeted by a serial killer or the victim of some vampire boyfriend's nemesis because this was not fiction. This was merely the kind of day-to-day family tragedy that barely makes the local news.
This is the story of the first year after Maïté's death, as told in diary entries made by her husband, recounted in the hope that anyone involved in a committed relationship who reads it might think to find out where the insurance policy is, decide to take out that funeral plan or simply ask themselves what they would do if it happened to them.
Because it happens to someone every day.
(Any author royalties made from the sale of this ebook will be donated to bereavement counselling charities)

Hey, I can use some support. Since using the Kindle Select Promos I have had a somewhat regular pace of sales, nothing super but still...Since about the 15th of this month, sales stopped. by stopped I mean sales dropped from about 3 a day to absolute 0. I've used the same tags for months and sales have been 'steady'. Now, nada. I'm wondering if I need go stick my head under the 'book details' hood and monkey around. The intro volume isn't even bringing up the other volumes of the same title as 'people also bought.'
Please take a few minutes and see if you can find any of the three volumes of 'The Platte River Waltz' using any of the tags: historical, historical fiction, historical romance, frontier fiction, western, western romance, kindle freebie.
Let me know if you find me. Your assist much appreciated. I can't understand how overnight sales just stopped, not slowed, stoppped
Howard,I'm sure they would be...haven't run into that neat since moving to the "country" but then again, I'm more in the city and it's still relatively new compared to where you live. :)

I try to do that when I can as a way of paying things forward for the help I've received along the way. We all struggle to find out what works and what doesn't. You'll get there. :)

All right then, I'll throw in a plug for the latest issue of Dark Eclipse, available now at Amazon, for your e-readers. Short stories, reviews and columns, bent to all things horror. Fans might like to check it out.
Simon (Highwayman), The link goes for Amazon U.K. and here is the one for the U.S. and the current stats:

Lynn, I'm lucky in that reguard.Surrounded by a university owned 'experimental forest," my land is snuggly placed in the middle of nowhere, but only a fews miles from town.
The area had been farmed in another time frame, but not in the last 50 years or so & it's well forrested now & very thick in places, etc.
The hearth is not on my land just near it, but now that I know people were there I'll investagate the immediate area further & at my leasure as no one else is around.
What great energy I felt looking it over, it was something Lynn.
Spring is sprung, oh boy.

There is a dif between "OH" and zero. I made this mistake on an international scale. Almost 400 downloads in spite of that and one more day.
I already got in trouble on here with that line. There was a guy on LinkedIN authors pages that I could not believe when he disparaged my publishing. I'm afraid I got a little snotty. I tried to snip it here but it wouldn't work.

Howard, Oh that sounds so wonderful. I'm sure it could be very inspirational. Spring has Sprung indeed.

Virginia, I don't follow your last post. Was it directed at me?
You take exception to me quoting Francis Church?
Perhaps I'm in error.
Please advise.
Santa remark? Posted cartoon. Took it down. The voice of wisdom prevailed.bTW. If this is where I talked about it, Amazon says sales are recorded despite it saying draft status. It stills says draft. Almost 600 downloads so far.
Virginia, wonderful news I guess, but must confess that I didn't understand a word of it, deficient there I'm afraid. However, I'm pleased if you're pleased by your current time line.
Good reality always helps.
