Daniel Whyte will socki become a vampire at the end of the book series

Nikki I think the author said in an interview once, that Sookie will never become a vampire.

Jennifer Nikki wrote: "I think the author said in an interview once, that Sookie will never become a vampire."

I read the same thing which is sad because I want Sookie & Eric together forever

Magda Socki might, Sookie will never become one.

Mary You read the books though and regardless of what the author is saying, the way she is writing the story you feel like it's fairly inevitable that Sookie is going to become a vampire or find a way to 'live forever' so that Eric and her can be together. At least that's the only thing I can see her writing without compeltely pissing off all her readers.

Magda With her last book, I think she's aiming at dissolving Eric/Sookie's relationship.
Will it piss off loyal readers who have rooted for Eric/Sookie from the get go? Yes.
Will it prevent me from reading the rest of the series? No.
Maybe she's counting on our loyalty to see her through until the end.
Trust me, if I could make it through book 10 & continue reading, nothing will stop me now.

Maggie Douglas I agree with Mary to an extent. It certainly seems like somethings going to happen, though Sookies been rather against becoming vampire. Also Sookie has changed since the first books. Attitude is changing and has anyone else wondered about the physical changes? I vaguely remember a couple references about her feeling odd, lightheaded or dizzy, etc I'm wondering where thats going to lead...

Mary Agreed loyal readers will continue to read, but will that be enough to really continue supporting the series?
I mean I know I'll continue, but that's not saying much because I have an obsession with finishing a series once I've started it regardless of whether I hate the new books or not.
Plus I kind of feel like she's starting to grasp at straws for story line. There's beginning to be less and less substantial story that really feeds a reader and more and more fluff/supernatural paraphenalia.

Mary Maggie - Agreed. I do remember the physical references in the last couple books. That's a bit curious.

Magda I agree with you, Mary. I think book 10 & 11 were mostly fillers.
IMO, the series has become very popular, I don't think it was intended to be as long as it has become.

Farrah I don't know that Sookie wants to become a vampire. And how will that work with her fairy blood? Will she intoxicate herself? And I doubt that if she became one, her and Eric would be together too long because wasn't it said in one of the books that vampire relationships don't last that long?

Tamara Perhaps she won't have to become a vampire; her full-blood fairy family live for centuries. I know this doesn't extend to half-fairies. Maybe she will become half-vampire, with the benefit of an extended life? I can't speculate more without revealing too much. I haven't read #11 yet. I'm curious to know how everyone feels about Quinn?

Mary Magda - Completely agreed. I think it was supposed to end quite a few books ago and since the series was so popular she tried to string it along or else or publisher pushed her to.

Mary Farrah wrote: "I don't know that Sookie wants to become a vampire. And how will that work with her fairy blood? Will she intoxicate herself? And I doubt that if she became one, her and Eric would be together too ..."

Farrah - I love your, "Will she intoxicate herself?" question! Hilarious! :)
And yes it did say that vampire relationships don't last forever even if they do last for around 50 years. (Not long for vampires)

Mary Okiecavies - Ok Where exactly are you story line wise? I don't want to give anything away with Quinn if you haven't gotten there yet. :)

Library Lady 📚 I could have done without the whole Quinn plotline, but that's just me. It seemed that the author could have worked something out with her and Alcide (one book he's nice, the next he's a total jerk?) and combined his character with Quinn's. A lot of the plotlines were so similiar I have trouble remembering one book from another after book 5. However, I've read them all, and despite any faults, I will keep reading as long as she keeps publishing them. I'm too hooked to quit now!

But I don't see Sookie becoming a vampire, unless it's some kind of Twilight situation where she's on her death bed and has to either change or die.

Stephanie Otis i dont think she will but i do think her life will be extended or permanently altered in some way. finitan (half-fairy) lived for centuries, though with out the companionship of others of his kind hes beginning to show signs of aging. BUT if her fairy blood is made much stronger will Eric be able to resist killing her? i love Eric and i want him and Sookie to stay together!

Farrah I agree I thought the Quinn plot line was reaching a bit. I had a hard time reading about their relationship. They didn't really belong together. Eric is the best because he is written so well. Clearly Charlaine Harris isn't the world's best writer but I think she needs to be recognized for the great character Eric N. is and how she is so consistent throughout the entire series with his behavior. The books have all blurred together for me too but I agree Lena...I will keep reading too...I have come this far and they are strangely addicting.

Agreed.

Kasi Alexander I agree that Eric is a really well-written character. I agree with Lena that Alcide was a very compelling character. I haven't read much about Quinn but so far he hasn't done much for me. The series is definitely addicting, though! I like the light touch rather than the constant suspense that so many paranormal series seem to have.

Tamara Mary-sorry for taking so long. I've read 10, and I'm desperately trying to get my hands on 11!
SPOILERS????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really don't understand why Harris gave Sookie such reservations about Quinn. Sookie has the same problem ["unavailability" & "being second"], if not more-so, with Eric. Up till then, it seemed like Sookie was fairly self-aware. I just couldn't get past the lame-osity of how Harris handled the Quinn situation.

Also, I really like Alcide! [I'm a wolf fan, rabidly!] But I can't help but think that being party to the 'rules of the pack' will bother her almost as much as becoming a vampire.

Daniel Whyte if socki became a vampire
would she be able to read vampire minds
and if she could read vamp minds would the vamps let her live

Magda Daniel, that's excellent! I think that would provide lots & lots of content for new books, especially since Sookie already receives small "blips" of info from vamps.

Serena Hi,
I recently went to her book signing and this question was brought up. Charlaine said that Sookie would not become a vampire. She loves tanning too much.
I haven't read book 11 yet, but I am wondering if somewhere down the road she marries/dates a regular guy, or a shape shifter (someone closer to her own lifespan) that way the vampire issue will become obsolete.

Andre and Sophie YES! SHE HAS TO!
Wait Serena!
SOOKIE WON'T GO VAMP? SHE HAS TO! ERIC AND SOOKIE HAVE TO BE TOGETHER 4EVER! NO SHE CAN'T DATE A REGULAR GUY! SHE HAS GOT TO BECOME A VAMPIRE!

SHE CAN'T NOT!
I NEED A MINUTE!

Serena Sorry Sophie,
Charlaine Harris said it wasn't going to happen. She might stick with Eric in she books, but she will indeed grow old, who is to say how that will work, given her fairy blood.

Andre and Sophie NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope that the fairy blood will keep her immortal. But Sookie said that Jason had crows feet. OR maybe she all the blood she and Eric exchanged will keep her young and living forever. With Eric.

Also, who is 'socki'?

message 28: by Abby (new) - rated it 4 stars

Abby Helstrip no i think sookie will die in the last book, just got a feeling because nothng much is happeneing anymore. i dont really see an ending where she lives happly ever after with a guy so something extreme has got to happen, that will leave us breathless hopefully

Andre and Sophie yeah, i don't see sookie having a happily ever after either, but i don't think she will die.

i think the story may have gone on too long, there is nothing else for them to do.

Nikki Charlaine Harris said in an interview that Sookie would live a normal lifespan. Its in the FAQ for the Community Board on her website.

Library Lady 📚 A lot of people have said it would be weird if she was with Sam, but I'm wondering if that's who she'll end up with, since he could live a normal life and give her children, which she has said she wanted. I dont see her back with Alcide, or Quinn, and I thought the way the situation with those two was handled left something to be desired. This late in the series, I doubt CH would bring in a NEW love interest.

Andre and Sophie Yeah, but in "Dead in the Family" she started to consider it. Remember? She was all "I would never grow old," etc.

Library Lady 📚 Yeah, and she's had so much of Eric's blood it makes you wonder...if she died now, would she change automatically b/c of that?

Andre and Sophie OMG! I never thought of that! YES!

message 35: by Ashley (new) - added it

Ashley I hope that she sticks with Eric! I love his character and think that he really loves her. I hope that I am reading too much into book 11 in thinking that we are being prepared for a let down. I'm all for Sookie becoming a vampire! I know that Charlaine has said it will never happen but... never say never!

Farrah Serena wrote: "Hi,

I haven't read book 11 yet, but I am w..."

It's funny you wrote this becuase in anticipation for Season 3 coming out on DVD in a few weeks, I am watching Season 2 again and I just saw the episode where Sookie has the dream about being with Eric after he tricks her into drinking his blood to have the bond and he is telling her that she has the perfect temperment for a vampire and she say's she could never because she wouldn't be able to get a tan lol

Farrah Lena wrote: "A lot of people have said it would be weird if she was with Sam, but I'm wondering if that's who she'll end up with, since he could live a normal life and give her children, which she has said she ..."

I don't know...something about her and Sam just irks me...it has since the first book. I agree that it is probably too late for her to find a "new love" and I too think Eric is the best one for her. She is his heart's desire according to the spell. Although maybe CH should focus on more of the other story lines instead of Sookie's love interests. Like clearly there is going to be a war of some sort it seems. Does anyone know when Book 12 is coming out?

message 38: by Maja (new) - rated it 4 stars

Maja I kind of always wanted Sam and Sookie together. I don't really know why, but it just seems that after all the pain and suffering with the vamps, they will find their way to each other.

Nadia I've always thought Sam and her were inevitable, in a good way. Not only do they have chemistry but they're also healthy for each other. They're both going through a destructive phase for the last billion books. :)

Nadia P.S. Anyone else wonder if she'll do a brief stop-over with Dermot before she ends up with "the One?" Kind of ooky since they're related, but in this last one it seemed like the seeds were being planted for it. Sam's hint about how the fae don't feel the same way about family that people do. Besides, wouldn't be the first time she had a relationship with the walking wounded, you know?

Library Lady 📚 Yes, and Sam's always loved her, and in several books she mentions how sam stars in her fantasies. makes you wonder...plus, he can give her children, they are both mortal but supernatural...seems like a good place to end up.

Serena @ Nadia,
I cant picture CH having Sookie shack up with her great uncle. I think she was explaining some of the weird stuff like them sleeping in the same bed, and Claude walking around the house naked.

Farrah I wondered about that too with Dermot because he is very touchy feely with her. I know that is how fairys are but...with CH, you never know.

message 44: by Pam (new) - rated it 4 stars

Pam Williams Just finished Dead Reckoning and loved it like I do all the Sookie books. I know they're not great literature but I give them a 5 out of 5 on my scale because I can't put them down. Who knows who Sookie will end up with but it is lots of fun being in suspense!

Shannon C. I read that Charlaine said her HEA guy would be someone new. I'm trying to remember which forum I was in when I heard that. I think it linked to an interview w/her. Then people were commenting that if it's going to be someone new, we need to meet him ASAP--don't wait to wait until the last book and have it seem rushed.

message 46: by Pam (new) - rated it 4 stars

Pam Williams BamaGal (Naysa) wrote: "My money is on Sam or Remy. (hopefully Remy)."

Who is Remy?

Nadia I don't think Remy's even a possibility.

First, Remy is her cousin's ex. No way she'd go for Hadley's seconds.

Second (and most important IMO), he's already got a telepathic child. And while he likes Sookie, he's kinda freaked by telepathy in general No way he's sign up for more voluntarily.

Third, he's pretty much shown his "type." Normal.

Library Lady 📚 Okay, I have to ask something about the whole Cousin Hadley thing. When I read what had happened to her, it seemed like I'd missed a book. I went back and checked, and I couldnt find that I had. But the book after the queen killed her, they talked about it as if it had been a scene in a book. Did i miss a book where this scene happened? I remember being very confused about all the stuff that seemed like backstory on these events, which I couldnt find in any of the books. Did I miss a book about Hadley and The Queen?

Library Lady 📚 Thanks so much! I didn't like that Sookie book b/c the whole time i was reading, i kept thinking i'd missed something! it irritated me so bad! i must have checked five times to see if i'd missed a book. I knew there as a sookie short story collection, so i thought it might be the case. thanks for clarifying!

A moment of cheese: i'm so glad i found this awesome community of fellow readers! everyone is so knowledgeable and i've had the best discussions!

Okay, I'll put the cheese away.

Nadia @Lena - I felt the same way until I read a lot of the short stories, which I didn't get to read until "Touch of Dead." Bah!
