Farrah The short stories were wonderful. I read them before I started the actual series. The ss hold key pieces of info to tie into the other books.

Lena

I totally get your cheese. lol it is fun to talk about these books.

Has anyone else heard that Charlaine Harris is stopping this series at book 13??.
Also I really think Sookie and Eric are great together however I think that making Sookie Vampire would be to Cliche (but wouldn't be opposed to the idea). If the relation does dissolve i always Sam would make a good candidate as he's almost like the "one that never was" but he is so sweet and so protective I wouldn't be put off by a bit of sam/sookie love.

Maja I was always a big fan of Sookie and Sam... and have been hoping those 2 end up together in the end...

Me too Maja, :D he's sweet! x

Maja He is the best choice for her. First of all he is human, so he can give her children and the family she always wanted, plus they seem to like, even love each other and respect each other and are attracted to each other.
Plus, he is sweet! :) Better option than any vampire... And I love vampires, trust me, but in this case, Sam is the best choice.

Lauren McKeever I heard the book she comes out with next year will be the last of the series. I always wanted Sookie to become a Vampire, but if her and Eric do dissolve then I wouldnt mind seeing her and Quinn or Alcide get together in the end :)

Cherie Phillips I think I read somewhere that Charlaine Harris stated that Sookie couldn't become a vampire because she is part fae

AlbertaJenn Cherie wrote: "I think I read somewhere that Charlaine Harris stated that Sookie couldn't become a vampire because she is part fae"

Hmmmmm..... that makes more sense than the fact that she just loves to tan!

Michael Moore no she is a fairy

LaTaeya Lane Charline Harris said in an interview that she will never make Sookie a vampire. At this point I do not think it will work because Sookie is a part Fairy and the official change will not take. The vamps will not be able to drain her with out killing her. She has trouble enough with being part of their world and her own world. She does not want to live the vampire life style. Even thought it is hard for her to escape them, she still desires a normal life.

Adria I just read "A Touch of Dead" short stories, and I thought they were great and added a little more explanation to certain parts of novels. My favorites were "One Word Answer" and "Gift Wrap."

On the oringinal question, CH has clearly stated that Sookie will never become a vampire, because the thought doesn't appeal to her. So, I think Sookie will have to end up with some type of supe. I don't think it will be a vamp though. There is no future dating a vamp unless she becomes one because she will eventually die and her lover never will. So its possible maybe a shifter, were, or fairy? But we also know that it is impossible for her to end up with a human because she can't stand it with the mind reading, hence the reason she never had a real relationship until she was 26 years old.

Claire I think if Eric got his way Sookie would already be a vampire. Question: if Sookie was turned would she still have her powers.
I know she has told Eric more then once in the books that if she dies she didn't won't to be turned but I think Eric or Bill would do it anyway.

Stephanie Nikki wrote: "I think the author said in an interview once, that Sookie will never become a vampire."

I believe that is true. I recall reading the same article and being disappointed...

LaTaeya Lane Charline Harris said that she will never make Sookie a Vampire. Sookie is already way too special in her own right and now after seeing Bella being turned in Breaking Dawn, I understand and fully agree with Charline. Sookie does not need to be a Vampire to be come special, but I feel that in so many ways Bella needs it. There is not really much to Bella as I learn more about her in the Twilight series.

I totally agree, I also think if Eric or Bill turned Sookie she would would end up losing some if not most of her powers.

Stephanie Lataeya wrote: "Charline Harris said that she will never make Sookie a Vampire. Sookie is already way too special in her own right and now after seeing Bella being turned in Breaking Dawn, I understand and fully ..."

That's a great point. I never really thought of it like that... :)

S.N. McKibben One thing I'd like to point out is that Sookie still has a fairy wish. I forgot what the trinket is called but I'm willing to bet that it will have something to do with who Sookie winds up with.

Kirby I was just looking over CH's FAQs on her site and- in addition to coming across a wee bit snarky in my opinion- she closed the door both on sookie becoming a vampire and a vampire lover becoming human...so I don't guess the cluviel dor (pretty sure that's what it is) will be turning bill back into a human, which I had sorta liked the idea of....in fact, I had really liked the idea of sookie becoming a super powerful vampire. so now, I don't really know what I hope to happen...

Emily I dont think a fairy could become a vampire even someone with fairy blood in them i think it would counteract the vampire blood and cancel it out.. but i could be wrong though i really dont think Sookie will ever be a vampire

Amber Ivers Serena wrote: "Sorry Sophie,
Charlaine Harris said it wasn't going to happen. She might stick with Eric in she books, but she will indeed grow old, who is to say how that will work, given her fairy blood."

I read this too. That doesn't mean that her and Eric won't stay together because, if I read it right, Sookie doesn't have a child of her own either. There is no telling how it is going to end with the suitor department. Sookie and Eric may be on the outs right now, but that doesn't mean that they will be forever. But she will grow old.

A half elf was already introduced in one of the short stories. I haven't read anything about Dermot and Sookie being together, but I agree, eww. A full elf was introduced in DR.

Amber Ivers Nadia wrote: "I don't think Remy's even a possibility.

I agree. The Remy thing is kind of out there. The other "normal" guys are already spoken for, so he would be the only one left. Which is why I speculate one of the supes. Plus, Sookie enjoys not hearing them completely.

Ms Harris, I think, has said that she will end up with someone that she has met. That could be anything, I guess, but it narrows it down.

Amber Ivers Pam wrote: "BamaGal (Naysa) wrote: "My money is on Sam or Remy. (hopefully Remy)."

Who is Remy?"

Remy is Hadley's ex husband. Hunter is Hadley and Remy's son and he is telepathic. So Sookie has a second cousin from Hadley.

Amber Ivers Pam wrote: "Just finished Dead Reckoning and loved it like I do all the Sookie books. I know they're not great literature but I give them a 5 out of 5 on my scale because I can't put them down...."

I love the suspense too. Even though she has not ever been seriously dating the suitor I like, the stories have been fun and excited, even sad to read. I still enjoy reading when she is happy with whoever she is with at the time and sad when she is sad. This makes it good literature to me, too.

Amber Ivers Abby wrote: "no i think sookie will die in the last book, just got a feeling because nothng much is happeneing anymore. i dont really see an ending where she lives happly ever after with a guy so something extr..."

Ms. Harris has said that she grows old.

Jadewik Based on Sookie's love of sunbathing, which she does at least once in just about every book in the series, and her desire to have children (which is starting to blossom as of book 10- Dead in the Family w/Hunter and Tara stuff) I can't see Sookie ever wanting to become a vampire. One of the great things about this series is that it's not 100% her decision because, as we all have read, she's had quite a bit of both Bill's blood and Eric's blood-- in fact, wasn't it mentioned in the novel with the big explosion that Eric could "turn her at any moment"? I think getting Eric to let her go is going to be a major plot point, later because Sookie and Eric differ in nature too much. (Though, they are quite a hot item!)

Quinn was a necessary step in Sookie's relationship progression. When she hooks up with Quinn, she's still angry with Bill and Eric and Alcide is looking for affection elsewhere. It's almost like she needed Quinn to realize how much she really does love Bill and Eric... and, maybe, to get those two to realize how much they love her. (Note: I haven't read Dead Reckoning #11 quite yet...) Once Quinn was absolved, and I'm so glad he was, Sookie was in a good place to start kindling another flame.

As much as I resent saying it, I can't see her ending up with Bill, Eric, Quinn or Alcide. Quinn has too much baggage. Sookie has NEVER liked Were politics-- especially that bit about sharing. Bill seems to have too much history and too much sorrow hanging on his shoulders for the care-free Sookie. Eric, dreamy as he is, is too shrewd for the naive and sunny Sookie. An eternity with Eric would take Sookie from all the things she loves (Eg- sunlight, sunbathing, friends, etc.), all the things she wants to do (Eg-have kids) and she'd fall right back in that Vampire political loop she hates. Forever-- or until she's staked. Sam is the only logical choice-- as much as I loathe that non-faery tale ending option... but the difficulty of that choice is what keeps the books moving along.

Too bad Eric can't be human again... but I don't think he'd give up his life. *sigh *

Komal The blood bond between Sookie and Eric has been mentioned but I've wondered for a long time. Sookie and Bill shared blood so why didn't they have a bond similar to Sookie and Eric's?

Amber Ivers Eric and Sookie shared more blood and he is an older stronger vampire. That is my assumption. I haven't really ever gotten a confirmation on that one. The closest one that I got was Eric and her shared more.

Amber Ivers Maja wrote: "I was always a big fan of Sookie and Sam... and have been hoping those 2 end up together in the end..."

me too, I am waiting patiently for it. If it don't happen, oh well. It was fun hoping!

Emily Yeah i agree with you both, Sam is an amazing guy and an even better friend, ive lost count on how many times he went out of his way for Sookie even putting his life on the line, and what girl wouldnt want to fall in love with her best friend, All i know is at the end of the day if i was Sookie, Sam would be the guy I would choose to settle down and have a life with, Plus he can turn into any animal in the world! thats like the coolest thing ever (wish i was a shapeshifter)

Emily Ohh yeah I was just thinking too, the idea of living forever sounds awful to me seriously!! I mean Sookie is only like 27 and shes had an extremely hard life all i know is i would never want to live a life with all her hardships with no end in site, I think Sookie is a smart enough woman to realize eternal life isnt all its cracked up to be and who wants to be with a man that never ages! (well maybe im not wording it right but it would look so silly to see a lil 80 year old sookie with a young hot Eric or Bill, i dont know but Sam is looking better and better by the second

Amber Ivers I'm confused. Where does it say that Sookie can't become a vampire because she is fairy. I didn't think that she had enough fairy in her to not. I thought that it was the sunbathing and Sookie's preference to the author, not that she was fairy. Does anyone know where I can read that interview?

Emily I remeber seeing Charlene Harris state it in an invitew on youtube somehwere and then also on a website.... i cant remeber the link now, but i will start searching for it and post it here when i do :D

Jadewik Komal wrote: "The blood bond between Sookie and Eric has been mentioned but I've wondered for a long time. Sookie and Bill shared blood so why didn't they have a bond similar to Sookie and Eric's?"

Eric and Sookie shared blood 3 times (in somewhat quick succession, which is important to note) as of All Together Dead (Book 7). Bill and Sookie only shared blood 2 times at that point. There's something "magical" about the 3rd sharing, apparently. You learn a little more about blood bonds in Dead Reckoning (Book 11), though there have been a lot of hints dropped here and there from book 7 and after.

Amber Ivers Sookie having fairy blood can't have anything to do with Sookie not turning. Because Hadley did too, yet she was a vampire.

I still haven't found it. I tried looking on youtube also. I think that her having fairy in her makes her enjoy the sun too much, so maybe that is what she meant, if she said it.

Jeanine Charlaine Harris has stated unequivocably that Sookie will never become a vampire. Nor will she end up with Remy. He's only a collateral character. The fairies are related to Sookie so that's out as well.

Remy was her cousin, Hadley's, ex-husband. He is the father of her nephew (who is also telepathic).

Amber Ivers Patt wrote: "Maggie wrote: "I agree with Mary to an extent. It certainly seems like somethings going to happen, though Sookies been rather against becoming vampire. Also Sookie has changed since the first books..."

no, unfortunately Ms Harris has said that Sookie will not have her own child.

Cloey.k I don't think Sookie will ever become a vampire at least I hope not :)

I am looking forward to the next book when is it coming out? I read Dead Reckoning.

P J Zwack I don't want Sookie to become a Vampire. Thats not her.

Yes, plus she will not have kids.

Kirby Amber wrote: "Jeanine wrote: "The author has stated that Sookie will NOT become a vampire...."

do you know if CH made a distinction such as, sookie won't "bear" children? I've thought that something might happen to remy and sookie will get custody of hunter. I don't know- she's mentioned wanting children so many times that I'm gonna be upset if she doesn't get one in any way...

message 99: by Mary (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mary While Claude and Dermot were living in her house, it was said that by being together they all got more fairy-like. I think it is possible that Sookie's fairy powers will grow and her life will be extended with her increasing fairy powers.
