Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments Dhestiny had a really fun game idea, so I thought we'd try it out here.

Here's what you do:

Take the book you're reading currently and post the first three lines in the beginning of the book and when you finish it, come back and post the last three lines of the book.

For instance :

The first three from LK's Because You're Mine

"I can't marry him. I just can't." Madeline's stomach churned with revulsion as she watched Lord Cliftoin stroll the outside grounds with her father. "

the last three:

"She gestured for him to lean down to her and kissed him on the cheek. "Your mother would have liked that, dear boy. She would have liked it very much."

Join in if you're so inclined!!!

Desperado (lethallovely) Sounds fun!

Book I'm Reading: Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis

First Three Lines: Daddy said, "Let Mom go first." Mom wanted me to go first. I think it was because she was afraid that after they were contained & frozen, I'd walk away, return to life rather than consign myself to that cold, clear box.

Auntee | 152 comments Okay, cover your eyes sensitive readers...

The book I'm reading: Hush Hush (Lodestone Trilogy, #1) by Cherry Adair

First three four lines: Three things happened simultaneously: the soft, warm curve of a woman's bare ass tucked enticingly against Zakary Stark's good-morning-happy-to-feel-you erection, the familiar gut-wrenching realization that she was the wrong woman, and the cold hard metal of a gun barrel pressed to his temple.

The tantalizing fragrance of fresh, jasmine-scented female, coupled with the erotic base note of last night's sex, was obliterated by the sour stench of stale male sweat.

Fuckit. Hell of a way to start the day.

Last Three-ish lines: "Never doubt that you'll always be my hero, Zak. My light. My love. My lodestone."

He opened the door to the linen closet and, with Acadia's laughter filling his world, shut the door.

message 6: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 4782 comments I'm reading two. Here is the first one:

The Unsung Hero, by Suzanne Brockmann
When both the Seahawk and its pilot took a direct hit, things went from bad to worse.

U.S. Navey S.E.A.L. Lieutenant Tom Paoletti took over the controls and lurched the helicopter skyward as Jazz and Lopez worked to keep the pilot from bleeding to death.

The elite, eight-member SO squad had come into this latrine of a country to see to the safe departure of a diplomat's wife.
The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters, #1) by Suzanne Brockmann

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 4782 comments The second one I'm reading:

Surrender, by Pamela Clare
If Lord William Wentworth needed proof that he had come to the outermost edge of civilization, he need only lookout his window. In the dusty street below, a man who looked as if he'd never bathed rutted with an even filthier whore, pounding into her from behind with the mindfulness of an animal. A dog relieved itself in the dirt a few feet away.

Surrender (MacKinnon’s Rangers, #1) by Pamela Clare

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 4782 comments Now I just need to remember to come back here and post when I'm done! LOL!

Desperado (lethallovely) Thanks Bekah & Lisa Kay! I'm kind of over paranormal YA novels right now & I'm shocked at how good ATU is! Who knew all this intrigue & deviousness could happen on a spaceship!

Hehehe. I already know the last few lines of my book. I have this horrible habit of reading the last few pages of my books before starting them. It's the romance lover in me hoping for an HEA, I guess.

Me too LethalLovely! I just can't help myself!

message 11: by Shelly (new)

Shelly (shellye77) I'm currently reading Dangerous in Diamonds:

The death of a duke is a cause for many people to mourn, but none so much as those dependent on his patronage. So it was that the passing of the fourth Duke of Becksbridge left many a relative and retainer in tears.

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (httpsrakesandrascalswordpresscom) | 2140 comments I'm reading Wedding of the Season by Laura Lee Guhrke

(This is taken from Chapter 1. There is a Prologue but it doesn't lend itself to a three line quote.)

He'd forgotten how beautiful a fine summer day in England could be.
William Mallory, Duke of Sunderland, removed his hat and tilted his head back for an appreciative glance at the dazzling blue sky overhead before turning his attention to the cart piled with his luggage.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 4782 comments Okay, I found this thread again. Finished Surrender (MacKinnon’s Rangers, #1) by Pamela Clare and I give it ★★★★★ and a Wow! Here are the last four sentences, and they are a bit of a spoiler, but not a cliffhanger:(view spoiler)

I also selected Iain MacKinnon, the hero, to fill the “Protector Hero” slot in my Nothing But Reading Challenges - My Hero Challenge. A hard decision to come by, but man-oh-man, does he fulfill the role - for a mortal male. He is fierce and tender and loving. All that and long, long black hair (down to his waist) and the bluest eyes. **sigh**

Lisa Kay, has your mind always been like a sewer or was it once pure and clean like mine? !!!!LOL

Last few lines of Wedding of the Season :

She laughed, tilting her head back, relishing the feel of the wind on her face. "Will, my darling, with you, every day of our lives is an adventure." Sighs!

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments i really like seeing the endings..they're so nice to read. If I were to write a book, that is where I would put a lot of my heart in. Those last words you read right before you close the book....for the ultimate sigh!

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (httpsrakesandrascalswordpresscom) | 2140 comments I've just read Goodnight Tweetheart by Teresa Medeiros.

First three lines:

In her darker moments Abby Donnovan had often fantasized that her career choice might lead her to become ultimately acquainted with the phrase "Would you like fries with that?"

Last three lines or so:

The smile that said, "I will always be your friend. I will always love you no matter what you've done and no matter what you'll ever do."
It was that smile that lit up his eyes as he reached for her hand and said, "Hello, Tweetheart."

Reaches for Kleenex!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Doms of Dark Haven 2 Western Nights by Sierra Cartwright from Cherise Sinclair's story -

First 3 lines -

Well, if he turned out to be a pervert, Dark Haven was sure the right place to come. Virgil Masterson tucked his thumbs under his belt and stared around the huge room. It was Western Night at San Francisco's notorious BDSM club, and the combination of fetish ware and cowboy clothing was mindboggling.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 4782 comments The Unsung Hero (Bk 1 Troubleshooters) by Suzanne Brockmann
Last three lines:
Kelly pushed him off her, wrestling him over and pinning him down onto his back. "If you're not careful," she warned, "I'm going to have to prove you wrong by doing that thing, you know, with my mouth?..."

Tom just smiled.
Any comments, Carol? :)

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (httpsrakesandrascalswordpresscom) | 2140 comments It Happened One Autumn (Wallflowers, #2) by Lisa Kleypas

First few lines:

Two young women stood on the threshold of the perfumery, one tugging impatiently at the arm of the other. "Do we have to go in?" the smaller one was saying in a flat American accent, resisting as the other pulled her forcibly into the quietly lit shop. "I'm always bored to tears in these places, Lillian- you stand and smell things for hours-"

Last few lines (excluding epilogue):

"I realized today that I could never live without you, stubborn little hellion that you are. In this life or the next, you're my only hope of happiness. Tell me, Lillian, dearest love...how can you have reached so far inside my heart?" He paused to kiss her damp silken skin...and smiled as a wisp of a feminine snore broke the peaceful silence.
