What other books do you think I might enjoy based on the fact that I absolutely LOVED this series?

I loved Eragon too, so here are a few of my favorites:
1) Harry Potter
2) The Mortal Instruments
3) Artemis Fowl (<-- these are kind of hard to get into, but they're not half bad)
4) The Seven Kingdoms Trilogy
5) The Hunger Games
6) The Maze Runner
7) The Heir Chronicals
8) Fable Haven (<-- these are a little over-mythical, but the story's pretty good)
9) Maximum Ride
10)Percy Jackson And The Olympians

These are nothing like Eragon, or any of the Inheritance Cycle, but I really enjoyed all of these. Hope this helped ya:)
I've got more if you want, but I figured I'd just stop at ten...

The Pit Dragon trilogy (beginning with Dragon's Blood) by Jane Yolen. It actually has a lot in common with Eragon, like perhaps Paolini had read the Pit Dragon Trilogy.

You might like His Majesty's Dragon .

percy jackson or the kane kronicles or the heros of olympus (there all by Rick Riordane)

Naomi Novik's Temeraire Series immediately comes to mind, imagine Eragon, only taking place in the Napoleonic Wars. I think the series is up to about 5 or 6 books at the moment. Worth checking out if you need a dragon fix.

How about the King Killer Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss, they are said to have changed fiction entirly and are my favourite books... you should try them... they make you think and when your done, get on the Ruthfussian discussions and help us uncover what is to lie ahead of us... believe me, there is no going back from this one...

R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt series. I started with the Hunters Blades Trilogy, which is the 14th book in the overall series. Freaking amazing, and it's way more in depth on the mythology side.

Tamora Pierce is one of my all time favorites. Most everything she writes is Awesome! Start with Alanna. You will love it.

I agree with the mentions of Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, & Artemis Fowl, but I would also suggest any of the Pern novels by Anne McCaffrey (like Dragonflight).

I loved the Dragonlance series in high school. It's amazing. And the Joust books by Mercedes Lackey is really good too.

The Three Powers Trilogy remind me so much of the Inheritance Cycle. The adventure and the action in both series is so similar.

You might want to read some of the books that Paolini borrowed ideas from. For example: The Earthsea series (ALL BOOKS, not just the first three! Le Guin shifts the perspective around at book four. While she never has any truly evil characters in her books it needs to be mentioned that these books evolved in their own right.)
The Dragonriders of Pern are also nice but keep in mind that these are rather old Science Fiction books with lots of harmful themes like 'slapping a girl back to her senses' which is super awful. If you read those, keep more of your attention on the dragons.
While Paolini also borrowed heavily of Eddings (he even 'borrowed' an entire scene) I can't really recommend his books because they read like Diana Wynne Jones' Tough Guide to Fantasyland but contrary to her charming book Edding's works are no parody on the genre.
Lord of the Rings is pretty much a given, especially when you look at the names of some places in Eragon. You might want to start with the Hobbit first because it helps getting used to Tolkien's language (I wouldn't start with the Simarillion since it's technically not a novel.)

I highly recommend The Pit Dragon Chronicles by Jane Yolen.

A Song of Ice and Fire. The writing is sometimes explicit but if you can ignore that then it's a great series. Also Percy Jackson is good, Codex Alera is awesome, you could also try Artemis Fowl & Fablehaven.

If you love dragons, read dragonology, the compleat dragonology, the dragonologists hand book,and...I think that's all I can think of right now.

The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale is really good, and so are the rest of the Books of Bayern.

A lot of people would disagree with me, but if you liked the magic parts (such as the Ancient Language, dragons, etc.) in Eragon, try J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter books.

Dragonsong, Dragonsinger and Dragondrums are a great triology by Anne McKaffery, the First Lady of Dragons. Along more adult lines, her Dragonriders of Pern series (particularly the first three starting with Dragonflight) are excellent.

The dragon riders of Pern by Anne mcaffrey are about a similar subject so those might interest you.

IMHO I couldn't stamp the alchemist. It was really not like Eragon but like a bad version of Percy Jackson.

If you're looking for dragon lit check out The Temeraire Series by Naomi Novik. I normally don't care much for dragons or vamps but those are pretty decent. I read the Eragon series and wasn't super impressed. They were okay; best I can say for them.

The only thing this book has in common with Eragon is the dragons but it's still a good dragon book at least i think it is. But the book i recommend is dragon slippers it's one of my favorite books.

Throne of Glass series
Allana by Tamora Pierce
actually ask if Pierce

The Firelight series is a good series that has less to do with dragons and more to do with draki, the descendants of dragons. However, the book is also a romance. If you love romance and drragons you'll love this book

I found that if you enjoyed the mysterious and violent side of the inheritance cycle to try reading Throne of Glass and the other books still coming out.

I have written a few books you might like to check out. One is called, "Closet" and the other is called "Outcast." Look up Eric John Swanson for "Closet," and just Eric Swanson for "Outcast."

Try the Rangers apprentice series. The first book is Ruins of Gorlan. Eragon reminded me of the series from the start. It’s a long series(12 books) but it’s divided in sections so you don’t have to actually read them all.

Year of the Rogue Dragons: Pretty good if you are ok with 3/5 star writing and some light yif.

As Emily mentioned Artemis Fowl is hard to get to, if anyone wants some ebooks and since I have some, if you want some, you can contact me. And you might want some expierience with calibre. My email is zayedferosh@gmail.com

Has anyone here read the dragons' books by Naomi novik?

Try
Throne of glass
Rangers apprentice
Heroes of Olympus
Loved all of them...by the way there's at least about 5 books in each series

Loved this series and if you like this one try Journey of the Zodiarks: Magic Unleashed, it is awesome...the imagery used throughout the book was really well done and with good character development. It appears to be a potential series which I love. The book is by TK Fretrese...happy hunting :)

How about the Belgariad series by David Eddings and the Earthsea series, these are both terrific series. Lots of fun!

The pendragon series. (no its not about dragons)

NOT THE EONA series. I dont understand why people like that book. ITs boring as heck. Its all about politics.

I recommend;

Artemis Fowl

The Ruins of Gorlan

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

The Supernaturalist

Airman

I'll agree with Kingkiller chronicles. I would also suggest:
The Warded Man
The Knife of Never Letting Go
and
DragonSpell

These are all good books and have the similar adventure feel to it, though they don't have the same exact plotline, they're still really good.

Here are a few of the best other dragon series:
bookyurt dragon recommendations

I particularly recommend Robin McKinley's Dragonhaven (usually in YA) and Mercedes Lackey's Joust series (usually in adult sci fi) for an Eragon fan.

Try Oliver Caine's In Trouble Again I thought it was an awesome read. Not sure if there'll be a sequel but I hope so. Oliver Caine's in Trouble Again by William Kondylis

The Shannara series by Terry Brooks was a lot of fun. The Sword of Shannara (Shannara, #1) by Terry Brooks

The Pit Dragon Chronicles by Jane Yolen.

Dragon's Blood (The Pit Dragon Chronicles, #1) by Jane Yolen
Heart's Blood (The Pit Dragon Chronicles, #2) by Jane Yolen
A Sending of Dragons (The Pit Dragon Chronicles, #3) by Jane Yolen

You should like totally read this book called 'Holes' by Louis Sachar. It's not like about dragons, but I read Eragon, I liked it and I loved Holes!

I so agree with Jackie. SEPTIMUS HEAP series is great!
I've read all of them and really looking forward to reading the next one.

For sure go with the Kingkiller Chronicles. And David Edding's Belgariad. And the Drizzt series by R.A. Salvatore is a must, too.

I honestly haven't read any of these, but this is a quote from Paolini's website: "Some of his favorite books were Bruce Coville's Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher, Frank Herbert's Dune, and Raymond E. Feist's Magician, as well as books by Anne McCaffrey, Jane Yolen, Brian Jacques, E.R. Eddison, David Eddings, and Ursula K. Le Guin."

What about A World Without Heroes?

Any books by Tamora Pierce, I love. Kane chronicles are also very good,as are the Mortal Instruments.

The Darren Shan series, about vampire.
there is no handsome-vampire, love story between vampire and human, or ect. it talks about vampire's assistant journey.

I'm a fan of the Eragon books to but love to read others, I recommed Terry Goodkinds books: Sword of Truth series: first book is Wizards First Rule: or even the Percy Jackson series was good. Not liking the Kane Chronicles as much but once I start a trilogy I finish it.

Try reading Donita K. Paul's Dragon Keeper Chronicles books. The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins were an excellent read as well.
