I've got my ears on Lynne Tillman's No Lease on Life - the iambik audio is really good. Love the story, love the narrator!

message 27252: by tiasreads (new)

tiasreads I'm still working on Fall of Giants. It's really good, but I keep getting bogged down in all the politics, especially the Russian Revolution parts. I'm getting sick of Lenin's hypocrisy.

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Just finished The Secret History by Donna Tartt and really enjoyed it. However, I think like Tana French's The Likeness (Dublin Murder Squad, #2) by Tana French better, which has a similar story.

message 27254: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I just finished reading Becoming and am starting onMy Little Blue Dress

Karen M | 1956 comments Up to four books now with the digital download for Dead to the World. I'm good with three books at once but four always make me feel guilty when I'm not reading, don't know why. Oh, I did finish Greenmantle or it would have been five books.

Rebecca Graf (rebeccagraf) Finished reading Sold on You, Mrs. Garcia's Class Visits the Hospital, and a graphic novel called Why Don't You Just Kill Her that was horrible.

Now starting The Syn-En Solution

Linda | 887 comments Just finished Calico Joe by John Grisham and really loved. I am not necessarily a big fan of baseball, but the story is so engaging you just can't help but breeze through it. I love a book that moves between two eras in history and this one did it seemlessly. 4.5 on the scale for me.

message 27264: by Paula (last edited May 30, 2012 07:11AM) (new)

Paula I finished Janet Evanovich's Two for the Dough. I'm liking this series so far. So far, the books have been quick and I have found them humorous. I'm hoping I still like the series at the end or if I will be turned off by the it's the same old thing like I was with James Patterson.

I started Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James. I have mixed emotions about the series. Although not well written, I still feel some pull to complete the series. Maybe to see what all the hype is, how it ends or just to say been there, read that or finish what you start attitude. I have a love/ hate relationship with both Christian and Anastasia. Maybe I will feel different once I'm doing reading the series.

message 27265: by Michael (new)

Michael (book_nerd1991) I finished The Lantern, it started off good but went downhill after that.

I am about to begin The Poison Tree

message 27266: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine (saanichlori) I'm just about finished The Sisters Brothers and can't wait to be rid of this - I have to know how it ends but I can't say I enjoyed this read. This book has gotten so many 5 star reviews, but I found it disturbing and distasteful and will be glad to delete it from my e-reader.

Although not what I normally read I truly love this series, so much so I have just started again. I miss Ana and especially Christian. It has such an addictive quality and I can't seem to get enough.

I've found with this series that if you read one or two and then don't read the next one for a few weeks or months (or in my case it could be a few years) you don't mind the sameness. I've been reading this series for a long time but I'm only up to Sizzling Sixteen.

tiasreads Lorraine wrote: "I'm currently reading Sacred by Dennis Lehane, and listening to Reflex by Dick Francis."

Enjoy the Dick Francis, Lorraine, he never disappoints.

I finished Fall of Giants last week, then started The Report. The story is based on a true occurrence and is interesting, but the writing is... pretentious. I think she was going for atmospheric and missed the mark. Or maybe it's some avant garde thing I'm just to unsophisticated to understand. It's pretty bad.

Riley Dawson Hushak Just (literally, just, as in 10 minutes ago) finished the Maze Runner trilogy by James Dashner. They were alright--a summer beach/pool read. The series reminded me a lot of the Hunger games in that the prose is very tight and much of the plot focuses on fast action as opposed to character or world building.

Did you like Fall of Giants? I want to read it but I'm not sure if I should commit to buying it or just go to the library. I really enjoyed Pillars of the Earth and World Without End, but I know FoG is not set in that world at all...

Much as I adore the book of Wicked, I found that his others didn't even come close. For me, anyway.

Ashley I'm currently reading Someone Like Summer. I'm thinking this is going to be a pretty short read, which isn't really a bad thing.

message 27295: by Evangeline (new)

Evangeline Ravencraft (evangelineravencraft) | 1 comments I have a few different things I am reading right now, Avalon is one of them, as well as Philippa Gregory's The Lady of the Rivers. I am trying to not get too involved in them right this second as I in the midst of exams so when I feel the need to read and don't have time for much I go for something historical and right now am reading The House of Tudor. I really like this book and its actually written well without being drawn out and seeming too scholarly.
