What are you reading?
I like Tana French, too! Am currently reading The Name of the Wind, and am listening to Post Captain. Both are pretty good so far.
Betsy wrote: "Just finished up The Pact by Jodi Picoult and I am just beginning The Persuader. The Pact was an outstanding story of a possible suicide pact between two teens whose families were the best of frien..."Loved that one. In total agreement with you, definitely one of her better ones!
Rosabelle wrote: "I'm currently reading

I'm reading three at the minute:One of my favourite authors, Peter James; Possession.
Peony in Love.
Executioners

I enjoyed it. It was a quick read. The only problem was that SK gave away the ending in the introduction.
I finished reading The Girl Who Played with Fireand I am so glad that for me it was same level as the first book. He wrote so well this books!Something completely different now: How to Talk to a Widower. I am curious to see how I will feel at the end of the reading because it isn't really I wouls choose myself.
Finally almost finished with Kraken and just getting started on Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen
Just finished Wrapped in Rain by Charles Martin. Gave it a 5. Charles Martin books are amazing. You know how some stories take their time to engage your mind and eventually capture all of your attention? This one embraces you from the very beginning and just gets better and better and takes your heart captive as well.
I just finished Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption - fabulously well done.
Sandra aka Sleo wrote: "I like Tana French, too! Am currently reading The Name of the Wind, and am listening to Post Captain. Both are pretty good so far."The The Name of the Wind was a terrific book...just finished reading it the other day:) I have to start The Wise Man's Fear before I forget anything...wonder when the third book of the trilogy will be out?
Reading a Jack Reacher novel -Gone Tommorrow_ which takes place in NY where Jack tries to prevent what looks like a terrorist from exploding her device.
Petra wrote: "Allison wrote: "How are the rest in the series, Petra? Is it worth continuing on to the next books? I loved Outlander so much, it sucks that this one is so slow. ..."Definitely. Although this ..."
Thanks so much, Petra! :) That helps a lot, I'll keep plugging away at it. :)
I have just finished How to Talk to a Widower which suprisingly I have enjoyed reading. I will now start with Cry Wolf. I bought it a year and a half a go for one euro and have no idea what to expect.
Violin Dreams which is authored by Arnold Steinhardt, an international solo violinist and first violinist in the Guarneri Quartet and also finishing up War and Peace.
Petra wrote: "Kelly wrote: "I agree w/Petra too. I have read all of them up to "A Breath of Snow and Ashes." I found that "The Fiery Cross" was a bit slow for me, but the rest of the series is fabulous IMO. ..."..."I had the same exact experience. The Fiery Cross was a bit slow and have had a hiatus prior to A Breath of Snow and Ashes which I still haven't read (but own and plan to read).
I finished The Giver by Lois Lowry (a quick read). Now I'm moving on to Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction by David Sheff.
i finished The Late Lamented Molly Marx by Sally Koslow last night. i enjoyed it, even rated it a 4 star. hopefully this will turn around my reading slump. i'm still working on The Zookeeper's Wife for my book group, plus i picked up more last night from the library. here's hoping these ones get me reading!
I've just started The Tiger's Wife by Tea Obreht, which is great so far. I'm excited about this one, having read so many good reviews.I just finished up The Paris Wife by Paula McLain, a fictional account of the marriage of Ernest Hemingway and his first wife, Hadley. They are both such flawed individuals, but the story is really interesting, particularly if you're a Hemingway fan.
I also recently read A Red Herring Without Mustard by Alan Bradley. It's the third in the Flavia De Luce series. I'm not much of one for serialized fiction or for most mysteries, but these books are so charming and engaging.
Erin wrote: "I've just started The Tiger's Wife by Tea Obreht, which is great so far. I'm excited about this one, having read so many good reviews.I just finished up [book:The Paris Wife|86838..."
Erin, The Tiger's Wife sounds really good. :) Let us know what you think when you're finished reading it.
I started Talking to Girls About Duran Duran today, and it's awesome so far. I think I've laughed longer than I've read, if that makes any sense. Really looking forward to some more QT with this one.
Finally finished Kraken *happy dance* I am so glad that one is done and over with.Getting ready to start Incantation
I finished Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction by David Sheff. A sad book about drug addiction. Next I'm going to read one I somehow missed in HS, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.
I finished reading "Traveling with Pomegranates" Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor. Now I'm back to "Brimstone" Preston and Child which I'm very much enjoying.
Patricia wrote: "I finished Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction by David Sheff. A sad book about drug addiction. Next I'm going to read one I somehow missed in HS, [book:Of...Loved "Of Mice and Men"!
I finished Incantation it was really good, even tho it was sad.I've just gotten started on The Meaning of Night: A Confession
Currently reading "Bringing Adam Home" by Les Standiford, "Best Laid Plans" by Lynn Schnurnberger and "Keep a Little Secret" by Dorothy Garlock.
Just finished Florida Roadkill. That was a crazy ride. I can't wait until the next one becomes available from the library. Now onto Duma Key.
Loved Duma Key!! One of SK's better new ones..Currently reading: The Butcher's Boy which isn't too bad so far...good premise but kinda comes across as written by an inexperienced writer...
Also Unnatural Exposure. Hope its better than Cause of death which I had to end up skimming completely crap.
Finished the 4th book of the Dark Tower, Wizard and Glass. Gonna read a couple stand-alone novels before tackling the 5th.
Matt wrote: "Finished the 4th book of the Dark Tower, Wizard and Glass. Gonna read a couple stand-alone novels before tackling the 5th."I felt the same way after reading Wizard and Glass. It was quite a long read.
However, once I started reading Wolves of the Calla, I couldn't put the series down and read straight through to the end. I think the last three were my favorite in the series.
I finished Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck which was great. Now I'm going to move onto Out Stealing Horses by Per Petterson.
I've just finished the last book I read and it was really depressing. So, I'm taking my chance with a different genre this time -- Hopefully it would not murder me with the first ten pages...
Maybe I should have just gone on and finish the Percy Jackson series? I'm putting that off for as long as I can, but it kept calling me back... Hahah...

Am over half way thru Clockwork Angel"
I just started The Oracle of Stamboul and am really liking it, too. It's proving to be a very quick read, probably because of how much I'm liking it!
Finished re-reading The Likeness right before that... I thought I might have missed something the first time through. Still enjoyed it -- I really like Tana French!
