I liked it a lot, but not as horror. This is not the classic zombie story, much as Let The Right One In is not classic vampire. It is a touching story about death and dealing with loss.

Alisha Marie (endlesswonderofreading) | 715 comments I finished Book of Shadows by Alexandra Sokoloff and I thought it was okay. Great premise, but I found the execution a bit lacking. Now I'm going to start The Sinner by Petra Hammesfahr.

message 23903: by Susanna (new)

Susanna (jb_slasher) Yesterday I finished Sinclair's The Jungle . I have to say I was a little disappointed because by halfway I was thinking I'd found a 5-star book but the last 100 pages just didn't work for me. Next I'm going with Shepard's Great Dream of Heaven: Stories .

Edith | 256 comments I'm reading Protect And Defend which is a typical thriller but I'm enjoying it and desperately needed something easy to pull me back to reading after a holiday slump.

Kristin (kgansor) | 310 comments I just finished The Choice I didn't think that I would finish it nearly this fast! I liked it, it wasn't his best book, in my opinion, but it was still good. I think it was dragging on a bit in the end, or that it could've went differently.. i don't know, but still overall a good book.
I'm not sure what im going to read next.

Kristin (kgansor) | 310 comments I decided to start The Pilot's Wife. It's been on my shelf for awhile. It got so many mixed reviews and the other two books I started reading I couldn't get past 10 pages.. I just wasn't into them..
I enjoyed the first couple pages, now I am getting bored at 50 pages in, from the reviews I read on here the last quarter of the book is better so i am going to stick with it.
I have another Anita Shreve book on my shelf Light on Snow. I haven't heard much of anything about that one though.

Before I read the book (or started reading) I saw a lot of people saying that it took awhile for the book to get going, which was why i am going to stick with it, but i just haven't been in the mood for it.. I really want to read some of my smaller/quicker books and get them off my shelves before I start this one, I have the second one also so i can just go right into that right afterwards.

Kristin (kgansor) | 310 comments Tess wrote: "I also read the Pilot's Wife. Good book...just wondered how she had no idea. Just financially ...you would wonder where half of the money went"

I agree, but in the beginning she did say that they had two seperate accounts (or am i thinking of another book? lol i think it was this one though) and if you have two seperate accounts and he takes care of all of his money and if you aren't checking up on anything or having any financial problems then really there would be no reason to suspect..

When i was reading about a twist at the end I was thinking he was involved in some terrorist things or something like that, i never really saw this coming!

Maria (minks05) | 481 comments i finished The Privileges by Jonathan Dee, and I have to admit i was disappointed a little. i thought the ending would be much better, based on the rest of the book, but it was so non-eventful and left so much open (to me, anyway) that it really disappointed me.

Betsy (mistymtladi) | 511 comments I've been on a book binge and finished Pillars of Iron (all 900 plus pages)The Worst Noel-Hellish Holiday Tales, and Bone Garden by Tess Gerritsan.Pillars of Iron was good with attention keeping characters and alot of middle age history well woven in. Bone Garden was a mix of Jack the Ripper type tale and a reincarnation romance mystery. I liked it alot, but it has to be your kinda book. The Worst Noel was a funny collection of short stories, and although there was nothing deep or profound about the majority of them, they were worth alot laughs.
