Madeline | 293 comments I tore through One for the Money, Stephanie Plum is hilarious, but I loooved her grandmother, hah! Now I've picked up Blood and Chocolate.

message 23802: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (kgansor) | 310 comments I finished The Ice Queen and I enjoyed it. I do agree with a lot of the comments about her attitude being annoying, but it was a good quick read for me. Before that I finished Tales Of A Drama Queen which I thought was really good for a random pick up at Goodwill. I didn't know anything about it, it just looked like a good quick read.

I am almost done with Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World. I don't want it to be over. I love it so far.. I love any books about animals.

The Stephanie Plum books are my top favorites. I just love her, and her grandma. There are some books that were iffy, I think it was 5 or 6, I cant remember, but this is one series of books that doesn't go drastically down hill after the first one or two. I loved them. I still have one or two more to read and i'll be finished with them. Keep going with the books, you'll love them!

Claire (clairebear8) | 514 comments I'm still reading The Forgotten Garden and really enjoying it. I also started The Confession on my new Nook (which I love).

message 23805: by Caity (new)

Caity (adivineeternity) Reading all of my random Peace Corps things made me want to read Walden, because two of the three books and a number of blogs and websites have all referenced it. So I'm reading Walden, or Life in the Woods.

I'm actually not far into it yet, so I can't say much, but when I started last night I had a hard time stopping.

message 23806: by Blaine (new)

Blaine DeSantis Taking a recommendation from a friend, I have decided to dive into the books of Edward Rutherfurd.

Started with "London" and have thoroughly enjoyed the first 175 pages of this book. Many call Rutherfurd the successor to James Michener and I can definitely see the similarities in style in storytelling.

message 23807: by Petra (new)

Petra I enjoy Edward Rutherfurd novels and London: The Novel is one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it, Blaine.

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 501 comments Right now I'm reading Homer and Langley by E.L. Doctorow

message 23809: by Blaine (new)

Blaine DeSantis Beth, I really enjoyed the first half of that "Homer and Langley." It got very disjointed for me after that, but at the same time I think that Doctorow was trying to show in his writing style the downward spiral of these brothers. Hope you enjoy it.

Tracy Phillips | 133 comments I am currently reading Wear and Peace and the Sealed Letter most actively and enjoying them both :o) Yesterday I finished Room and gave the audio version 5 stars! Brilliant book!

Clara I would say that if it intruiges you go for it! I don't regret reading it at all and it was really interesting. I also learned an incredible amount just by reading it. Like a college smester or two worth of information. It was just extremely dense and the pacing was all over the place, but I think it was worthwhile in the end. It really gave me a ton of food for thought.

message 23813: by Efe (new)

Efe | 181 comments I just finished Starter for Ten: A Novel by David Nicholl which was just alright. I am hoping for a more satisfying read next, so I have picked up Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and I'm hoping for the best.

Dero Maya wrote: "I am also reading Room by Emma Donoghue"

I'm planning on getting Room let me know what you think of it everyone seems to be reading it at the moment"

I read Room last month and really liked it and I heard the author speak and say she based it on a real case in Vienna, Josef Fritzl, who kept his daughter captive for 21 years and she had some childre with him and they never saw the outside world in all that time. John Glatt, a true crime writer wrote about the case and I read his book after I read Room. I could definitely see similarities.

message 23815: by Leanna (new)

Leanna Keist Just finished I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith this morning and loved it! 5 stars, definitely.

I'm literally just about to start reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It's sitting here in my bed next to me, taunting me, but I made myself update all my threads and finish my review before I started. I'm SO excited!

Kristin (kgansor) | 310 comments I finished Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World last night. I couldn't put it down until I did. I am also glad that I got the newest paperback copy so that it had the extra parts to it.
I know it's been said by just about everyone out there, but I will say it again. If you haven't read it yet. DO IT!
I want the other book that she has out about him also.
I don't know what I want to start next, but I want it to be a light read.. something that I wont be gushing tears over all night! =P

The few short reviews I've read have mostly said it is such a depressing book. 100 pages in, I can see why but yet there is such hope. I have difficulty putting it down but I have to sleep sometime. (Sometimes, like now, I really wish I didn't have to, heh.)

LOL Susanna, I know what you mean, lately I've been missing a lot of sleep!

This is a depressing book but it changed the industry as we know it today. It caused quite a stir in the day. Hope you end up enjoying it.

message 23842: by Lianne (new)

Lianne (eclecticreading) I am currently reading Ken Follett's World Without End. I started reading this book back in September before I left for my exchange but I couldn't bring it with me (was carrying way too much stuff already) so I had to leave it behind. I started re-reading it again when I moved back to my res and have about a fourth to go now =)
