About 50 pages into Upton Sinclair's
The Jungle
. I didn't expect to like it at all from the start but the book is just sucking me in. I love it when a book does just that.
I finished Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World last night. I couldn't put it down until I did. I am also glad that I got the newest paperback copy so that it had the extra parts to it. I know it's been said by just about everyone out there, but I will say it again. If you haven't read it yet. DO IT!
I want the other book that she has out about him also.
I don't know what I want to start next, but I want it to be a light read.. something that I wont be gushing tears over all night! =P

I am still reading The Brothers Karamazov and for light reading in between The Twain Shall Meet which by the way is pretty good. I am enjoying it.
I finished Perfect Match by Jodi Picoult which I liked. Now I'm going to start Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak.

I started Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll a few days ago. I have been wanting to read it for awhile now and my dad got it for me for Xmas. It's kinda fun reading a book with pictures, makes me feel like I am 8 again :)
Paula wrote: "I very much enjoyed "The Jungle" when I read it a couple of years ago. I have difficulty putting it down but I have to sleep sometime. (Sometimes, like now, I really wish I didn't have to, heh.)
Alicia wrote: "I started Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll a few days ago. I had to drag myself through the book and it took me about a month, while just before I remember I read a brik of a book in less than two weeks. It ison my very short lsit of books I absolutely don't like.

LOL Susanna, I know what you mean, lately I've been missing a lot of sleep!
This is a depressing book but it changed the industry as we know it today. It caused quite a stir in the day. Hope you end up enjoying it.
Betsy wrote: "Finished King of Lies by John Hart. Excelent, excellent, excellent. Started and enjoying Pillars of Earh -ought to take a week to finish it , unless we get a blizzard.:DLoved both of these books Betsy. Pillars is long in pages but they seemed to just fly for me.
I am currently reading Ken Follett's World Without End. I started reading this book back in September before I left for my exchange but I couldn't bring it with me (was carrying way too much stuff already) so I had to leave it behind. I started re-reading it again when I moved back to my res and have about a fourth to go now =)
Finished Defining the World, which was about Dr. Johnson and his great Dictionary, and very interesting, and am on to Morality for Beautiful Girls, which is charming.
Recently finished Hood, The Magicians, and truly enjoyed Under Heaven for Kay's gorgeous style and intricate characters.I am now fascinated by a non fiction account, well written, Poorly Made in China: An Insider's Account of the Tactics Behind China's Production Game which I just started.

I've just started "Solving the Mystery of the Lost Colony, Roanoke" Lee Miller Roanoke: Solving the Mystery of the Lost ColonyIt's a non-fiction about the disappearance of the settlers in 1587.

This sounds really interesting, Paula. Let us know how you like it. I love true life mysteries.
I started The Fellowship of the Ring today, for a book club. I'm STILL not done with The Pillars of the Earth like I wanted to be. I don't even know if I'm 50% done. :/
I just started
.. not a lighter read like I had wanted, but at least this one wont make me cry!And I should get through it fairly quick.

Claire it did sound interesting but once I got into it, it was just a lot of speculation. A lot of questions asked that could not be answered and a lot of repetition. I got in about 50 pages and thought I'd skip ahead a little and maybe it would change but it didn't. I was very disappointed because I was looking forward to it.
S.Leighanne wrote: "I started The Fellowship of the Ring today, for a book club. I'm STILL not done with The Pillars of the Earth like I wanted to be. Not S. Leighanne, but I'm also reading The Pillars of the Earth and am really enjoying it so far. I was shocked at how easy it was to get into. Even though it's about 1000 pages, it moves at a very good pace. For me, it hasn't had one boring part and I've got about 250 pages to go.
Thanks Alisha, Ive been avoiding this book because of the length... you just motivated me to add it to my next tbr book :)
I have finished
Swallowing Darkness I was delighted to pick up this book and find not only little sex, but a fast paced, hectic and actually exciting and absorbing read. The main storyline is being stretched way too far now, but hopefully the next book will bring it to an end so I gave it 3 stars
The Hunger Phylly is a fourteen-year-old girl living in Ireland in 1845. Phylly fights to keep her spirits up through her family's struggle for survival and even experiences the wonder of first love. 4 stars
Awakened Stevie Rae and Rephaim, I felt like somthing was missing 4 stars
Angels' Blood fresh and original but it didnt grip me from the start 3 starsI have started
Halfway to the Grave this definitely has a grip on me from the start.
Susanna wrote: "Finished Morality for Beautiful Girls, and now am probably on to Major Pettigrew's Last Stand."I enjoyed The Major. It was quick reading.

I was just about to add this to my list. Glad I kept reading the thread. Too bad it wasn't well executed, sounded like an interesting book.
I read Blood and Chocolate in a day. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the main character's mental journey, from extreme self assurance to self-loathing, back to acceptance. A very teenage transition. Now I'm reading Cover Her Face and Dracula. I usually don't do two at a time, but I keep forgetting to bring the former and I have Dracula on my iphone. I'm the farthest into Dracula so far, and the ride up to the castle was deliciously creepy!
Kristin, I will definitely continue with Stephanie Plum! She's so much fun, and I love the culture of her neighborhood.
i finished The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane last night, and i really liked it. a very intriguing story that was told very well.i'm finishing up a fluff read tonite, Love Me if You Dare by Carly Phillips. it's ok, nothing special, but it helps me feel like i'm getting some reading done!
Annie Dillard's For the Time Being. It's been awhile since I've read AD...she hasn't faded one bit....bird-headed dwarfs, the Peking Man, GOD.
I rest my peace.
Just finished Foundling and I really liked this one. Am looking forward to the next one in this trilogy Lamplighter. I also read Letters From The Earth over the weekend and must say I loved it.Getting ready to start Helen of Troy
