I finished Angels of Destruction A Novel by Keith Donohue last night and it was amazing! Just a beautiful novel. Now I'm going to start reading My Enemy's Cradle by Sara Young
I just finished The Time Traveler's WifeI enjoyed it.I also had some issues with it. I wrote a little in the discussion forum on that book.
Now I am reading something totally off my normal book path. It is sTORI Telling
Hunger Games was so good, can't wait to read Catching Fire. I'm now starting the Physick Book of Deliverance Dane.
I just finished reading After the Rice by Wendy French. It was a good quick read, I enjoyed it very much.
I just finished In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez - one of the best and most tragic books that I have ever read. I'm currently reading Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill and East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
Becky wrote: "I've just received a *signed and personalized* copy of The Prophecy's Child: The Unseen by W.E.D. Wilson as a FirstReads GR giveaway, so I will be starting that this..."Enjoy this one, Becky - I loved it!
Finished The Owl Killers by Karen Maitland and loved it! Tonight I'll start The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley.
Finished the new Jonathan Safran Foer book, Eating Animals which was amazing. Right now, I'm reading Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger. I'll also be starting The Secret History soon.
I am reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan for a local book group. I only have about 100 pages to go. This is different than my normal reads, but I am really enjoying it. I like to learn about different cultures. It makes me grateful for the life I live and the time I live it in.
Dang Jessica, you are flying through books lately! I am gald you liked Eating Animals. I am only still in the very beginning.. where he talks about the fish... I am so scared he is going to warp my head...
I just finished Unwind by Neal Shusterman. This book was AMAZING! If you like dystopian novels, I would strongly suggest this one!Very interesting topics brought up, but it's an easy and FUN read.
Next up, The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong. I can't wait to see what happens in this series! :)
Also going to read Go Ask Alice by Anonymous. I have never read it and want to see what the hype is all about.
I am almost done with the fourth and final book in the Luxe series, Splendor, by Anna Godbersen. The series is actually geared towards teens but I am a bit older than the intended age group. But who cares, right? I am not ready for the series to be over. I do not want to finish Splendor because then I would lose the Luxe books as my companions. If you like historical fiction and want a fast, easy read, check it out.
I just finished reading Go Ask Alice and it was amazing. Great story! Now onto The Awakening. I don't think I'm going to sleep tonight! Hehe!
Finished Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea yesterday and started I Scream, You Scream A Mystery À La Mode by Wendy Lyn Watson.
I just finished Fast Food Nation last night and really enjoyed it. It starts out with a history of the Fast Food Chains, moves on to the process with the animals, including an eye-opening account of meat packing, then onto how the restaurants are run and how the employees are treated, then the global expansion of fast food and then onto health issues and how things could possibly be changed or looked at differently. Lots of facts and names but very interesting. I started The Last Chinese Chef this morning and it started really well. I think I'm going to enjoy this one a lot.
I just finished Her Fearful Symmetry, which I gave 5 stars. I really enjoyed it!I also just finished The Angel's Game on audio. I liked it, but it was kind of confusing at times!
Now, I'm onto Dead and Alive and going to listen to Rasputin's Daughter. I started listening to Dismantled A Novel which seems promising, but have to put it on hold so I can work on the Fall Reading Challenge tasks.
Sherrie, I just bought Dead and Alive at my library sale today. I have all three for the series now, but havent read them yet. How are they?
Libby wrote: "I am now reading the Year of the Flood. It is a real eye opener...."It is a great book. Your eyes will be more open before it is over!!! I read it as a preview book and found myself struggling to put it down.

I just finished Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. I am so mad that I waited so long to read this book! I absolutely loved it! But then again I am prone to liking Holocaust stories...
Now I'm reading My Lobotomy: A Memior by Howard Dully and Charles Fleming. I am not one for memiors, but this just sounded so intriguing! I hope it lives up to the great synopsis!

How are they?"I really liked the first two - they were audio reads for me. It's been a while, but I remember that I really enjoyed them when I listened to them. I think it will be great for you to read them all three together. They're quick reads too, as Koontz usually is. For me though, nothing has topped Odd Thomas :)
Leah wrote: "I am reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil"Leah, I loved this book. Hope you enjoy it. Hey, I see you're from Colorado. Me too. We still have snow in the backyard but today was a shorts and t-shirt day. Love this state!!! Enjoy the book. It's a tickler.

I'm reading American Salvage by Bonnie Jo Campbell. It's a collection of stories and was nominated for the National Book Award. The first story was terrific. The rest are good but so sad.
