What are you reading?

Lisa - Definitely Morelli.
I finished Three To Get Deadly yesterday and the library doesn't have any copies of the fourth book available and I'm afraid I will go buy it! So I'm stuck reading boring old If On a Winter's Night a Traveler until I can decide if I want to go to Borders and ruin the progress I've made.

I have read up through 4...so far the 4th is my favorite.

JG was there something you didn't like in Oscar Wao?

Dorie I only read the first Discworl by Pratchett and though they were also for me a lot of characters and so I really enjoyed it.

How are both going ANN? I would like to read them too.

What series is this?
"
[a:Janet Evanovich|2384|Janet Eva..."
Only read the first and maybe the second. Before reading them I thought they sounded stupid but when I could get the frist one for 0.99 pound I thought about trying them out and after a bit i quite liked them.

Ann I am curious about that one! I have it also to read! You know there is a Scarpetta thread?
Problem is I haven't bought yet her last ones before Scarpetta and I don't want it to tell me some things already...I bought till the important ex-FBI guy died...so there are a couple between.

Handmaid's Tale was just picked by one of my face2face groups - is it good?
"I like this type of book, and this book is one of Atwoods better ones. Not going to be a reread for me or anything, but it was good.

Lori, before starting those two stories I already thought I wouldn't like it but my boyfriend said I would according to him. Wow I don't know what story of the same amount of pages took me sooooooo long to finsih it. I just couldn't stand it!!!!! That must have been the only book last year of which people didn't commented: you finished that book already???

and when somebody reserves it they can't renew the book.

Given how funny you and Allison find the series, I'm willing to give it another try. Sounds like I've really been missing out!

But, I love that book! It's my favorite Calvino.

Right now, I'm a chapter into Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. I'm reading it for the Spring Challenge and decided to start it earlier (making sure I don't pass the halfway mark before March 1st, of course) since I'm also reading The Pillars of the Earth and The Book Thief for the same challenge. I like it so far and hopefully will continue to like it in the 800+ pages.
I am currently reading The Lucky One, Nicholas Sparks' most recent novel (I have read all his others).

I'll post my reviews along the way, Fiona! I'm sure I will really enjoy it!

haha...not really, it is a lovely, lyrical book. I wish I had found it sooner.

Justine, I guess I just like that sort of thing. I'm sorry you're not enjoying it. It is amazing how quickly a book can go when you love it, and how it can take an eternity if you don't!

I'm now listening to Where the River Ends by Charles Martin (a GR author). I LOVED his book Wrapped in Rain and I'm hoping this one will be just as good!

I'm also reading love in the time of cholera, liking it so far...

I agree. I learned more about autism while reading a mystery. I felt the same way about Curious Incident of the Dog at Midnight.

I'll give it 4 stars once I get around to my review. I enjoyed it, but parts of it were kind of hard to read, mostly when he was talking about how hard life was in the Dominican Republic under a vicious dictator they had.

Jeane,
I was very disappointed in those books also. My step-mother told me that those books are good if you are reading them in a class setting, where the instructor can discuss the nuances and meanings. Really, I just didn't get it.

Horrible old thing!"
I've had capture the castle on my shelf for as long as i can remember and still haven't read it. this conversation is certainly going to make me dust it off now.

At any rate, I finished The Taming of the Shrew Tuesday Night. I'll start The Tempest next, as well as rereading Frankenstein.

Going to start The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love
Would love to hear testimonials on this one.

Another book that catches me deeply. The hero is surprised he is searching for something he was unaware of; so is the reader.
I'll decide this morning what's next. Probably Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold or maybe The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. Still not sure.

I am now onto The Given Day by Dennis Lehane.

Linda, I just finished listening to The Lucky One on my MP3 and really, really liked it. Both the story and the reader were great.

I just started The Archivist A Novel. Seems good so far.

Elizabeth, thank you for the Lise See recommendation. I didn't realize she had written other books prior to Peony in Love and Secret Fan. I read Secret Fan and loved it. I've added the one you mentioned to my TBR.

LOL! Well, I haven't finished it yet so who knows - but so far I'm really liking it!

Yeah, I've read the first few chapters and like it so far. I'm always excited when Nicholas Sparks comes out with a new book! :)

Haha I was getting confused on why it kept putting my name at the beginning of my reply, but you have the same name as me! lol *high five*

Thank you Cindy.
I'm looking forward to starting it!

I'm now in the middle of Bones of Betrayal by Jefferson Bass. I've really enjoyed these "Body Farm" novels.

That being said, I am really enjoying it so far. It's got this tongue-in-cheek humor running through it which makes me happy. Its almost like its making fun of itself for daring to be a period piece.
But I'm only 115 pages in, so I'll have to wait and see where the remaining 900 or so pages take me! :)
