A story about a town living in the past. Read from the perspective of a young girl in the town who begins to notice things are a little off.

The townspeople live without either little or no technology, as if it were the olden days. However the town is observed by normal people through mirrors and secret cameras throughout the town. If I remember correctly, the adults are aware of this fact but they keep it secret from the children. I believe they all decided to do it because they were unsatisfied with the way the world today is...
One girl notices that things seem a little strange. She remembers seeing something shine in the sunlight (a camera) vaguely in a tree one day, and also she questions why her mother keeps the mirrors in their house covered.

I don't remember the events that lead up to it, but the girl has to leave the town or escapes or something, and she has to find her way in the present world that she knows nothing about.
