Introducing Yourself

Sorry, I have the corner. :)

Whoa! Marketing is time consuming to start with - but it is fun. Check out author Tymber Dalton's blog on Goodreads - some weeks back she posted an excellent blog on marketing for beginners. Smashwords also has an excellent guide on marketing. Everyone has to learn. Look on it as an empowering process - and enjoy!

A writer - cowering in a corner? This is new. Try first an FB author page linked to Twitter. Alert all your friends to 'like' your page. Join a few book sites and mention your book. Start a blog. Then put an ad on FB and Google - and you're away. And there's loads of info on the net. The trick is patience and tenacity. It's a long process but if you keep at it, you'll see results. Good luck!

That is so great. It takes me forever to write just one book. I do have two books published (finally)and am working on a third that you and your friends may like as they are geared to 8 - 13 year olds. They are travel adventure books called Amanda in Arabia and Amanda in Spain. You can check them out here http://www.ireadiwrite.com/Books/Aman... or on my website www.darlenefoster.ca Would love to hear what you think of them. Happy writing!

Thanks Spencer! Let me know if you would like me to send you a copy of each book to review.

Ebook format or Paperback, if ebook send me a message so I can give you my email. Welcome Varrsity!

My name is Glen Strathy, and my newly released children's book (for girls 9-12) is "Dancing on the Inside."

Hi Glen. This is the same age group I write for. It is a lot of fun and they are great fans! Good luck with your book. Am following you on Twitter and facebook.

Hi Spencer! I will send it to you in e-book format. Send me an email address to send the books to. I couldn't send you a message on Twitter as you are not following me yet. (but you will soon - right?)

I hit the follow button, dang twitter! Anyways, I'll send it DM on there

Right now I'm preparing a book about the craft of writing, which I co-authored with Carlos J. Cortes. We're hoping to release it in September (barring any major catastrophes). Scared to death, of course, but looking forward to the experience. Now, I'm going to check out your very interesting discussions.

My name is Lisa Rivero, and I am getting ready to launch on Sept. 1st my first book as an indie author: Oscar's Gift, a work of historical fiction for middle grades: http://lisarivero.com/oscars-gift/
I've previously published four books the traditional way, so self-publishing is new for me. I've decided on CreateSpace for a print version and ebooks versions on as many platforms as I can format for. I must say that the process so far has been a ton of fun.
Glad to be here!

Hi Lisa, My name is Saylor and I too just joined. I think we all lurked here for a bit before taking the plunge. I'm glad you joined and good luck.
Hello to everybody recently joined. It's great to see so many indie authors motivated, focused, working hard and producing good works! Keep going, guys!

Current stats: #11,322 overall, #2 Fairy Tales, #60 Dark Fantasy (on sale for only $0.99)
I'm also going to be giving away free copies (up to 1,000) to celebrate the release since it is my first bit of fiction I've put into the world.

This site also hosts my books page, which is currently counting down to a preview of it, which I am releasing to fellow bloggers and authors on August 15, 2011. You can find out more about at the site.

HI Lisa, Welcome! Your books looks great! It is the same age group I write for www.darlenefoster.ca to learn more about me.

Just joined you. I'm a indie author with a traditional published background. Decided to try something new this year. I've got 2 novels here in GR- "Escape from Second Eden" which is an espionage suspense genre and "The Sacrificial Lamb" which is southern fiction suspense. I use assorted pen names (J.L. Murphey, Jolee Morriss, GrandmaJAM)for fiction. They are available in e-format through smashwords and paperback through createspace/amazon. But everyone calls me Jo.
I'm also getting ready to release a new zombie book, "Zombie Apocalypse: Redemption" on the 31st via my blog www.jomurphey.blogspot.com . It's in the suspense horror genre (Doh!). This will be the first series type novel I've published.
I also have a children's book coming out in two weeks, "Who Stole Baby Ruth" on createspace and amazon.
What can I say, the beauty of being indie is I'm able to write what I want and publish what I want. Traditional publishers lock you into one genre.

I'm at work on a second novel, which I hope to complete within the next two months - or so - lol. We all know how that goes! It's nice to "meet" everyone!

hugz,
"the dustin""
Thanks for the welcome Dustin!

Looking forward to mooching around all these blogs and books.

I've been waiting in the wings, reading posts, and I have to say I love Good reads, and this group is a fantastic idea. Being new to the publishing world, there is so much I need to learn and you are all a great source of information.
Thanks

After moving to New York City to work at Aqueduct Racetrack, I now spend most of my days at a desk overlooking the Manhattan skyline, where I'm now working on a novel set in the sport of Three-Day-Eventing, about a precocious trainer who thinks she knows it all.

I'm Roxane Tepfer Sanford, author of The Girl in the Lighthouse and All That is Beautiful (PB,Ebook). I write historical fiction with a Gothic twist. Here is my website for more info on my books-www.thegirlinthelighthouse.com
