What was your first Stephen King book?

I started with 'Salem's Lot. Quite a great place to start. In my opinion, it's the best Vampire novel written since Bram Stoker's Dracula, but again, just an opinion. I followed Salem's Lot up with It and then Carrie, followed by Misery then Under the Dome. I read 11/22/63 about two months later.

Then, Just After Sunset, and last Full Dark, No Stars. The best of the three that I've read was Full Dark, No Stars, in my opinion.
Nightmares and dreamscapes was.my first at 22, I've since devoured almost all his fiction, except for the dark tower series which I've found hard to get into.

After I became a big fan, I found out that a great book
which I had read in school by "some unknown author" was the first SK book that I had read !
My first Stephen King book was salems lot I just finished a dance with dragons and was really enjoying George R.R. Martin so I read fevre dream. I instantly fell in love with vampires so I did a quick search for more and found salems lot. Now King is my favorite writer and iv only read a few of his books.

Carrie or It. I'm not sure. Then, I think I read Different Seasons. It was in 1983 or 1984. I was too young to read King's books, but I borrowed them at the library and read them under my covers with a torchlight. Mom pretended not to know. ;) But sometimes, I had nightmares.

Pet Sematary in 1986. My Dad had the paperback and kept commenting on how good the book was. I asked if I could read it when he was done. I had many nightmares but have been hooked on King ever since!

My first Stephen King novel was Rage. He wrote it using a pseudonym, Richard Bachman. After that, I had sworn I would hunt down all of his novels!

     'Salem's Lot
'Salem's LotReceived it for a Christmas gift. Stayed up all night reading because it scared the mess out of me; too scared to go to sleep so I read all night.
I took a long while to get into Mr. King. When I was younger, I never really gave him a chance, writing him off as "oh, he's just a popular horror writer, I'd never like one of his books." Then I happened to hear a lot of talk about his Dark Tower novels so I gave The Gunslinger a read and fell in love with Roland. Made my way through the entire series and in doing so realized that the guy could tell an amazing story. After I finished DT, I started to make my way through his catalog with books that tied in to that universe. One of the best reading decisions I've made!

     From a Buick 8
From a Buick 8I found it in a charity shop as a teenager (I think I was a teenager anyway) and already being a lover of horror, I bought it. It's not exactly a horror itself, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it's still my favourite King novel.
The first Stephen King book I ever read was Cujo. I was about 5 or 6 and my neighbor down the street had a dog that look just like how he describe it. It freak me out a little but I already knew that it was all make believe since Teddy was a very nice and friendly dog. After reading that book I had to read every other Stephen King book and to this very day I still do. Got Doctor Sleep for Christmas and I am reading that one now.

Carrie. Then I read Carrie again. Then I read Gerald's Game. I was only 11 at this time so it wasn't a great choice. Finished it though and then read Firestarter which was a little more appropriate for a young girl :)

My first Steven King book was Cujo and then I watched the movie. They both were really good. I think I liked the book better though because the movie they leave out parts to make it TV viewable. My second book was Carrie another awesome book and movie.

     Cujo when I was 14.
Cujo when I was 14. I remember when the closet door opened by itself creeped me out...for the rest of my life.
Hearts in Atlantis. After reading all the King books that I have now, I would love to read it again!

My first Stephen King book was Night Shift when I was in middle school in the 80s. My Mom couldn't put it down and I wondered what was so great about this book and Stephen King himself. Found out 2 chapters in. Went in to read so many more SK novels over the years. I remember my excitement years later, holding a brand new copy of his wife, Tabitha's book One On One, fresh from the library shelves.

The Running Man - I knew I wanted to read King's stuff because my Dad had all the books, but I was pretty young at the time. I had seen the movie already and loved it. The book and movie are so different, but I liked them both!

I've said this before. It's the scariest thing King ever wrote.

My first King book ever was Christine. I loved it so much, it was all i knew at the time so even though my favorite King books came soon after finishing Christine, I still thank christine for the reason why i fell in love with reading in the first place.

By the way, my favorites turned out to be Salems Lot, The Mist, Girl who Loved Tom Gordon, the Dead Zone, Misery & Black House.
My first Stephen King book was "The Stand". For a long time after that it was one King book after another.
