Jackie!!! I just read that we're going to get some of our missing important characters that we were talking about, like Meera and Jojen, and Edmure Tully, for example. Here's the link: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Game-Thro...
Game of thrones pannel @ comic con was awesome they aired the premire episode for season 3. Best answers were given by GEORGE R.R. MARTIN he said if you want any spoilers for season 3 then read a storm of swords. That was it.Also new pick up line from guys to girls "do you want to sit on my iron throne"? LOL!
Myra, that is the best news I've heard lately!I'm especially pleased about the casting for Shireen, Jojen, Blackfish and Giantsbane.
Do you belong to the group Valar Morghulis Valar Dohaeris? http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/5... Totally dedicated to the series.
Timothy, he's quoted here as saying "So clearly I have to start killing these characters to make room for new ones."
I haven't. I don't have anyone to play with. And as I understand it, you need to buy expansion sets.
Okay Ihave all mine on my nook and plan to read stright through. Now does anyone know if there will be a sixth book?
Yes, a sixth and seventh are planned. It could go longer if I know GRRM. But the big question is, when will they be published? Take you time, Timothy, it won't be anytime soon.
Probably because not much has been done on it, OR he didn't want to give spoilers. I'm content to wait, I want quality and if that takes a few years, then it does. It'll give me a chance to re-read the series.
Do you think we will ever see a prelude novel dealing with edd and robert? Also a possible return of the forest people?
We don't need a prelude, Eddard and Robert's war is in covered in AGOT and some of it is in other books. It's been an interesting way to tell the backstory. Do you mean The First Men? Maybe, but at this stage I don't see what they can bring to the story.
Okay there are game of thrones short stories in these books was wondering if you read them and if so is there a reading order?
The hedge knight a tale of the seven kingdoms
The sworn sword
The mystery knight
I haven't read them, from what I've heard it has no bearing on the series except that it's set in Westeros. You have them in the right order, Hedge, Sworn and Mystery.
This group has read them and would be better able to assist you with the books: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/5...
And here's some discussions expressly for this series within that group:

From the TCA Panel: No worries, GameOfThrones fans. HBO will keep producing the series as long as George R.R. Martin writes 'em #TCAs12
Don't remember where we were talking about the casting of Mance Rayder still being undecided, but wherever it was it's done. Here's the link: http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/08/17/gam...

Jackie wrote: "Anyone see the S3 premiere?"As you know, I did! It was more about putting us back in Westeros, reminding us of where we have been and where we will be going. There were some discrepancies from the books to the show that were disappointing but overall, I liked it! I think, for me, I just have to treat the two as separate entities and enjoy them both. I will drive myself crazy picking apart the differences.
I know. I'm trying to be patient with the changes. I just don't get why they change something that's already perfect and give us something that's just OK. Sam the Slayer omission has me upset, not only did they fail to use that as a spectacular opening scene, but it's an important part of Sam's personal growth. Don't mess with my beloved characters!
The other thing is I expect to be wowwed by premieres and finales, this episode didn't do it at all, didn't even come close. I know we've got a lot of wow moments coming up, maybe they didn't want us to get too excited, lol
I tried last year to separate the two entities and I failed. I can't not make comparisons, I can't unread the books, I can't unknow what I know. I have a hard time understanding the changes being made, or why they would even want to make these pitiful and inferior changes. If you want to change something to make it better, then I could get with it, but make changes that weaken the show, I can't accept it.
I still love the TV show, and I'm so happy that it's being made at all, so I shouldn't complain. But you know me well enough to start laughing right now, lol
My son seems to think that Sam the Slayer comes a bit later and we should be patient that it will come. That is not how I remember it in the books but I am hoping he is right. I try really hard to tone down my expectations especially for premieres. Finales I better be wowed or I won't come back. GOT is so amazing on so many levels its hard to be disappointed. Even from a visual standpoint, it is beautiful. I loved the dragons this episode, they were stunning. I have yet to be disappointed on any of the computer generated images. Jon Snow's face when he saw a giant was great.
Yes, I am laughing but its with you, not at you, lol.
Ian's probably right, I can't say I have a good memory nor would I wager on the correct chronological events. Still would have been a kick ass opening scene. On a brand new show, I don't expect a good premiere, that's always set up. I don't need set up once we're underway in subsequent seasons and I want more jazz, to be wowed.
Finales for sure better wow me or I'll whine for months.
It really is an amazing show. It gives me hope for future shows from other series we love. The dragons are very cool, especially when they cook their dinner, lol Jon Snow, hahaha I'm laughing at him, because really, after seeing White Walkers, giants are mundane. Well, I guess it's true, "You know nothing, Jon Snow" hahaha
Second half of book 3 after the red wedding which was oh my f@#$ing god awesome and disturbing at the same time.
The Red Wedding was great viewing. Intense and quite shocking. It was a bit of a pity as I liked TV Rob much better than book Rob. The second half of A Storm of Swords is as good as the first half so it will be great to watch it on the TV screen.
I'm almost finished reading the entire Fire and Ice series for the second time. I'm shocked at how much I had forgotten, or just totally missed the first time through. Thanks for the trailer, Jackie. Can't wait for the new season.
Myra, Every time I re-read a book or series, I'm shocked at how much I forgot. Gavin, I felt the same about Robb. In the books I was more upset by Grey Wind's death than Robb's. Even though I knew what was coming at the TV Red Wedding, it was still shocking and emotionally devastating. GRRM is a cruel bastard! But we have some good things coming up that I'm anxious to see!
Oh yeah. But it felt anticlimactic, in a way, it was over too fast. This is someone who deserves to suffer a long and drawn out death.
Ha! I totally agree. I think i wanted it to be by sword and from someone who really deserved vengeance. I have a good idea who did it. I did not read the books
I think it's the mother of the bride. (That old lady is her mother right?) Calculating to wait until after the wedding before she has to endure the wedding night. It's unfortunate he made Tyrion his cup boy.
Old lady is Olenna, The Queen of Thorns, she's Margaery's grandmother. Yes, you are correct...but there's more to this, that will undoubtedly be revealed later in the season.
Poor Tyrion, he just can't catch a break. The sad thing is he has so much to offer and no one can see past his appearance. It's really so stupid!
