Jenn (bookishevents) People are just plain creepy, and they wonder why I don't like leaving the house, leaving the house means I might have to actually encounter humans like this in real life. And THAT would be way creepier than an email or a twitter message.

@ Cambria I don't really post my blog link all over either, I post it in places where you can play the follow me game, I do link up and such but unless it's someplace telling you to post your blog link I don't. I will say however that after reading that Blogger 101 that said you should identify your blog in your comments maybe not as a link but with your username I changed my Blogger comment name to Jenn of Frequent Reader, it makes me think of Anne of Green Gables every time I comment and yes it makes me giggle. I figure if someone's curious from there that's what google is for. And I saw Mr. Lonely on your blog too. His username made me laugh, I couldn't help it. Comments on the blog don't bug me as much because I don't know it just seems less personal for some reason, don't ask me why I'm weird like that. The blog makes me feel distanced enough that I'm just like whatever and if it bugs me I always have the option to delete the comment. Anyway I really gotta get this review written before it leaves my head so I should shut up now. Finally read Hex Hall, it wasn't the book I was after when I went all the way to Barnes and Noble but they couldn't find my book even though they were certain that somewhere in the store were multiple misplaced copies.

Waaaaay creepy!! I got a message kind of like that on facebook. People are just very strange (and not the good kind)!!

@Jenn: Did you like Hex Hall? I read the novel and reviewed as well. I also read the second novel, Demonglass, and reviewed it. Even though there are so many aspects of the books that are predictable and cliche, I still found myself surprised to really like the books and enjoy them.

Bethany (lemonadeblues) Geez, I leave this thread for a few hours and come back to a discussion of stalkers who eat belly button lint.

I have no creepy stalkers stories. But I admit, I'm always nervous about friending people on sites like this, lest I come off as a crazy person. LOL

message 358: by J.A. (new)

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments Really don't asnwer that one! I get a lot of spam comments and sometimes it's exactly the same as stuff you see on other blogs. My favourite was the one I got on a blog I used to keep which read "I looked at your picture and saw my soulmate - get in touch to share passion and good times!" because on that blog my avatar was a picture of a rodent!!

So I reckon anything like that is spam and if they leave a link with a message that could be robot-generated it probably is at best porn and at worst a virus. If you get too many more you can always put a CAPTCHA thing on commenting I think? Though mine is Wordpress and sorts out spam on its own account.

Thanks BJ :)

I hope I can find some that you may like. My current review is Die Laughing which is a dark sci-fi comedy. A very funny book.

Which sub-genres of sci-fi do you like?

message 367: by TC (new)

TC | 55 comments Hi guys, I've been taking a look at the most recently listed blogs but am having problems with the Follower widget, it's just not appearing on Blogger blogs for me. Am I the only one having problems, can't see any mention of it as an issue on their Twitter feed.

message 368: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Lane (jenniferlane) | 51 comments Hi TC, my Follower widget is showing up on Blogger but my friend told me hers isn't showing up, so I think Blogger's having a bad hair day today.

I can't say I'm familiar enough with the genre to say, but my fav sci-fi author is Lois McMaster Bujold. Love her characters...and I'll admit I have a wee little crush on Miles Vorkosigan... :)

Mine's been down all day, too. Grr. Mine's a self-hosted wordpress blog, so I can't even blame blogger. Sounds like it's going around today.

message 371: by TC (new)

TC | 55 comments Thanks BJ & Jennifer, it's always nice to know I'm not alone (or that it's not just me doing something stupid) It does seem to be a bit glitchy lately, must be contagious if it's affecting you too on wordpress.
