I haven't started my own blog yet but I am a guest blogger on booksfromthepurplejellybeanchair.blogspot.com and I have started keeping a little notebook and everytime i get a thought like "oh that owuld make a good post." or "that is funny, i could spin that into a topic" i write it down. I am hoping to grow a list.... :) Also, check out the Tips and Tricks folder for bloggin tips!!

message 108: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (bookishevents) I thought it might be neat though because promoting the blog is so much work to start linking up reviews of the same book in linkys sort of a sharing traffic kind of idea. I also thought it might be nice to have a resource for information on hops, challenges linkys and etc. So I set up a yahoo group, like I'm still putting it together and haven't invited members setting up to kind of be able to get promotion updates. If anyone would be interested in that sort of thing that blogs that can be found here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bloglin...

I'm setting it up as a strictly no chat group, just info and having moderated posting to make sure that happens. I don't want for it to be a flood your inbox group filled with conversations, that's what forums and places like goodreads are for, to chat and talk, I just thought an email sort of group with members sharing info would be a quicker resource to help build and promote blogs.

Jenn (bookishevents) @ Jackie & Cambria, thanks, I did search the groups first to see if there was one already made, but I didn't see one. Posting will probably be slow info wise at first mostly because the more people who contribute info, the more valuable the resource becomes. If you don't see your post right away, don't worry, as long as it fits the guidelines, ie info post, not conversation, I'll get it approved as soon as I log on. I like to keep my chatting on forums and comments and my email manageable, so I'm going to try to do the group with the idea most people feel the same way.

That convention sounds super fun!

Ah, really??? I had this great ice cream recipe I wanted to try...

message 140: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) | 3305 comments I am now taking votes for where this convention will be....
Hawaii
England
Starbucks
Barnes and Nobles......

message 141: by Cassie (new)

Cassie McCown (cassie629) | 713 comments Somewhere cold and rainy :-)

message 142: by Cambria (new)

Cambria (cambria409) | 3305 comments here, here...
Most definitely cold and rainy.

message 143: by J.A. (new)

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments Well that's GOT to be England, hasn't it?! I'm currently sat in a rainy office with a jumper on, drinking hot coffee and considering fetching in fingerless gloves tomorrow. We've got April weather at the moment, which would be rude if it wasn't par for the course....

On the other hand, if you do it in Starbucks, theoretically we could all go to our local one - though am not sure that that would be entirely in keeping with the "Convention" part of it.

Talking of which, has anyone seen the TV versions of Agatha Christie's Poirot, played by David Suchet? I knocked into him in Pret this morning, which was a bit random...but then the price they charge for coffee is daylight robbery anyhow so maybe he was investigating that.
hohoho

message 144: by J.A. (new)

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments er, I should add it's not raining IN the office.

Though now I come to think of it, with the mess they've made of our aircon system, it actually has done before now.

England it is!! Maybe we could go to satrbucks after the convention. It is good to know that you have a starbucks in England. Ahhhh, my home land. LOL.
I do not know who David Suchet is....but I am sure it was exciting to knowck into him!!

Amy Eye | 1841 comments Mod
Raining in the office sounds a hit exciting...Sounds like you may already have a wetsuit waiting for the convention if you have that to deal with. So we are going with Spunktacular for the theme...we could pass out interesting bookmarks and bottles of lotion with our favorites book covers glued on for the label..oh, I think I may need to stop there!! LOL

message 147: by J.A. (new)

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments Amy....I don't think I'm used to the sort of clubs you hang out in, girl!!

Fortunately this is London and there's a club for everything, so if Starbucks declines to host the Sp*nktacular (and why should they??) there's probably an alternate venue nearby. And you can take "alternate" in the sense most appropriate to your intentions, I suspect....

message 148: by J.A. (new)

J.A. Clement (jaclement) | 1328 comments It strikes me that I should really try to remember that all this is showing up in the feed on my Profile page. It may be that thousands of curious readers are clicking on the link, eager to find out what kind of person this author is whose book they are about to buy - and then are all getting scared off by this talk of wetsuit-wearing Sp*nktastic clubbing.

IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU, please be aware that Amy made me do it!!
heheheh...

It's just letting all of your future readers know that you have a wild, crazy, unpredictable side - that they should immediately go out and pick up a copy of your book because they NEVER know what will be around the next corner...will it be a hot babe in a wet suit, or someone getting beat with a piece of limp cheese...and no that is not a metaphor for anything else...BUT it shows JA is her own woman, not held back by the confines of society!! (I can get a lot of meaning from one little thing, can't I? LOL)
