@A.S.: By the way, Amy's comment about loving new blood does NOT indicate that she is a closet vampire (unless she's coming out of the closet)...@Phil: glad to hear it...!

Vered, is it bad that I read SCMU as SCUM?! Thought "That was a bit harsh!" then re-read and had to chortle....
JAC
HA HA! Yes, that would be a bit harsh, unless it stands for "Seriously Crazy Undead Midget" (in line with the whole vampire theme that Amy has going)
Yep, that wouldn't be harsh at all....no wait a minute...!Love the website, btw, esp the cover of your new book! When's that due out?
JAC
Hey, 'crazy' is a compliment in my world! And I like undead midgets... well, I think I would if I knew any. Thanks on the website - I also like it, when it hasn't been hacked into by some wacko from Tunisia (seriously, that happened a month ago!). The new book - I'm aiming for January...

Don't worry - you inspired me to get rid of the "Anne" altogether, so I am now just Mhairi Simpson. Much easier :D
I know a kid called Meadhbh. You pronounce it "Mave" (it's probably either Celtic or Old English) but I always visualised the class of four-year-olds learning to spell, going "My name is Sam - s,a,m."
"My name is Jack - j,a,curly c,kicking k."
"My name is Meadhbh...come back in a few years, okay?"
JAC
Well, my mother always pronounced it Anne-Marie. But technically Mhairi is pronounced VAR-ri, so I'm probably going to go with that :D It used to drive me nuts when people spelt it wrong but as I got older I realised it was actually quite a handy talking point. And this one was actually down to my Scottish grandfather, not my mother :D
Okay so here's the deal. there are 26 new posts in here. I am going to say HELLO!!! to everyone new to the group right here. Welcome all and it is great to have you in this crazy group. I can't wait to get to know you all.
heheheh well if I was a boy my Dad wanted to call me Cosmos!! Strangely I don't think he would've got his own way but in true Clement fashion my Mum went for the less confrontational option, and had a girl instead.JAC
Hi, everyone! I'm Sara and my friend Katy referred me here so I can start doing reviews and even maybe some editing for some folks. I'm 41 and disabled so I have the spare time to read and review what I read. I do some proofreading for an online ezine, The Oracle, (I'm soooo picky about grammar, spelling and puncuation!) and really enjoy it. So reviewing and editing is a good way for me to make friends and feel like I've accomplished some projects. You can always reach me here or by PM'ng me if you'd like to contact me by email. Take care!

I have a four letter last name, and you wouldn't believe the way it's been butchered. No, it's not that one, it's Kata. Origina..."
My first husband's last name was "Coad" - you can imagine how THAT got butchered ... (It's pronounced like "code" BTW), but we got Koh-Ad and cowed and all sorts of weird stuff. As you can imagine, "Sozaeva" gets some weird ones, too - people are always adding "r"s and such into it. (BTW, it's "suh-z(ie)vuh" where the "i" and "e" are sort of run together)
Hi, Sara - there are folders for people looking for reviews - be sure to post there that you are looking for books to review; there's also a folder with a topic for folks looking for editing/proofreading help, and be sure to add your name in there, too, with info on how to contact you. Glad to see you here!!
I pronounced Kata right, and I was pretty darn close with Sozaeva! :-) You'd think Cassie would be easy... I get Cathy more than anything (which is my mom's name)...Casey...Cassidy...Christy...Chasity... My maiden name was Kelley--everyone ALWAYS left out the second e. Now it is McCown...we get a lot of McCowan, McCowen, McCowin for spellings... It is pronounced like McCowan. McCone or Mac-kown are most common...
Ha, I wish I had those problems. My name is Frank Smith. No one ever mispronounces it but I will tell you that I am in the service industry and at least once a week I get, "Is that your real name."
"Why no it's not, I am just REALLY uncreative."
Or worse yet the sniggers as you check into a motel.
Sigh, I wish my name was something unusual.

HA HA !!! Love that suggestion!

Ha! Now I just feel worse! I think I'll take the hack-saw and confetti now :)
Thanks for the welcome, JAC, Cambria and Cassie! Katy's the one who led me here and I'm really enjoying myself. :)I guess my name is rather mundane (Sara) but it irritates me sometimes when someone sticks that "h" on there. Now my maiden name, Youngblood, THAT'S one to stick in your mind!
I like to play with names and make new ones. The one I've had longest is Rasenna. It's my first and middle name (Sara Anne) each backwards and then the first letter ("a") dropped. It's pretty unique and definitely me! LOL!
Rasenna - I like! And I love the maiden name. Rasenna Youngblood. I mean, doesn't that immediately set off ideas for a character?
You may want to copyright that name, Sara, I think some of the author's are sniffing around it a bit! Welcome!!

HAHA!! I have my pen name already...still not sure if I will ever use it or not though...it's Dranea Lyn
Said: Dra-nay-uh I love it!! :)

:-)Ok, people, I seriously need to get back to work. everyone sees me typing furiously away and they assume i'm working. So now I'd better! 'Til tomorrow...
LOL! Hands off, I've got dibs on that one! But if anyone would like for me to come up with names for them, give me a shout. My mind NEVER turns off, hence I don't get much rest.Hi, Amy! *waves*

Oh don't worry about it. You inspired me to change it, so I shall send you confetti and leave the axe be for now :D

I think I can handle confetti... though it might get stuck in my hair and give me the nudge I need to hack it off. lol So maybe I will be needing that axe after all. Hahaha
Stephen wrote: "How about 'Miles Long' for a stud character in a romance?"ROTFLMAO!! You guys kill me.
My favorite SF author, Lois McMaster Bujold, has a series with an MC named Miles and she's happy to repeatedly point out that the name means "soldier" so if anyone uses "Miles Long" the guy HAS to be a soldier -- or a FAILED soldier, for added irony :)
Sarah R. Yoffa wrote: "hahahah, I've pretty much given up on mine. I'm Sarah, with an "h" and I get really pissy when you lose my "h" because I'm very attached to it but I had to give up the axes. The US Justice Dept frowns on international crime at that level *haha* "So THAT'S where all those extra "h"s that people add to my name come from! I'll be sure to tell them next time that they're depriving some poor Sarah of her final "h" ...
Katy
she who must NOT be called "Kathy" ...
Oh man, it's amazing what people can do to a name. Rather similar to what writers do to their work. They don't read what's right there in front of them, they read what they're absolutely positive is there, even if it isn't. Human nature, I guess. Bloody annoying, though.
Sara wrote "I guess my name is rather mundane (Sara) but it irritates me sometimes when someone sticks that "h" on there. To which Sarah with an "h" says, So YOU'RE the one who's been stealing all my h's! LOL! Sara I surely know how you feel when peeps get the name wrong and then don't see the big deal. I esp dislike it when I point it out--from an address that is my name! (eg, sarahryoffa@...) That means they aren't really replying to me, specifically, but just clicking and typing for its own sake. Otherwise they'd know my name (GGG)
selcome to the Sara/Sarah club, h's not required but preferred hee hee
LOL! Thanks for the welcome! But I have to :P at the "h"! I tell people I didn't get an "h" in my name until I got married. Sara Anne Youngblood Hampton, yes, that is a mouthful! And I was always last in school, alphabetically.

And I hate being called Jenn(y) * cringe*
there will never be a y in my name!
