Lol the good stuff hasn't happened yet Danielle!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Scary thought!

message 253: by Traci (new)

Traci Is it evil of me that I give a small giggle whenever I think of the show audience watching the last two episodes? Can't wait for the comments!

Haha! Very evil! But I'm looking forward to it, too. I have a feeling this thread is going to be very, very busy.

message 255: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I agree, very evil! But I must be evil, too, then. LOL

message 256: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments We all are, sitting here smiling to ourselves knowingly. But really, we cannot spoil it for the non-readers. That would truly be evil.

message 257: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments Jackie, that would be the epitome of evil!

message 258: by [deleted user] (new)

Welp.

No actual battle shown, just the before and after.

pfft.

message 259: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments That really sucked. And where the hell was Grey Wind as Robb rode back?

message 260: by James (new)

James Gonzalez | 131 comments Wow. Major event happened on Sunday, and this place is quiet. That was unexpected.

message 261: by [deleted user] (new)

It's always quiet.

Too quiet

*looks around, sneaks away*

message 262: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol...well I think the only person who might have been surprised was Danielle. It was likely just Meh moment for the rest of us

message 263: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 380 comments it was no surprise, but i didn't feel Meh about it. thought it was very well done, moving even.

i just wish they had shown at least a little bit of battle in that episode.

message 264: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Give it a few months.

message 265: by Jean (new)

Jean Hontz (majkia) I enjoyed the Twitterverse going bonkers Sunday night :)

Although I confess I was tempted to throw the book across the room when I got to that part myself. But I had to laugh at people blaming HBO. I mean #itsinthebook!

message 266: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I agree with Mark. It was moving. No matter how many times I've read it, or will see it, I don't want it it happen.

I'm sure the DVD will be out before Christmas.

I agree. I must have read that part 3 times just to make sure I wasn't reading it wrong. After that, I got very angry and started complaining how stupid that was. Haha.

message 268: by [deleted user] (new)

Even though I knew it was coming, it still got me while watching the show. Hopelessly expecting some sort of Braveheart moment or something.

As to reactions, I'll share a link that had me laughing all day Monday (nsfw):

He's got some great lines in there :P

i did love that first video. i watched it twice. and then i watched it with co-workers.

message 272: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments I passed it around, had to share the laughter with friends.

message 274: by TinaNoir (new)

TinaNoir | 177 comments I refused to watch this episode. For this very reason I have a hard time re-reading the first book. But man, did I love the TWOP and twitter freak outs! And that video upthread is comedy gold!

message 275: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 380 comments tina, just watch everything but the last 5-10 minutes. it's an awesome episode, well worth watching!

message 276: by Terry (new)

Terry Simpson | 261 comments Videos were pretty good. On that note. The end of tonight's episode was pretty awesome. Much better than I even pictured it to be.

message 277: by Jackie (last edited Jun 23, 2011 07:11PM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments It was totally awesome. Danerys the Unburnt.
There were so many great scenes. Cat and Jaime. Sansa and King Asshole with the heads on spikes. The Greatjon's speech was fantastic but I wanted to punch Theon's ugly face when he swore his sword to Robb. The Night Watch riding out beyond the Wall. Television doesn't get better than this.

My favorite scene was when Sam, Pyp and Grenn recited the vows of the Night Watch to Jon.
And when Tywin acknowledged Tyrion.

And this made me laugh:
The Lord Commander to Jon: You going to bring him back from the dead, are ya? No? Good. We had enough of that sort of thing.

A fantastic season finale. It's gonna feel like forever til the next season.

message 278: by mark (last edited Jun 20, 2011 04:17PM) (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 380 comments i agree, awesome episode! my favorite scenes were Cat & Robb by the tree and Tywin & Tyrion the new Hand.

the scene with Sansa & blonde shithead & The Hound was also great. the girl who plays Sansa is a pretty good actress.

also enjoyed the new maester pycelle scene - that was so clever. loved the background given, loved seeing him turn himself from a rigorous older guy to a hunched over old man.

and of course i thought the stirring, goose-bumpy back-to-back ending scenes were fantastic: the Night Watch marching and Dani & new friends. loved the editing in the first one (Night Watch lord's stirring speech turning into voiceover as we see the Night Watch prepare and then leave) and that tracking shot in the second one as we follow iain glen's boots walking through the sleeping and prostrate Dothraki and then up to reveal danerys huddled over the ashes. both of those actors have also been really, really good this season.

can't wait for next spring! i hope hbo saves some money so they can afford some battle scenes. and i wonder who is going to play Stannis and Melisandre.

message 279: by [deleted user] (new)

oh Joffrey, you're doing it wrong.

message 280: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments After last night's episode, I wanted to see some more Joffery face slapping action...

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Oh wow! I really liked the way the last episode ends. Daenerys is awesome! I am so excited for next season. A whole year!

PS, I can't stand that Joffrey! What a nasty piece of work!

message 282: by [deleted user] (new)

I hope next season is longer.

message 283: by Jean (new)

Jean Hontz (majkia) alas, season 2 will be only 10 episodes also. write HBO and lobby for more!

message 284: by [deleted user] (new)

Well damn.

I'd write them, but I uh...don't currently subscribe.

Or have ever subscribed.

Or ever plan to subscribe.

message 285: by [deleted user] (new)

No-Beard, scourge of the seven indexes.

Jean Hontz (majkia) Ala wrote: "No-Beard, scourge of the seven indexes."
lol. I'm hoping since it was such a success, both nationally and internationally, as well as a critical success, perhaps they'll consider expanding things.

message 287: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I'm glad you liked the end, Lady D! That part with Daenerys at the end blew me away when I read it. I thought they did a pretty good job with that scene in the show. I was afraid they would screw it up.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Even my sister is thinking about reading the books now, and she doesn't read straight fantasy.

message 289: by Jean (new)

Jean Hontz (majkia) well, I wouldn't call Game of Thrones and the others in the series straight fantasy. Certainly nothing like most people expect of 'fantasy'.

message 290: by Jackie (last edited Jun 21, 2011 05:08PM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments That's for sure, it's sort of an anti-fantasy.

message 291: by Jean (new)

Jean Hontz (majkia) Amazon.com now has pre-order for the DVD and blu-ray. No dates announced though. And normally HBO doesn't release the DVDs or Blu-Ray of a series until a month or so before the second season. We're all hoping this time will be otherwise.

message 292: by James (new)

James Gonzalez | 131 comments Gwendoline Christie has been cast as Brienne for next season.

message 293: by Jackie (last edited Jul 08, 2011 02:30PM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Good choice. That's one tall girl. In the pics I've seen of her, she's not butch enough but that's easily remedied.

message 294: by [deleted user] (new)

I hope she can pull off Brienne.

message 295: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments I think she can. So far, the casting has been great, a lot of thought obviously went into each. I wouldn't expect anything less with Season 2.

message 296: by James (last edited Jul 08, 2011 03:00PM) (new)

James Gonzalez | 131 comments Interesting. Apparently I completely missed that Natalie Dormer has also been cast as Margaery Tyrell.

message 297: by Jackie (last edited Jul 08, 2011 03:27PM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Now that one I don't agree with. Isn't Margaery supposed to be beautiful? Well, now that I think about it, so was Loras and they screwed the pooch on that casting. lol

message 298: by mark (last edited Jul 08, 2011 03:32PM) (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 380 comments i liked the character of Loras a lot (in the tv series)...but i agree, not exactly true to the book. well, the same went for Renley.

eh, even though seeing the casting of both those characters annoyed me at the time, now that the season is over and i realize how awesome the whole thing was in retrospect (including the acting & scenes featuring Loras & Renly), my feeling is now more Who Cares. gay guys don't always have to be strikingly beautiful! maybe in george martin's version, but tv can go for more realistic looks.

otoh, there's the decidely adorable and non-tomboyish actress playing Arya. still a real stretch but that little girl is such a charming actor.

message 299: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments It's not that I think gay men must be gorgeous, it's how Loras was written. Not just Loras but Margaery too. I took it as a family trait not a sexual orientation trait. I didn't even get that Loras was gay when reading AGOT. Personally, I prefer the casting to fit the book, otherwise why bother describing the person's looks at all?

I love the little girl playing Arya yet I think it's going to be hard to have her pass as a boy in S2.

message 300: by mark (last edited Jul 08, 2011 04:59PM) (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 380 comments oh i know jackie that you weren't saying that all gay men have to be gorgeous! sorry if my comment came across that way...i was saying that MARTIN'S only two gay characters (so far) were both described as gorgeous.

i understand what you are saying about the 'family trait' thing as well.
