Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments You're absolutely right that Ned is completely out his depth. He really doesn't belong in King's Landing. And I hate Robert just a little for being such a spoiled brat of a king, insisting Ned be there.

Viserys deserved what he got. And it was bound to happen one way or another, sooner or later, with the way he was acting. He was a fool. Dany is far more clever.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Dany has the makings of a real queen. (view spoiler).
It's a good thing that Ned has Lord Baelish to help him. Baelish understands and navigates the system well, although he is loyal to Catelyn, so will help the Starks.

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments You'll find out.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Good to know! I'm kind of worried about who's going to get killed off since I heard GRRM likes to do that.

That Viserys scene was priceless. I loved it.

Also, I really want to take that kid from the Eyrie and toss his scrawny ass out the Moon Door...

Only if you beat me to it, lol

message 208: by [deleted user] (new)

How about we split him? You take an arm and leg, I take an arm and leg, we launch that crazy little bastige straight through the door?

message 209: by Jackie (last edited May 23, 2011 02:29PM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Definitely. I want to see him flyyyyyyyy.....
Then we could go after his psychotic mother, after all, she created it and deserves to die on the strength of that alone. lol

message 210: by [deleted user] (new)

I dunno...she's so full of crazy I don't think it'd be wise to get anywhere near her.

message 211: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Spear the bitch. We won't have to get close to her then.

message 212: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I think the show's loyalty to the books has manifest itself in Lady Danielle. She said earlier that she hasn't read the books, but reading her posts, you'd think that she has!

I've noticed a few small changes, myself, but nothing big.

Last night's episode was awesome indeed. I can't wait until this season is released on DVD.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) OMG, those Eyrie folks are crazy! What's with the nursing scene? That was just too weird!

Jason, I am quite captivated by the show, so I imagine I will become obsessed with the books.

message 214: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments If you love the series like I know you do, Lady D, I know you will also love the books.

The one thing that is different between book and HBO show is that the books allow you inside the characters heads so much better, as usual. So you get so much more of Tyrion.

message 215: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Lady D wrote: What's with the nursing scene? That was just too weird!

All the kids are younger in the book. Robin was six years old and sickly his entire life. Lysa obviously dotes on him, but more importantly, she's unbalanced herself. We can infer she believes nursing him will make him stronger.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Thanks for the insight, Jackie. I think two is the absolute cutoff for breast-feeding, but what does this non-mom know? :)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Jason, I think it would be good to see what the character's inner thoughts are. I hope to read the first book sometime this year.

message 218: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Lady D, you'll want to read #2 also, A Clash of Kings, before it airs as season 2 next year.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) We can always hope I get to book two before season 2....

message 220: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Once you start AGOT, you'll want to continue.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) If my addiction to the show is indication, I forsee that happening, despite my dislike of long books.

message 222: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments I don't mind long books if they're good. And this series is excellent.
What I can't stand is long ramblings, an author who loves the sound of his own voice yet has nothing to say. Then I dislike long books.

message 223: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments Yeah, these are good long books. They go by quickly!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Those are the worst. I like a long book that has good momentum and you can't put it down.

message 225: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments They're the only kind of long books to read. There's too many good books out there than to waste my time reading long winded boring books.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I totally agree!

message 227: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm the opposite end of the spectrum. I despise short books. They go by in a flash and often feel like foreplay with no big pay off. I'll take my big sprawling epics all day long over 250 page short stories.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) My ideal length is 400 pages.

message 229: by [deleted user] (new)

I can get with 400. At least there's enough there to sink your teeth in a bit. I prefer 600+ but then you get back into the quality vs quantity argument. Lengthy doesn't mean good writing but I do enjoy world building and you'll more often find good world building in a more lengthy novel

message 230: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments 400 is about average for me. I agree with the 250 page idea, just not enough, not for fantasy.

TWSS!

sorry, i'm a sucker for juvenile sex analogies.

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Why is always so simple once I see the answer?
I'll try to remember this one. Thanks.

message 235: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol @ Mark. One of my Super goody/goody employees today was talking about grilling steaks for Memorial Day. He then went on to say that he'd just found out how much his wife likes sausage. And I quote, "Man she was just grabbing sausages left and right and just shoving em' in her mouth". I immediately lost it and it took him a good minute to realize the innuendo. Lol I love that little innocent joker :)

message 238: by Moon (new)

Moon I only got to see the free preview, but I have since read the first book in the series and really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see the rest of the television series when it hits DVD!

message 239: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Knight (rebeccaknight) Loving the series so far and now nursing a major crush on Mr. Dinklage.

Tyrion was already my favorite character of the books, so there you go ;).

message 240: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I think Dinklage is doing a wonderful job as Tyrion as well. He's a favorite of mind in both book and HBO series.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) This show is crazy. Every week something eye-raising happens. I think the season finale is going to be a killer.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Argh! Now I'm scared, Jason!

message 246: by TinaNoir (new)

TinaNoir | 177 comments Peter Dinklage as Tyrion is perfection. Tyrion is one of my very favorite characters ever written in fantasy.

I haven't watched the last couple of shows but hearing about Danielle's reaction to the Eyrie crew cracks me up. Yeah, Lysa is....something else.

message 247: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I'd tell you that it's okay, Lady D, but it's really not. :(

message 248: by [deleted user] (new)

Hush before you spoil it for her! Lol....poor innocent Danielle

message 249: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments No spoiler alerts here. :)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) I'm not innocent after watching this show and True Blood! :)
