Hi, My daughter and I read this book when she was in the third grade. Great book about a girl (I think her name was Gwen) who started to grow wings as she grew up. I think that at first her parents (could be just the mom or dad) tried to bind the wings so they wouldn't show. I think maybe her parent knew about the wings, but hoped it wouldn't occur. Perhaps growing the wings was the deal her mother made in order to get pregnant??? I also seem to remember that Gwen (?) had a white owl. I think this book was aimed for ages 8 - 12. It was a great, magical story. I would just love to get it, but can't remember the name or author. I hope you can help!

The plot you describe is somewhat like that of The Fledgling by Jane Langton. The little gitl was named Georgie.
Gosh, I wish that was it, but I'm pretty certain the girl is Gwen or Gwynn, or something like that. I just looked at THe Fledgling and that's not it. But thanks. Anyone else????
It's Gwinna by Barbara Helen Berger. I also read it at that age and is one of my favorite childhood stories. Hope you find a copy!
