How can you go wrong with Byron?

You can't go wrong with Byron. He's my guiding star, because he was the greatest romantic and at the same time he laughed at romanticism and at himself for being a romantic, as though Alexander Pope lived somewhere within. He also seems startlingly postmodern, because in the middle of an "epic" like Don Juan he introjects wry comments about himself writing the poem. He broke the fourth wall long before it became fashionable.

You can never, ever go wrong with Byron. He is the rock star of the Romantic movement. His poetry is flawless. Also, the man took a live bear to college and lived with it for a while. How could a man who lived with a bear at Oxford not be ridiculously awesome?
