Questions? Comments? Concerns?

This group is as much yours as it is ours. If you have any ideas or suggestions for the group, we'd love to hear them!

Maree | 99 comments Can we maybe think about not going for books for the group read that have been recently published?

I don't know how many people other than myself who tend to try to borrow books from the library rather than buy them, but they're nearly impossible to get when they're new, and I can't really afford to buy them for all of my groups. :( Much as I'd like to.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments I actually understand this. It was something I hadn't thought about recently because I manage to find most of my books in document form since getting my ereader, but I had a similar complaint with other groups when most of my books still came from the library. It does take a very long time to get a book in if it's only been out for a month or two.

I'll have a talk with Emi and Elle and see what they want to do about it. In the meantime, if you have an ereader and could use a document copy, let me know and I can hook you up.

Maree | 99 comments I did actually just get a Nook -- that'd be awesome if you could hook me up. Where are you tending to find your documents?

Mk323 | 27 comments I have a question--is there a thread for aspiring (unpublished) writers of YAHF here? Not book promo but maybe a place to share advice, research tips, and critique for each other? I'm on sites like Verla Kay but have trouble finding like-minded YAHF fans to share work with. Just wondering...many thanks!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 270 comments No one's added anything like that in this particular group as of yet. I'm not opposed to having something like this, but so far the group is still a bit slow with the flow of traffic, so the folder or topic might not get a lot of attention. I think now that finals are over, Emi might have some plans to breathe a little bit of life into the group, which might draw in some more interested parties.

Have you thought about joining one of the writer feedback groups on GR? I know there are at least a couple just for aspiring writers to critique each other. That probably doesn't help as much as you'd like if you're looking specifically for help from people who have more of a historical knowledge base, but it might be a start.

If we have any other members who think they'd use a folder for researching, writing and critiquing, please feel free to contact either myself or Emi (Michelle is occupied with real life issues at the moment), and if we can manage to get at least a few who would make use of such a folder, I'll see if Emi is okay with adding one.

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 85 comments MK I am in a couple author groups, and if you want feedback, a bunch of them love giving advice or like to have ideas bounced on them. If you want you can go through my profile for a couple of the group names!
