Sadly there are parents who'd rather ignore it or say give the basic excuse of 'no time'..But like you pointed out if you do it just before bed then there isn't really much of an excuse.
It really can make the world of difference! Ah, must stop thinking about work and sleep..lol
We lived in the Pilbara for years. One particularly hot summer, I'd read a chapter, or two, or three of a Narnia book every afternoon for our kids. They hated to stop listening, so that summer we read through three and a half of them!

We share a similar childhood. Was that also on TV as Watch with Mother? Same intro and then Bill and Ben or Andy Pandy etc?

It use to be on every weekday and had songs, nursery rhymes and stories. Was lovely.
