This could be why there is no thread....I have not read anything by her and after I read that I had no desire to give her my money....but that's just me...

Trace - I'm sure there has been a thread in the past, but it may have been a lack of comments led to it being moved into the archives somewhere.

Also, I think many people agree with what Nichole has said. People were offended by her comments and are no longer interested in reading her books (myself included)

Ive read the comments the author posted. Ive done reviews in the past for websites and the authors can be very particular about their work and they feel you should like their work.
So her comments - in some ways - isnt that unsual. I think she's just wishing everyone would like her works.

I buy a series because I like it. As for authors, well some can be a bit like celebs, they act up at times! And most of us dont stop watching the movies of those that act up the most

Exactly! I read at least 2 of the Cal Leandros books and they weren't bad reads, but her attitude??? Seriously, you want to "talk" to me like that and then hope I like your books??? Do the letter "F-O" mean anything to you? I'll spend my money on authors who I know appreciate it.

I read something about her atiitude on this forum, but i forgot exactly what the problem was. That said I don't really care about an authors attitude on way or another. All that matters to me is how much I like their books. And Rob Thurman's Cal Leandros series is one of my favourites. Her Trickster series is also excellent.

The Cal Leandros is one of the most original UF series. I really like the originality of the creatures in her books. Her protagonists are also more original than most. In a genre that is saturated with the standard kick ass female and "hot alpha male" her characters are a nice change. Cal for instance is more of an anti-hero than the traditional hero mostly found in fantasy. Since i'm a fan of anti-heroes i'm liking this series more than most.

My advice is not to read anything about the personal opinions of authors. Unless they bleed through story telling, they are irrelvant.

I love the Cal Leandros series and do not care about how the author acts. I will continue to read them as they have a great story and I enjoy the characters.

Throughout history there have been many authors who have different opinions than myself but I still read/buy their books.

I can actually see both sides of this. On one hand, it's the stories that matter and not really what the author thinks about readers. Everyone wants to be paid for their work and made to feel like their contribution in appreciated. Sometimes everyone just needs to vent their feelings and it's not necessarily meant as a personal attack on anyone in particular. On the other, an author shouldn't blame her fans for poor book sales. When you tell someone it's their fault that you're not making any money because they loan out books rather than encouraging others to go out and buy the book...that's ridiculous because it's no different than a library. When I haven't read anything by an author and someone recommends a book to me, I check it out from the library and if I really like it and think it's something I'm going to re-read, only then will I purchase it.
In my opinion, everyone deserves a second chance...maybe everyone should allow Ms. Thurman stories speak for themselves. You may just be missing out on a really good read. No one says you have to purchase her books.

I really like this authors books, will continue to buy them when I can. Unless the author does something pretty terrible, I cant see that changing. She's got tallent and I like her story telling :D

I've read the first "Cal" book and liked it preety well. I'll probably read the second one some time in the next couple of months. I'm with Jacy, in that I often check out library books for authors I've never read before.

I didn't see the thread in question but all my corespondence with her has been positive. Even when I told her I didn't care for Cal but loved her Trickster series. So maybe her attitude has changed.
