Love Inspired Books discussion
What are you reading? What did you finish Reading?
Now for my QUICK update after all that :P Sorry I'm talking so much!! LOL!Just finished Songs of a Humpback Whale by Jodi Picoult and The Charlatan's Boy by Jonathan Rogers (both to be reviewed soon!). Started When the Soul Mends by Cindy Woodsmall last night and have already read about 200 pages in it!! Sooooo good!
I'm reading Small Town Mom's the dual book by Janet Tronstad and Debra Clopton. Still on Janet's story and as usual I been teary eyed through some of it.Another great story so far Janet!
Off to a night game for Spring Training 8 days and counting and then I'll have more reading time again :-)
Okay, finished Cindy's book today....left me in tears. Awesome, awesome book. I HIGHLY recommend it if you ladies like good Amish, Christian books. Read her series lol! Started Velocity by Dean Koontz, needed to change it up for a bit : )
Just finished reading Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream and finishing The Girl in the Gatehouse and just started Janet Dean's Wanted: A Family
Jennifer I want Janets book but have to wait til the beginning of april to order it as I want 2 other books also.

I'm reading "Valley of Decision," a family saga about the Pittsburgh steel industry. It was written in the 1940s. So different from today's books! It's around 800 pages, lots of characters, lots of POV switches, lots of detail. Fascinating read, but it's not a quick book. I'm plodding along but loving it.
Thanks Hannah! I'll keep that in mind!
Hmm... I should have Janet's book here somewhere. I have a subscription so I get them early. I can't remember where I put it though. :( Guess it's time to clean the book area again.

We sell it like crazy at Lifeway, where I work. I always recommend it to someone who wants a good read.

Jennifer, too cool! I'm a history nerd too!
I love reading books written during other generations. It's such an interesting glimpse into their lives.

Glad to know I'm not the only one! lol
I just finished reading Lady in the Mist by Laurie Alice Eakes. Very good, I recommend it. Great hero.
Terri, I have Apothecary's Daughter on my TBR pile to read soon. I just started Maureen Lang's World War I novel Whisper on the Wind. I love her writing!
Ooooo Ruth! I have all three books you mentioned in my TBR on Kindle pile ; )I decided against starting Velocity well technically I started it, but decided against continuing it lol! Instead I started The Lightkeeper's Daughter by Colleen Coble and it' REALLY good so far!! I mean, I'm really impressed honestly lol...I wasn't so sure, but have heard good things about her writing, so checked it out from the library. It's due next Friday so I need to read it now! I left my computer charger at home today (booooooooo!!) so I'll probably be off the computer shortly. A long reading day! Not a terrible thing lol! The worst part is...I don't have another book here!! :O Oh no!

Terri,Yes, I'm only into Chap.2 and she pulls you right into the story.
Thanks, Jennifer, for the heads-up on Apoth.Daughter.
Hannah, Your 'kindle pile'? I wonder if that's a misnomer, LOL.
I am reading Letters From Home by Kristina McMorris , Pictures of You by Caroline Leavitt, Numbers 2: The Chaos by Rachel Ward, and Night Road by Kristin Hannah..all four are very very good!!! :)
I just finished Maureen Lang's Whisper on the Wind and it was phenomenal! (read it in 3 nights which is fast for me). Kept me on the edge of my seat right to the end. It also had the most poignant secondary romance. Very well researched. She is one talented writer!
Susan I just received Letters From Home I hope it is as good as it sounds!I just finished Stay With Me
Good to hear, I will start it as soon as I finish Nineteen Minutes and Freedom talk about completely different books!
Marie, I hope you enjoy Nineteen Minutes, one of my absolute favorites of hers : )Okay, so I started The LIghtkeeper's Daughter on Thursday morning and finished it last night!! 300 pages! SOOOOO good!! Read it, you won't be disappointed!
This afternoon I started Someone at the Door by Richie Tankersley Cusick. Another reread for my girl's blog challenge this year. I'm soooooo ahead of her!! But I'm making good progress : )
I also read The Apothecary's Daughter and really enjoyed it. And also The Lightkeeper's Daughter. Must be something about daughters. :)
LOL Dream! Something about daughters ; )Okay finished Someone at the Door this afternoon! As good as I remembered from last time and the end TOTALLY got me again! Love when that happens : ) Started a new one this time, not a reread (yay!). It's called Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin. It's a YA and I'm already over 50 pages into it. It's quite interesting. Really makes you think about death and the afterlife. This author's perspective is something I've never thought about before! Very good so far!
Finished Elsewhere tonight....sooooooo good. Really awesome YA book.I'm on the waiting list for both The Lightkeeper's Bride AND The Lightkeeper's Ball when the third is released and the library gets their copy *happy dance* YAYAYAY!!!
Starting another YA book from the library with the cutest title: My Most Excellent Year: A Novel of Love, Mary Poppins & Fenway Park. LOL!! Sounds cute : )
I just finished Night Road by Kristin Hannah and loved it! It is such a moving story!! Finished it with tears pouring down and a huge lump in my throat!! Five stars for me!!
I finished And Baby Makes Five by Debra Clopton and finished reading Dakota Child by LInda Ford. Haven't started another book yet.
Kristy wrote: "I finished And Baby Makes Five by Debra Clopton and finished reading Dakota Child by LInda Ford. Haven't started another book yet."I loved both of those books!
I am finally going to start Virgin River by Robyn Carrand I'm sure I'm going to love this series like everyone else has!!
FYI one of my 2004 Love Inspired Romances, Loving Constance, is now available as an ebook.http://www.amazon.com/Loving-Constanc...
Anything by Debra Clopton is funny! I can't get enough of her books.
I just got back from a mini vacation, and I can't believe I didn't get any reading done!

Hmmmm that really depends on your definition of a happy ending honestly. I mean there's a truly happy ending like in a fairy tale, you know? But I'd say a lot of hers are happy endings in the sense that the best thing for the characters might have come about. But no, I'd say most don't have a happy ending. They DO conquer hard issues, that's the nature of her writing. They're supposed to be about tough issues that no one else wants to write about lol as I think about it. If you're willing to try it, I'd say go for it and just give her a try. Some people just don't like her, that's your right to have your own opinion : ) I would say a couple of her milder books are Harvesting the Heart and Tales of the Humpback Whale both are more stories of a mother and daughter I'd say. If you want something a little more hard hitting, edgier, and certainly more heart striking go with Plain Truth (Amish), Nineteen Minutes (school shooting), The Pact (teenage suicide pact...or was it? lol). Please, feel free to ask me any questions you have!! : )
