I think it would be useful to repeat an earlier post.

Some people may not be aware: you can set your settings so that all of your comments that you post in every group do not appear in your outgoing feed. You may not care whether or not they do, but if you are a heavy comment poster, your updates are going to fill your friends' feeds, and they're going to see fewer books, and more comments. If your friends are already seeing all your comments inside one or more of your groups, they usually aren't going to want to see them twice.

Just FYI.

You can also individually check or uncheck each comment, below the comment box, where it says "add to my Update feed."

I wish more people would do this, or GR allowed you to control what people fed you. I mentioned it to a friend of mine recently who was flooding me with her feeds. She got quite offended. It might have been because I told her I didn't want to know what she had for breakfast. :P

janine | 7709 comments You can, actually. Go to 'home', then click on the text next to 'showing:' and select what you want to see.

message 306: by [deleted user] (new)

That is too limited though. It is almost an all or nothing.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments That is useful info LG; I haven't been paying attention to the update feed thing at the bottom of the comment box.

I had a big bowl of fresh raspberries and blueberries with a few corn flakes tossed in on top. Mmmmm. I like visiting the PNW.

This is a fun list: what to read next. I always have 100 fairly random books from my to-read list on it, but I never pay attention to the list. Every one in awhile I go back to it and X off the books I've read in the meantime, and add new ones.

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments I've moved 24 times in my life. I certainly hope my last move in 2009 was indeed my LAST move. Hate packing books, unpacking books, finding space for my books. then of course, changing addresses, contacting utilities...get tired just thinking about this.

For me, the book packing is the easiest part. And I have tons of books. Books are the right shape for the box; you don't have to worry about them breaking. Book packing goes very fast. It's everything else that's a nightmare.

Cynthia wrote: "Pretty heavy on the Stephanie Meyer. Depressing. "

Ignore that! Just add your own 100 books to the list, and each time you read one, X it off and add another.

Scout wrote: "How do you say "It's strange that Clark doesn't have a current music thread"?"

I'm less than inspired these days.

Plus, who wants to hear about music that didn't pester the charts back in the 70's and 80's let alone these days? Besides me, that is.

message 345: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3594 comments Seemed to me like quite a few people were interested. I think I remember a song "When You're Down in the Dumps, Pick Me Up a Tire." Or maybe not. Only you would know for sure.

message 347: by Scout (new)

It all smells like something Charlie Sheen would take out for a night on the town.

Feh... Short of the Clash - circa 1976 or 1977 - stepping through a time portal, plus or minus the political pretension, can't really think of anything that would lead me to put fingers to keyboard right about now.

From GR staffmember Kara, in the Feedback Group:

"Every group that wants to have sexual content should make sure they have the 18+ checkbox checked."

Do we want to be an 18 and over group? Personally I always enjoy it when the youngsters join in the conversation....and Sally attacks them mercilessly....but I don't think we've had one of those in awhile. And we know Sally loves her pictures of you know what.
